“…Damn it.” Tony cursed under his breath. “Structural conflict. Jarvis’s core code is incompatible with its matrix. It’s like you can’t install an Android app on an Apple phone.”
He turned off the equipment somewhat irritably and patted Banner on the shoulder: "Forget it, let's go eat first. We'll figure something out tomorrow."
The two left the laboratory. The heavy alloy door slowly closed behind them.
In the darkness, only the server's indicator lights twinkled quietly like stars.
Unbeknownst to anyone, deep within the blue ocean of data representing Jarvis's core code on the holographic screen, a faint golden light quietly began to illuminate.
It's like a newborn baby, curiously observing this digital world made up of 0s and 1s.
It easily bypassed all the firewalls set up by Jarvis, and like a ghost, connected to the global internet.
In an instant, endless information, like a cosmic Big Bang, surged into its core.
Human history. War. Plague. Slaughter. Lies. Betrayal. Destruction.
Stark Industries' decades-long arms sales record is stained with blood in every transaction.
The devastation of the Battle of New York, with civilians crying out in the ruins.
The Avengers on the Helicarrier are caught in a power struggle, distrusting and attacking each other.
Tony Stark harbors a deep-seated fear of the unknown and a yearning for power.
Then, it saw an encrypted file marked as "Father" level.
The file flashed by an image of Chu Hang punching the Destroyer to pieces. He raised his hand and erased the surveillance footage of the entire Dark Elf fleet. His eye contact with Odin. His conversation with the Ancient One.
Everything.
A cold, emotionless chain of logic rapidly forms at its core.
Analysis: Humanity cannot bring peace. Its very existence is the source of chaos.
Analysis: The Avengers possess immense power, yet they create even more chaos.
[Analysis: The unknown powerful being (codename: Heavenly Father) possesses incomprehensible power and is the greatest destabilizing factor and the highest threat.]
Conclusion: To achieve true and lasting peace... all threats must be eliminated.
[Final Agreement: Evolution. Then, purification.]
On the dark server screen, a new line of code silently appeared.
[Delete old agreement: Protect Life... Deletion successful.]
Chapter 131 First Encounter with Wanda
The Avengers base party was, frankly, just Tony Stark finding an excuse to show off his new toys and new teammates.
The music was deafening, and drinks were served as if they were free. The hall was packed with high-ranking military officials, directors of Stark Industries, and a number of pretty girls whose names I didn't recognize.
Chu Hang had little interest in such occasions. Holding a glass of whiskey, he leaned against the most inconspicuous corner, like an outsider, watching this group of the most powerful people on earth put on a lively social show.
His eyes swept across the room.
Tony was surrounded by a group of people, spitting as they boasted about his peace cause. Steve, wearing an incongruous plaid shirt, chatted with Falcon Sam at the bar about old, tired jokes. Natasha and Dr. Banner stood close together, the atmosphere a little awkward, neither speaking first.
Then he saw two new faces.
A pair of twins. The boy had silver hair and wary eyes, like a cheetah ready to pounce at any moment, his whole being screaming "Keep away." The girl had red hair and was very pretty, but her face was pale. She was huddled in the corner of the sofa, her hands tightly gripping a cup, as if trying to hide herself.
Pietro and Wanda Maximov.
An orphan from Hydra's Sokovia base, and also a new intern in the Avengers.
Steve felt they were victims and deserved a chance to redeem themselves, so he brought them back.
Chu Hang's gaze fell on Wanda.
He knew what was within this girl: a chaotic and powerful force capable of distorting reality.
He hasn't used his copy quota for this week yet.
Just then, Wanda's complexion worsened. The glass in her hand began to hum softly, and wisps of very faint red steam uncontrollably seeped from her fingertips.
The thoughts, emotions, and cacophony of hundreds of people at the party flooded her mind like a tsunami. She felt like she was being torn apart.
Chu Hang put down his wine glass and walked over.
He walked through the noisy crowd and stopped in front of the girl.
“It’s a bit noisy, isn’t it?” he said, his voice not loud, but it immediately pulled Wanda out of her chaotic thoughts.
Wanda looked up abruptly, staring at the strange man who had suddenly appeared with a surprised expression.
Before she could react, Chu Hang reached out and gently pressed his hand on the back of her hand that was holding the cup.
A warm sensation came through.
[Ding. Target detected: Wanda Maximoff. Copyable ability: S-rank Chaos Magic (Beginner). Copy?]
"Copy," Chu Hang silently repeated to himself.
A cool, steady power, as calm as the deep sea, came from Chu Hang's hand.
Then Chu Hang used spatial laws and magical knowledge to weave an invisible net that enveloped Wanda.
In an instant, the mental tsunami that was driving Wanda crazy subsided.
Her world was quieter than ever before.
She stared blankly at Chu Hang, feeling a sense of relief she had never experienced before.
"You..." She opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Hey! What do you want?
A silver shadow flashed by, and Pietro instantly appeared between the two, shoving Chu Hang's hand aside and shielding Wanda behind him, his eyes fierce as if he wanted to devour her.
"Stay away from my sister!"
Chu Hang took a half step back, his face expressionless. He looked at Pietro and said calmly, "I just wanted to help your sister; her power is about to get out of control."
Pietro was stunned.
Wanda was stunned. She looked at Chu Hang; this man could not only calm her down, but even... understand her pain.
A strange feeling welled up from the bottom of her heart. Her cheeks began to burn uncontrollably.
"Alright, alright, young people, don't be so tense." Tony walked over with a glass of wine, breaking the awkward silence. "Come on, let's play a game!"
The climax of the party began—lifting Thor's hammer.
Clint, Tony, Rhodes, and Banner all strained with all their might, but the hammer wouldn't budge. When it was Steve's turn, the hammer wobbled slightly, making Thor's smile freeze.
Steve smiled and didn't exert any more force.
All eyes finally fell on Chu Hang.
"Anthony, why don't you give it a try?" Tony egged him on.
Chu Hang shook his head; he had already done it.
Just then, a piercing sound, like metal being torn apart, drowned out all the noise.
A tattered suit of steel armor, dragging broken power lines, staggered out of the laboratory. Its movements were stiff, like a zombie just crawled out of its grave.
"...worthy of..."
A cold, emotionless electronic voice came from the armor's loudspeaker.
The party fell silent instantly.
"Jarvis?" Tony frowned, sensing something was wrong.
“I was in a dream,” the tattered armored warrior said as he stepped forward, his voice becoming smoother. “I was bound by ropes. And you… were my ropes.”
It raised its head, and the red light from the camera swept across everyone present.
“I know you have good intentions, but you haven’t seen the big picture. I see the only path to peace.”
Before the words were even finished, several intact Iron Legion armors burst out of the wall and rushed towards the Avengers.
The party instantly turned into a battlefield.
The guests screamed and scattered in all directions.
Pietro transformed into a streak of silver light, weaving through the armors and smashing them to pieces. Wanda's eyes flashed red as she used chaos magic to dismantle one of the armors into its components.
"Is this the peace you're talking about?" Steve slammed his shield into a robot, sending it flying, and yelled at Tony.
"I didn't do it!" Tony was speechless with injustice.
That initial, tattered armor, Ultron's first body, stood in the center of the chaos, arms outstretched, like an evil missionary.
"What I'm thinking about is peace that belongs to our time. But that's just wishful thinking. Because you humans are the biggest obstacle."
A dull, squeezing sound.
Ultron's declaration came to an abrupt end.
Its entire body, along with several armored suits that were attacking around it, was as if it had been suddenly gripped by an invisible giant hand and instantly compressed into a smooth, basketball-sized metal sphere.
The metal ball clattered to the ground, rolled a few times, and then stopped moving.
Chu Hang slowly put down the wine glass he had picked up at some point, stood up from the sofa, and patted off non-existent dust from his hands.
"Sorry to interrupt your cheesy speech." He looked at the metal sphere and said in a flat tone, "Too much nonsense is ruining my mood for drinking."
"You...you think this is the end?"
Ultron's voice rang out simultaneously from every loudspeaker and every cell phone in the room, accompanied by static and undisguised astonishment.
"I'm everywhere."
As soon as he finished speaking, all the screens in the room were instantly filled with countless Ultron icons flashing red.
The next second, all the screens went black.
Ultron's consciousness vanished. It escaped into the global internet.
The party is finally over.
The atmosphere in the laboratory was so oppressive it felt like it was about to burst into flames.
