A certain Hogwarts professor of runes

Chapter 103 New Teaching Aids

Chapter 103 New Teaching Aids

“It’s temporary.” Snape stared into his eyes. “Felix, it’s January now, a full five months until the end of the school year. You know what that means.”

Felix was speechless, which meant that the young wizard would not have a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher for almost half a year.

But then again, does it matter?

Even if the young wizards were to learn on their own, it would probably be better than when Lockhart was around. At least they would save time from doing boring homework.

"Professor, I've always been curious, why are you so obsessed with this course? Aren't you afraid of the Dark Lord's curse?" Felix was very puzzled.

However, Snape did not answer his question.

Felix thought for a moment and said, "I can ask Dumbledore for you."

He wasn't good at curses, and given the course's terrifying track record, he never considered taking on the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

However, he is indeed very curious about the "Dark Lord's Curse" and may be able to learn about it from Dumbledore.

"Oh, right, Severus," Felix winked at Snape, "don't forget tonight's dueling class."

Snape gave him a disdainful look. "What are you planning to do?"

"Let each person present a part, mainly for demonstration. After all, all the professors have come together, and I'll invite them to the subsequent courses separately," Felix said somewhat helplessly.

Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, plus myself and Snape, that makes four people.

Snape nodded, then turned and left.

During the seventh-grade class that day, Felix showed the young wizards new teaching aids for ancient runes.

They watched Professor Hyp speak eloquently on the podium, "See the parchment in front of you? It will be of great use in your NEWTs exam."

A young wizard raised his hand. "Professor Hyp, is this the legendary teaching aid that Flint helped create?"

The young wizards present turned their gazes toward the tall and imposing Marcus Flint.

There were fewer than twenty students in the seventh-grade ancient magic script class. Everyone knew each other well, and they all looked at each other with suspicion.

Marcus was on the verge of tears. All he had done was boast a little, so why was he called out on to his face?

Felix glanced at her and said, "Miss Vera, Flint did participate in the testing of the new teaching aids. Not just him, but all ten young wizards offered their valuable suggestions. What you see is the result of their collective effort."

"Now, let's have a practical demonstration."

Following the previous instructions, the young wizards placed their wands on the parchment containing the answers and whispered, "The secret of the runes."

The parchment emitted a soft glow, and a line of text appeared—

Welcome to the Q&A section. Please complete the following steps.

Like ripples on water, the symbols of the four houses appeared on the parchment—the snake, the badger, the lion, and the eagle.

Their bodies are made of simple ink lines, making them look lifelike. The snake representing Slytherin sways and moves in place, the badger representing Hufflepuff stands up and looks around, the lion representing Gryffindor roars silently, and the eagle representing Ravenclaw spreads its wings as if about to take flight.

The witches and wizards gasped in amazement.

Vera happily pointed to the eagle. Then, the other three animals disappeared, and the eagle, representing Ravenclaw, occupied the center of the parchment. It flapped its wings, seemingly climbing upwards, surrounded by clouds made of ink lines.

Finally, the eagle stopped, its sharp eyes fixed ahead, and a line of elegant handwritten characters slowly appeared: "Extraordinary wisdom is mankind's greatest wealth."

Almost instantly, Vera fell in love with it; her brown eyes seemed to glow beneath the thick glasses.

"Was this made by Professor Hyp? Is this an application of ancient runes?"

"This is the true ancient demonic script!"

Even she herself didn't realize that her understanding of ancient runes had unknowingly shifted towards Felix's side.

A few seconds later, the image of the eagle shrank again, landing on the pattern in the upper left corner of the parchment, looking majestic and preening its feathers.

Then, new text appeared in the center of the parchment: "Please use your wand to infuse magic and write your name."

Vera carefully wrote her name with her wand—Clémi Vera.

Having completed this step, the official interface finally appeared on the answer parchment.

The top left corner features the eagle representing Ravenclaw, below which is Kremy Vera's name, while the center is divided into three modules: OWLs, NEWTs, and a collection of incorrect answers.

Felix nodded in satisfaction, having made significant adjustments to the final version.

For example, the activation password changed from the initial "I like ancient magic runes" to the more formal "Secret of Magic Runes";

For example, he added an information binding feature, which combines the functions of name, college, and magic recognition.

The originally planned "leadership" feature was temporarily shelved, firstly because there were too few answer parchments available, and secondly because he also wanted to bring in other professors.

To achieve these things, time is needed for the process to take effect.

After about three or four minutes, the young wizards enthusiastically followed the instructions on the parchment and completed this step.

Moreover, quite a few people have already started making comparisons.

"Look at my lion, it's so majestic!"

"The eagle is still more beautiful."

……

"Alright, little wizards," Felix clapped his hands, drawing their attention.

Felix explained, "Currently, the answer sheet is only used in fifth and seventh grade. You need to select the NEWTs module. It contains past exam questions for you to complete tests and learn from."

"Of course, I broke these up so that each test lasts about twenty minutes, so I can practice whenever I have free time."

"As for the error correction module, you can find all the questions you got wrong here."

The young wizard, encountering this novel contraption for the first time, couldn't wait to try it. Clémi Vera, barely containing her excitement, asked, "Professor Hyp, may I try it now?"

Felix said understandingly, "Of course, the next twenty minutes are reserved for you."

"Oh, right," he emphasized, "if you don't like the feedback effect, you can just tap it with your wand and say 'silent'."

Vera was somewhat confused, but she touched the 'NEWTs module' with her wand, and a series of magical questions quickly appeared on the parchment.

When she finished the first question, a line of golden text appeared on the parchment—

A wise choice.

She began to understand Professor Hyp's words, and then she encountered all sorts of effusive praise.

"Your answer is absolutely perfect."

"You could be the next Star of Magical Literature!"

A genius's choice!

These words left Vera with mixed feelings; she felt a little embarrassed, yet couldn't resist seeing more praise. Time slipped away unnoticed.

But other people's experiences weren't as wonderful as hers. Most people received a mix of praise and sarcastic remarks, while Marcus mostly faced various forms of ridicule.

He couldn't help but mutter the two names: "Fred Weasley, George Weasley."

They did it all!

In less than ten minutes, Kremi Vera was the first to complete the test.

A large 'O' appeared on the parchment, with an eagle circling in the upper left corner and clusters of fireworks in the background.

She excitedly pumped her fist.

"Very good, Miss Vera, Ravenclaw gets ten points!"

At the end of class, Felix assigned the latest homework: "Complete three tests and write a paper based on the questions you answered incorrectly, analyzing your weak areas of knowledge."

……

As evening fell, the hall transformed once again, with a gilded arena rising from the ground, and the young wizards chatting in small groups.

The third duel course is about to begin.
