Chapter 102 Lockhart's End
Chapter 102 Lockhart's End
Lockhart appeared very nervous, her elegant, flowing blonde hair clinging tightly to her head.
"Professor Hai, I have something urgent to attend to regarding the new book... It's very urgent and needs to be dealt with immediately."
"Really? Oh, I don't think your office is connected to the Floo Network. Should I call Professor McGonagall, or... Dumbledore?"
Lockhart beamed. "If that's the case, then that's wonderful! Oh, Headmaster Dumbledore, what brings you here?"
A dazzling green light shot out from Lockhart's hand at incredible speed. Just as Lockhart was about to smile in victory, his spell stopped in front of Felix.
An invisible barrier stood in front of Felix, and the dazzling beam of light seemed to be cut off by the air.
"Hmm, is this your strongest magic? Seriously, you've changed my perception of you, Professor Lockhart," Felix even had the energy to comment.
"Felix Heap! Let me go!"
"Feel sorry."
"You know everything, don't you? That Weasley who snitched? You want to get justice? Come on, Felix Heap, I heard about your story from other people. You're not one to meddle in other people's business."
"I'm not really interested in your business, but who told you to be jumping around under my nose?" Felix said. If Lockhart had been jumping around outside Hogwarts all the time, he really wouldn't have gotten involved.
"Then let me leave! I swear I'll never show my face in front of you again."
"Let you leave? After knowing you're a master of memory magic and a sneak attack expert?" Felix shook his head.
The two spells clashed repeatedly. Felix increased his magical output, and the originally invisible Iron Armor Spell began to show simple lines, outlining a suit of armor in the air.
Lockhart, on the other hand, was not at a disadvantage, exuding the aura of a powerful figure. His spells were extremely powerful, and were growing stronger.
His incantation illuminated the entire corridor, the green light reflecting off Lockhart's face, making him appear eerie and terrifying.
"Felix Heap, my magic is more powerful than you imagine. I've received a secret inheritance! I'm far from reaching my limit!"
In that short minute, his spell had rapidly escalated from its initial state, even faintly resembling the powerful disarming spell that Felix had demonstrated in the second dueling lesson.
However, Felix laughed. "Lockhart, you're only strong in this one spell. It seems to be some kind of ancient magic. How enviable..."
"But I must say, Lockhart, you're not good at dueling."
With a slight wave of his other hand, Felix transformed the rubble in the corner into a bunch of slick, shiny rats.
The rats rustled and pounced on Lockhart.
"What the hell! There are rats, lots of rats!"
Lockhart tried to maintain the spell while shaking his body, but it was in vain. One of the rats bit his arm, and in the pain, his wand fell from his hand.
Under Lockhart's horrified and Felix's indifferent gaze, the wand fell to the ground, bounced a few times, and then remained still.
Felix cast a silent Summoning Charm and seized Lockhart's wand.
The corridor became dark again.
Lockhart looked ashen-faced and pleaded, "Felix, I have no choice... I can give you all my money."
Felix sighed. "Headmaster, you should handle this."
As Lockhart watched in horror, Dumbledore's figure slowly appeared, half his face hidden in the darkness, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and sorrow.
"Dumbledore... Headmaster! I..."
Lockhart, I watched you grow up.
Dumbledore said calmly, controlling his emotions, and a flash of red light struck Lockhart, knocking him unconscious.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor floated in mid-air, a golden thread wrapped around his body.
As he was leaving, Dumbledore said to Felix, "Thank you, Felix."
"I didn't do anything. With you keeping an eye on him, he can't escape."
All the portraits in the castle were the Hogwarts headmaster's spies, and with Dumbledore's own magical prowess, no one could avoid him.
Felix even felt that the old man harbored too many secrets in his heart, yet had never revealed them.
This is also why he didn't use powerful magic; if they had met outside the school, he would have definitely given Lockhart a title.
"No, Felix, I thank you. You saved me from fighting my own student."
Dumbledore left.
Felix stood there for a moment, then walked into Lockhart's office.
……
During the day, the young wizards noticed Lockhart's absence from class and began to whisper among themselves. Soon they discovered that the other professors were also vague in their explanations.
And so a rumor began to spread—
"It must be Fudge! I knew it, he wouldn't let Lockhart go." Dean Thomas said confidently to the young Gryffindor wizards, while his audience looked at him with skepticism.
"It's true, Fudge is very petty, I read it in the newspaper."
That evening, Felix announced that the "teaching aid upgrade program" was a complete success and everyone could go home.
In fact, everyone else's solitary confinement journey had already ended, except for Ron.
Felix's initial goal was to allow Ron to legitimately escape Lockhart's control, but as things progressed, the young wizard's enthusiasm became too high, and the situation spiraled out of his control.
However, this was the first time Felix had witnessed young wizards from four different houses working together towards a common goal, so he let it go and even participated by providing guidance.
Now that the danger has passed, the upgrade plan for the teaching aids has been pushed to its fourth version, and it's time to end it.
But those who deserve rewards should still be rewarded.
"Given that some of you remained at your posts and performed your duties admirably after the lockdown ended, each of you will receive a bonus."
Amid cheers, Ron mustered his courage and asked, "And what about me, Professor Hyp?"
"Weasley, your confinement time has been too long, I can't give you any extra points, but, well..." Felix said, "I can suggest to Professor McGonagall that we reduce the number of your confinement sessions."
Ron left the office satisfied.
Felix was also in a very good mood. All sorts of trivial matters had been resolved, and he no longer needed to worry about this or that.
That evening, he enjoyed watching two episodes of the animated DVD.
The war between the clumsy cat and the clever mouse is simple and pure, seemingly without any burden.
Felix rummaged through his inventory, "Maybe I should buy some more?" With that thought in mind, he drifted off to sleep.
On the second day in the Great Hall, Snape cornered Felix.
"You want me to help you get a position in the Defense Against the Dark Arts?" he asked in surprise.
