Chapter 23 The Octopus That Controls the World
Chapter 23 The Octopus That Controls the World
"Severus, you're spoiling that child..."
In the headmaster's office, the rising steam couldn't hide the bitterness in Dumbledore's smile. He slightly raised his hand, gesturing for Snape to sit down, and handed him a cup of black tea.
"Would you like some sugar?"
Snape neither sat down nor accepted the tea; he simply stood in the doorway, as if he were just saying a few words and then leaving.
"Tolerance?" Snape made no attempt to hide the sarcasm in his tone. "Excuse me, Professor Dumbledore, but I really don't understand what you're talking about. Apart from that harmless little joke, has Mr. Persson done anything wrong?"
"That's not insignificant, Severus..."
Dumbledore sighed softly. At the very beginning of the incident, he had sent Phineas to investigate. He had observed Persson's every move and was very satisfied.
He supports his friends, disdains pure-blood ideology, and shows no fear of Voldemort...
Dumbledore didn't even understand why such a child was sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor.
But when he actually arrived at the scene...
"Severus, I believe Mr. Poisson did not intend to kill Mr. Paul, but you saw his eyes, those eyes that disregarded life. We must guide him onto the right path."
"No, I didn't see anything," Snape said coldly, unmoved. "Mr. Persson has already explained that if Mr. Paul hadn't dodged in time, he would have turned the axe back into a chandelier. He's much more astute than most people, isn't he?"
"At the very least, he knows to stop playing pranks on his own initiative, without needing his best friend, who is afraid of dropping out of school, to remind him."
Snape savored every emphasis in those words and continued his attack: "Or does the great Headmaster Dumbledore also believe that only Slytherin can breed dark wizards, thus requiring extra attention, while other houses can be temporarily set aside?"
"No, I have never thought that way," Dumbledore said calmly, shaking his head. "But that child is different. He may never have had a normal education, or even experienced normal interpersonal relationships. As professors, we have a responsibility to teach him what is right and what is wrong."
"Mr. Poisson knows better than most what he is doing, and I don't like to repeat myself."
Snape seemed to have completely lost his patience, turned his back to Dumbledore, and walked towards the door.
"I'm sorry, Professor Dumbledore. As the Head of Slytherin, I must first arrange solitary confinement for those who truly don't understand what they're doing. Mr. Paul, who initiated the duel, is clearly the one who needs guidance more."

The wooden door closed gently, and the silverware on the table seemed to have lost all its strength, no longer spinning and making a buzzing sound, with only a few wisps of mist seeping out from the cracks.
"I think he's right."
As soon as Snape left, Phineas stopped pretending to be asleep by the picture frame and said with great enthusiasm, "I've seen that boy fight—elegant, ruthless, yet knowing his limits! He's a born Slytherin!"
"That's exactly what I was worried about," Dumbledore sighed again. "Mr. Poisson didn't intend to kill Mr. Paul, but he did it only out of fear of me, not because he truly considered Mr. Paul one of his own."
"What do you mean?" Phineas asked in confusion, while the other portraits also pricked up their ears in curiosity.
The portraits at Hogwarts are absolutely subject to the headmaster's orders, so Dumbledore would naturally not deliberately hide them.
"Mr. Persson seems to identify more with his dragon identity than with humans. He has not truly integrated into Hogwarts, or even into the human world."
"I'm very worried that if he doesn't receive the right guidance, he could become an even more terrifying being than Voldemort..."
As he spoke, Dumbledore's gaze fell on the Sorting Hat, which was whistling, with a hint of reproach in his eyes.
……
"Achoo!"
In a corner of the auditorium, Persson sneezed, and the students who were already far away from him immediately shifted their positions, creating several spaces between them, as if he were some kind of pathogen carrying a deadly virus.
"It seems Dumbledore still remembers me..."
Posson muttered to himself, quickly finished his meal, and got up to walk towards the lounge.
Several days later, news of his duel with Lucien had spread, not only about his crushing defeat of the fourth-year students, but also about Snape's biased attitude, which became increasingly outrageous.
Many people suspect that Persson comes from a reclusive family. He may seem ordinary, but he is actually extremely powerful and controls the deep government that governs the Ministry of Magic!
This speculation seemed increasingly plausible after the young wizard from the pure-blood family asked his parents to investigate Persson's identity but to no avail, and was even warned by the Minister of Magic.
No wonder Persson was able to defeat Lucien, a fourth-year student, despite being a freshman!
No wonder Snape was so biased towards Poisson, and didn't dare to utter a single word in his presence!
The young wizards of Slytherin were particularly convinced of this conjecture, because in that case, they would not have been defeated by some unknown Mudblood, but rather by the Celestial Dragons, whose bloodline was much purer!
Poisson's ability to defeat a fourth-grader is a perfect example of the superiority of pure-blooded geniuses.
Thinking of this, even the lowest-ranking half-blood in Slytherin couldn't help but puff out his chest with pride!
Despite what he could say, Persson's words, his stance, and his circle of friends were not something the old Slytherins could tolerate.
Therefore, even if Persson is a Celestial Dragon, he is a traitor among the Celestial Dragons and should not be associated with!
It was precisely this contradictory mindset that led the Slytherins to both avoid Persson at all costs and yet always speculate about his family background and discuss his fighting prowess, inevitably ending with:
"If only I could be like him..."
Malfoy sighed deeply. In the past, he had always regarded other wizards as inferiors, while he, as one of the Twenty-Eight Pureblood Saints, was the noblest being and the rightful ruler of the world.
But now, a Poisson has suddenly appeared out of nowhere, who is not only better at studying than him, but also stronger in combat.
Now it seems that even Malfoy's most prized family background is nothing compared to Persson's; his father couldn't even find any record of Persson in the wizarding world.
It's important to know that the Malfoy family, as one of the wealthiest families, not only controls businesses in the magical world, but also owns several companies in the Muggle world.
Even with the Malfoy family's influence, they couldn't find a single clue about Persson.
Either Persson is a complete savage who has never been to the wizarding world or even the Muggle world in the past eleven years!
"Ha..." This idea amused even Malfoy himself.
After finishing his cola, an even more terrifying thought confronted him.
"Or perhaps the Savanrik family has already extended its reach into every aspect of life, enough to erase all records silently!"
In a hazy vision, Malfoy seemed to see a giant octopus blotting out the sky, casting down twisted, eerie tentacles that pierced into the Ministry of Magic and into Diagon Alley…
Even Hogwarts couldn't escape it!
"The sky over the magical world has fallen dark..."
Malfoy murmured, feeling more lost than ever before.
