Chapter 56. The Temple of Gatanothor
Chapter 56. The Temple of Gatanothor
Deep beneath the South Pacific seabed, in a place where no human probe can find its remains, lies the resting place of Gatange'a.
Belial, once a warrior of light who fell into darkness, is extremely sensitive to the power of darkness. The moment he descended to Earth, he was drawn to the vast darkness beneath the South Pacific Ocean.
What Boss Jin said was true; this darkness is a great tonic. If we can turn it into our own, we can probably easily defeat even Ultraman Father Ken.
However, this darkness has a master.
Gatanothor, the dark ruler slumbering in the ruins of R'lyeh, is a formidable opponent even Belial must acknowledge.
Knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory in every battle. Belial, after all, was once the second-in-command of the Land of Light, so he understood this principle of warfare.
So Boss Jin assigned the task of collecting data to Mavis, while he and Belial went to space to find the life force that could launch a counterattack against the Land of Light—the Sphere of Spia.
But later...
Tiga and Dyna's timelines are not far apart, and the Spheres should be as numerous as stray dogs on the roadside, scattered throughout the universe. However, as if someone tipped them off, the Spheres disappeared without a trace, and Jin Yi couldn't find them no matter how hard he searched.
Having explored all the cosmic landscapes, I only found a handful of six Sphia spheres.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Mavis's progress has also hit a bottleneck.
As a noble alien from the planet Mephiras, Mephisto has a natural sense of arrogance. He looks down on Earthlings. Of course, he hides this in front of Boss Jin, but a subtle arrogance always shines through.
From the New Ultraman universe to the Tiga universe, his attitude has remained the same: the Earth has changed, but the Earth monkeys are still the same group of Earth monkeys.
The so-called Dark Ruler Gatanothor... When the tiger is away, the monkey becomes king. He's probably a powerful and rare species on this earth, worth hunting.
He bravely chose to descend into the Pacific Ocean, swaggering into the ruins of R'lyeh without any concealment, and then... that was it...
Before even stepping through the gates of the ruins, boundless darkness surged in like a tide, so overwhelming that he dared not move and nearly became food for deep-sea fish. Fortunately, Zakra on the shore intervened and saved him from disaster.
Things are easy to learn after one try, so Mavis put aside her arrogance towards Gatanothor and began to take this challenging task seriously.
Going into the sea physically is too dangerous, so let's use technology instead.
Initially, it involved the most cutting-edge technology on Earth. Blue Dream Corporation and Cyberdex Corporation were partners, and through Mavis's connections, he easily acquired the most advanced detector on Earth, supposedly the masterpiece of Cyberdex Corporation's owner, Masaki Keigo.
Even with Mavis's discerning eye, he had to admit that this Earthling with a similar voice to his was indeed a genius. Unfortunately, the detector only lasted two or three seconds after entering the dark realm before the chip was burned out.
Mavis returned the sample to Masaki Keigo, and two or three days later, the latter frantically contacted Mavis, asking her what she had done.
It's truly baffling where an Earthling gets such a huge curiosity. It took him a great deal of effort to brush it off, and afterwards he even brainwashed a few corporate spies from the Cedik Company before Masaki Keigo finally gave up.
If Earth's technology isn't up to par, then let's go to outer space; that's a much more powerful approach.
Aside from the Star of Light, Mephiras is the most technologically advanced planet in the universe!
However, it was of no use.
The probes, purchased from the original manufacturer at great expense, also performed poorly. Despite embodying the pinnacle of Mephiras's technology, they were utterly defeated by the black fog, crashing one after another and being completely wiped out.
This task was thus indefinitely shelved.
When Boss Jin returned to Earth, if Blue Dream Company hadn't been doing so well, Mavis would have had no idea how to explain things to him.
Back on Earth, Boss Kim resumed the exploration mission and proposed a new plan.
Jin Yi observed that although the biomass was sparse near the Luluye ruins, there were still schools of fish. Since mechanical means were ineffective, could biological means be used to bypass this limitation?
So, Boss Jin went into the sea himself and captured the deep-sea monster, Reilos.
This Earth monster, mutated by nuclear radiation, is cruel, vicious, and difficult to control, but under the scalpel of alien biotechnology—
It can only obediently become a mindless living detector.
Using biosensor technology, Reilos's eyes will become the driver's eyes, Reilos's body will become the driver's body, and the driver's brain image will be projected onto the electronic screen, perfectly avoiding the interference of the black fog.
With Boss Jin busy with important matters and Mavis preoccupied with the construction of Blue Dream Company, this important and glorious task could only be entrusted to the idle Zack.
Beria is not so easily fooled; sweet words alone cannot buy him much time. Boss Kim's reason was quite convincing: Zach had just finished training a few days ago.
The purpose of this voyage is to ascertain the state of Gatanothor beneath the fog.
--------
A school of deep-sea fish curiously swam past Reilos's dorsal fin. This enormous monster, originally a top predator in the ocean, now ignored its prey that was right in front of it and simply sank slowly.
The drifting snowflakes fell on Reilos's green skin, sinking deeper into the ocean along with his body.
They had descended to a depth of 3,000 meters in the deep sea, where the temperature was bitterly cold, and even Zach, who was sitting in a swivel chair, shivered.
This is a deep abyss plain, where no light source can penetrate. It is dark all year round, so dark that you can't see your hand in front of your face. Fortunately, Reilos has been modified by alien technology, and the genes from the anglerfish have quietly taken effect, causing Reilos's skin to emit a faint glow.
The light also attracted the attention of other predators lurking in the deep sea, but when they got close and saw Reilos's enormous size, they wisely fled.
Zach held his breath as Reilos's body continued to descend, from 3km to 4km, and continued to sink until it finally reached the designated location.
An invisible barrier enveloped the ruins of R'lyeh, emanating a strong sense of intimidation to any intelligent creatures that passed by; only simple-minded fish swam in and out of it.
Zach took a deep breath. He had stopped here more than once, and now, as he hesitated about whether to take that step, a hand was placed on his shoulder.
"I am with you."
"good!"
Filled with immense courage, Zack finally took that step, and then he saw—
Temple.
Three hundred million years ago, there was a temple of Gatanothor, the dark ruler who once ruled this planet.
The glow emanating from Reilos's skin flickered, as if it might go out at any moment.
The temple gates were already wide open, and the mottled stone pillars rose abruptly from the abyss like the ribs of a giant broken by immense force. The barnacle-covered staircases slanted downwards, each step engraved with twisted runes that glowed with an eerie bluish-green light when the lamplight swept across them. The slumbering master, with its solemn and distorted statues and murals, welcomed the uninvited guests.
PS—The voice actors for Mephisto and Masaki Keigo are the same person, and they are dubbed in Mandarin.
