Chapter 29 mission complete, Tanbata Street
Chapter 29 mission complete, Tanbata Street
Qingwu glanced at the tent not far away again.
Iruka had just fallen asleep.
Even to his perception, there was no chakra fluctuation in Chino's tent, as if she were fast asleep.
"Could a Chunin be so careless on a nighttime mission?"
Once suspicion arose, Qingwu felt that everything about Zhina was problematic.
Did she not know? Or... did she already know?
The figures drew closer; there were four people in total, all dressed in dark clothing.
Qingwu did not disturb Iruka; he pretended to get up and go to the river to fetch water.
This move took him away from the camp, giving the attackers an opportunity to "get away alone".
Sure enough, just as he bent down, his back to the trees...
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Several shuriken shot in from different angles, blocking all his evasive maneuvers.
Qingwu did not dodge; he didn't even turn around.
A dwarf appeared behind them, brandishing a warhammer.
boom!
The powerful force struck the scene, and the shockwave scattered the shuriken in all directions.
at the same time--
Puff, puff, puff!
The wood elf then struck, his arrows piercing the hearts of three enemies with pinpoint accuracy.
"What?" The remaining enemy was startled and turned around without hesitation, leaping onto a tree branch to escape.
However, Qingwu simply stretched out his hand, "Magic Arrow!"
A green arrow pierced through a shoulder, and the figure screamed as he fell from the tree.
"Don't move!" Iruka, who had been awakened by the noise, came over just in time and put a kunai to the figure's neck.
The battle lasted less than a minute from start to finish.
"Qingwu!" Iruka turned around and looked at him anxiously. "Are you alright?"
"It's alright." Qingwu approached and found that the four enemies, including the three corpses, were all wearing standard light armor, making it impossible to identify them.
He crouched down and ripped off the prisoner's mask.
An unfamiliar face, a middle-aged man in his thirties, with fierce eyes.
"A ninja?" Qingwu asked calmly. "Who sent you?"
He didn't believe that a C-rank mission would make a ninja take such a risk.
Generally speaking, C-rank missions usually involve encountering bandits, samurai, or at worst, ninja.
If it involves real ninjas, the mission must be at least rank B.
"Ha!" The man in black spat out a mouthful of blood and didn't say anything.
Without saying a word, Qingwu took out a kunai from his ninja tool bag and stabbed it towards his groin.
Iruka hesitated, but ultimately remained silent.
The profession of ninja... is supposed to be like this!
"puff!"
The middle-aged man's eyes suddenly bulged, "Hmm..."
He suddenly convulsed and foamed at the mouth.
"Something's wrong!" Iruka exclaimed.
"I'll treat him; if he dies, we won't be able to get anything out of him." Chino arrived late.
A rich green light emanated from his hands—"Palm Healing Technique!"
Iruka watched Chino perform the spell with bated breath, and said to Aogo, "This is so strange. You clearly stabbed his lower body, how could it suddenly..."
Qingwu threw away the blood-stained kunai, his eyes filled with even more suspicion.
A moment later, Chino withdrew her Healing Palm Technique and whispered, "He's dead. I'm sorry."
Iruka said, "How did we end up with ninjas? I checked the goods; the employer didn't hide anything."
Qingwu stared at Zhino's expression and slowly said, "He must be a rogue ninja. He's probably short of money, otherwise he wouldn't have taken a liking to these medicinal herbs."
"Mr. Fujita's medicinal herbs are worth a lot of money, but they are already being escorted by a ninja squad..." Iruka didn't finish his sentence, but he also expressed his doubts.
After his last encounter with the Cloud Ninja, Iruka seems to have become much more composed.
"A rogue ninja?" Chino looked at the corpse in surprise. "How could a C-rank mission encounter a rogue ninja?"
The employer, Fujita, then peeked out from behind the tree, trembling, and asked, "Is it... over?"
"It's over." Qingwu gave Chino a deep look. "Go back to rest. Iruka, dispose of the body."
"Yes!" Iruka nodded and left.
"That was terrifying. We haven't even left Konoha that far." Chino looked at the corpse with lingering fear, her expression filled with panic.
"Are you scared? But you seemed quite calm when you were treating him just now," Qingwu suddenly said.
Chino patted the bulge in her chest. "As a medical ninja, I can control my chakra output every time I cast a spell."
That explanation... is reasonable.
Qingwu nodded. People with unstable chakra control cannot become medical ninjas.
Walking back to the campfire, Qingwu sat down again and said, "I'll keep watch. Go and rest."
Chino returned to the tent.
Qingwu closed her eyes and carefully sensed it; her chakra remained as steady as a machine.
However, given his identity as a medical ninja, this "flaw" is not very convincing.
At least for now, Qingwu is still unable to confirm whether she had malicious intent or not.
Silent all night.
The next two days were uneventful.
There were no more attackers, not even a trace of bandits.
The group arrived at Tanbata Street without incident.
After that night, the employer, Fujita, became much more respectful towards the three of them.
He was afraid that the ninja would charge him more money.
After all... when enemies exceeding the mission level appear during a mission, the employer is usually questioned about the possibility of concealment or deliberate downgrading of the mission assignment.
Fortunately, none of this happened.
Qingwu finds it troublesome.
Moreover, he speculated that the attackers were most likely not related to the employer who was just transporting ordinary medicinal materials.
"Thanks to all the ninja masters!"
Fujita readily paid the fee for the mission, "Especially Lord Qingwu, if it weren't for you that night, this batch of goods would have been ruined."
Qingwu accepted the money without saying anything more.
Regardless of who the enemy is, he actually hopes that more attackers will come.
Although there were four enemies that night, he only received a reward of +100 experience, +10 natural energy, and +10 gold coins at the end of the battle.
It is clear that those ninjas were not of high "quality".
"Since we've come all this way, how about we take a day to rest and do some sightseeing?" Chino suggested.
Qingwu turned his head, lingered for a moment in her smiling eyes, and said with a smile, "Okay, that's a good suggestion."
Iruka replied nonchalantly, "The mission is complete, I'm fine with anything."
"Well then, I have an old classmate in Tanabata Street, I'd like to go see her," Chino said with a smile. "We've agreed to meet here again on our way back."
Upon hearing this, Iruka looked at Qingwu and said, "Then let's go buy some things that Konoha doesn't have."
Qingwu returned his smile: "Alright."
The three then parted ways.
However, Qingwu secretly summoned a wood spirit.
Donning a pre-prepared hooded cloak to conceal its pointed ears, the wood elf disappeared into the crowd.
Chino "saw" Chino enter a medical supplies store.
Qingwu led Iruka to a nearby barbecue restaurant and they sat down.
Chino stayed in the shop for a full hour, but when she came out, she only had a few rolls of bandages in her hand.
Are they waiting for someone? Or are they passing on intelligence?
Qingwu wondered if she had developed paranoia...
