Ten years ago, Bart was transferred to Izero City to become mayor. Before that, he had served as the principal of Guberland No. 3 Middle School.
Chad graduated from the Third Gymnasium of Guberland and was once a student of Bart.
"Teacher, you are still as young as you were back then."
Chad excitedly grasped Bart's hand.
"Haha, you still have the same pleasant way of speaking as you did back then."
Bart laughed heartily, then looked at Dora standing behind Chad.
“Lord Bart, hello. I am Dora Brown, an Imperial certified private investigator.”
Noticing that Bart's gaze was on her, Dora immediately put on a polite smile and then gave a brief self-introduction.
"Yes, I've heard of you."
After listening to Dora's self-introduction, Bart nodded slightly. His gaze did not linger on Dora for more than three seconds. After saying a few polite words, he quickly turned back to Chad.
"I am aware of Lord Hibbert's instructions. The city government has arranged accommodation for you. If you need any assistance, please feel free to let us know."
Bart smiled.
"Understood, Lord Laubart."
Chad replied politely, this time without addressing the other person as "teacher."
They just exchanged a few pleasantries; now it's time to get down to work. Public and private matters must be clearly separated. If it brings him benefit, Chad can respect Bart as a teacher, but if it causes him trouble, then Chad's attitude is—"Teacher?! What the hell is that?!"
Society is such a reality.
"This is my job."
Bart also became serious.
“We have confirmed that Helena is in Izero City. First, I need the government to immediately lock down the city.”
Chad, no longer standing on ceremony, immediately gave the orders.
“Chad, a complete lockdown is probably not feasible. Ill-Zero is a city established by nomadic peoples, which would lead to chaos in the city’s operation and social unrest.”
Bart was somewhat perplexed.
"Then strict approval must be given to people leaving and entering the city, especially those leaving the city."
After a moment's hesitation, Chad conceded.
Indeed, a hasty lockdown would have a significant impact.
"Yes, that's fine."
After a moment's thought, Bart agreed.
"..."
Chad then made other demands.
While Chad and Bart were talking, Dora had already said her goodbyes and followed a government official to the room that the government had arranged for her.
The room wasn't large, but it was luxuriously furnished and fully equipped with amenities.
Dora sat down on the elegant white sofa and sighed softly. She had, of course, noticed the hint of disdain in Bart's eyes.
There's nothing I can do; after all, I have Black blood flowing through my veins...
In the Fitcher Empire, although there were long-standing calls for racial equality, discrimination against Black people persisted.
Yes, Dora was a Black girl.
The Fchester Empire is primarily populated by people of yellow and white races, with whites being the majority. Dora, though a Fchester, is black because she is of mixed race.
Dora's mother was a white woman from the Fchester Empire, born into a family of low-ranking civil servants, belonging to the middle class, and living a relatively decent life.
Dora's father was one of the few international students from the "Kingdom of Non-Emigrants," a backward black country south of the empire, who came to study at an ordinary second-tier university in the Fchester Empire.
To add to this, universities in this world are categorized into three tiers: third-tier, second-tier, first-tier, and top-tier. Graduation from a second-tier university doesn't carry much prestige. Of course, this only applies to economically developed Fitch. In other smaller countries, however, a second-tier university degree is highly valued.
Now,
Dora's mother graduated from a second-tier university, where she met Adi, an exchange student from Africa.
Adi, who came from Africa, was bold and open-minded. He had a knack for talking about a bright future for women. Coupled with the general "foreign worship" mentality among female college students, Dora's mother thought having a black boyfriend was something to be very proud of.
After graduation, Dora's mother disregarded her father's objections and insisted on secretly returning to her country with the African-American Brown, concealing from her father the fact that she was pregnant.
Then... then after arriving in the Kingdom of the Unlucky, tragedy naturally ensued.
Adi told Dora's mother that he owned a mine and a large farm in Africa, but in reality, he only had a mud-brick and thatched hut with an area of less than 30 square meters.
In addition, Adi concealed the fact that he already had a family, and after tricking Dora's mother into coming home, Adi took all of Dora's mother's money, burned Dora's mother's Fitcher citizenship certificate, and left the African country alone to travel to other countries.
So Dora's mother was forced to live with Adi's two black wives and his elderly mother. There, Dora's mother was imprisoned, beaten, and forced to have sex with nearby black men in order to get food, etc.
Fortunately, a year later, a bard from the Fester Empire passed through Adi's village and learned about Dora's mother's plight. After returning home, he found Dora's mother's father.
When Dora's grandfather arrived, Dora was almost two years old, while her mother had already been tortured beyond recognition.
However, according to the laws of the African Kingdom, since Dora's mother married into the African Kingdom, she and Dora cannot leave the African Kingdom without the man's consent.
Adi has disappeared to some corner of the world, or perhaps he died in some foreign land; there's no way to find him.
Finally, Dora's grandfather sold his domestic properties and used the proceeds to bribe the Grand Master of the Imperial Knights in Africa. Under the strong pressure from the Imperial Knights, the African government finally made concessions and allowed her grandfather to take Dora away.
And so, Dora's mother remained in the Kingdom of the Undead, while Dora was taken back to Fchester, returning from hell to heaven.
But the grandfather who lost his daughter died soon after, and Dora was sent to an orphanage.
Later, when she was fifteen, she awakened her innate talent and was recognized as a born extraordinary person. So she left the orphanage, joined an adventurer's guild, and became an adventurer.
Later, she set and broke many records during her adventures. A newspaper published her adventure story, and so, amidst everyone's jokes, the name "Dora the Explorer" came about.
Then... she got older, so she used the money she had saved from her adventures to open a detective agency, and life gradually returned to normal.
Brown is Dora's mother's surname...
Dora took out a women's cigarette from her pocket and started smoking it.
Is my mother still in the African country?
Perhaps she is already dead.
But none of that matters anymore. Life is like making choices, and these choices determine your life trajectory. No matter how important a choice is, once you make it, you must bear all the consequences.
That's just how fate is.
Chapter Fifty-Two: Ping'an Town
I didn't drink too much.
After exchanging a few words with Edwin at the dinner table, Leon quickly returned to the palace.
Leon knew perfectly well what Edwin was all about.
Although Edwin appeared very enthusiastic on the surface, Leon believed that the main reason he was willing to befriend him was because Leon was currently the regent prince.
Phrases like "it feels like we've known each other forever" are just excuses to get closer and achieve one's goals.
If he were forced to compete with Leon and the Regent right now, a smart man like Edwin would definitely sell him out without hesitation and quickly stand on the opposite side.
Opportunistic behavior is just basic maneuvering among big shots.
"Your Highness, where did you go this morning? We haven't seen you."
As soon as he returned to the western part of the palace, and had barely sat down at Caesar's desk in his office, before he could even warm up the sofa, Hawkeye appeared.
"I went to the Imperial Prison."
Leon spoke the truth. Although he wanted to hide it, he knew that Hawkeye would definitely investigate behind his back. It wouldn't be difficult for Hawkeye to find out that he had gone to the Imperial Prison. It would be hard to cover up the fact that Hawkeye would find out that he had lied to him.
"What is Your Highness doing there?"
Hawkeye was curious.
"Uh... a personal quirk, is that something you need to know, sir?"
Leon feigned embarrassment.
"Ahem, I apologize, it was my rudeness, please forgive me, Your Highness."
Personal quirks?
What can prisons do?
Could it be...?
Is Your Highness still free of male heirs?
No, there are female prisoners in prison too.
It seems His Highness does indeed enjoy playing with imprisonment, and the priestess who escaped from the palace is the strongest proof of this.
The more Hawkeye thought about it, the stranger it seemed, so he ultimately chose to end the conversation.
"Uh, it's nothing, it's not a big deal, it's just a little embarrassing to talk about."
Leon intensified his efforts to smear himself.
You all think I'm a pervert, so be it, inginging—who can understand the pain of this prince!
Only little Helena knows that I'm a good person.
"Uh……"
For Hawkeye, who doesn't have any perverted hobbies, there's really nothing he can say about this.
"Did you need something from me?"
Seeing that Hawkeye had no intention of pursuing the matter further, Leon decisively changed the subject.
"Um... there is something."
Hawkeye hesitated for a moment before answering.
"whats the matter?"
Leon was puzzled.
“Your Highness, I don’t understand why you would set up a military checkpoint in Ping’an Town. It has no strategic significance and is a complete waste of manpower and resources.”
Hawkeye retorted, “Your Highness, the Empire’s military strength is currently strained. A squad equipped with demigod knights is a vital resource. You don’t understand military matters, so please don’t act impulsively. Honest advice may be hard to hear, but I’m saying all this for Your Highness’s sake. If I have offended you, Your Highness may punish me.”
Ping'an Town Military Checkpoint...
Sure enough, this matter has attracted attention.
Leon felt a slight tremor in his heart, but he did not panic at all, because he had already considered the possible follow-up problems when he took this step.
Deploying troops in a place with no strategic significance is simply a stupid act, and someone will always stand up and criticize it.
"Your Excellency is right, Ping'an Town does not have much strategic significance."
After taking a breath, Leon spoke calmly.
"Since Your Highness also knows it's pointless, why bother with all this?"
Hawkeye said he didn't understand.
"Your Excellency, firstly, the army is not necessarily only used for strategy. Secondly, the knight squad I dispatched only has twelve people, and they were drawn from my own security guard."
Leon spoke in a calm and unhurried tone.
"What do you mean, Your Highness?"
“Ping’an Town actually has good economic value. I plan to develop tourism projects there. I don’t know much about the military, but I do understand the economic aspects.”
Leon smiled.
"Is that so?"
Hawkeye doesn't understand economics.
"Is such that."
Leon originally planned to develop the economy of Peace Town and make Anna and the others rich. However, now that Helena is in danger, he must protect Helena first. Moreover, he is busy with official duties and has no time to take care of Peace Town. He doesn't even have time to go and inspect it or see Anna.
"That's fine."
