Chapter 52: Heartless
Chapter 52: Heartless
"This is insane!"
As soon as Harry ran into the church, he saw a dark shadow flash past him.
Upon closer inspection, it was the raven named Oz, who was running (flying) in sync with him.
"Why are you here?!" Harry asked as he ran.
"What do you mean, why am I here?" Oz turned to look at him and asked in return.
He had no interest in seeing that perverted old man; Peter could handle it all by himself.
Harry slammed on the brakes, his expensive leather shoes making a sharp screech on the smooth marble floor.
"Ha, rich people just don't care about shoes, unlike my Peter who even needs a uniform—oh dear!"
The crow sneered, then crashed headfirst into a wall.
Harry: ......
He pinched his brow and said, "So you're just a talking raven? You have no other abilities to help Peter???"
"I have so many abilities you can't even count them all. That little bird didn't even require my help. But you..."
Oz shook his head. "You should be prepared for your son to pay for your father's debts, or my little Peter will be the one to suffer."
"What do you mean?" Harry felt that the dead bird's words had a hidden meaning.
Oz flew onto Harry's shoulder, and the latter shooed him away as if in disgust, only to find that when he waved his hand, he had simply missed!
Then he subconsciously glanced at the wall.
"Ouch!"
Harry covered the back of his head and glared at Oz.
Oz gently stroked Harry's head, as if comforting a pet.
"The saying 'the sins of the father are paid by the son' means that your father committed many sins and did too many bad things, making too many enemies in his lifetime."
"Now that your father is dead, those people have nowhere to seek revenge, so they can only set their sights on you."
"If you don't handle this well and cause a lot of trouble, then it'll be my little spider's turn to clean up the mess, won't it?"
Harry fell silent after hearing this. He had heard that angry roar outside, which clearly indicated that the person was looking for him.
Moreover, I haven't done anything stupid or caused any trouble.
Combining this with what Oz said, it seems to make sense.
"What should I do then?"
------
"What should I do then!?"
The vulture roared and flapped its wings, which instantly turned from soft to sharp, slicing a gash in the wall above the church.
"You're telling me not to cause him trouble?! Why should I?!"
"Let's calm down first. Maybe I gave the wrong suggestion, but let's calm down first, okay?"
Peter quickly shot out spider silk, firmly sticking the rolling pebbles to the wall to prevent them from falling and hitting pedestrians on the street.
After taking these safety precautions, Peter looked up and met the vulture's fierce gaze.
He felt some regret.
He wasn't very familiar with the feud between Vulture and Osborne.
He felt that now that Osborne was dead, the Vulture should perhaps let go of his hatred instead of directing it at Harry.
But to his surprise, the vulture's face immediately changed after he said those words.
I wanted to fight him right there and then!
"spider."
The vulture took a deep breath, trying to keep itself calm.
"Osborne took everything from me, he made a mess of my life, and you expect me to just let him go like that... Absolutely not!"
Peter tried to persuade him: "But Harry is innocent. He shouldn't be held responsible for this sin."
"fart!"
The vulture wanted to flap its wings again to vent its emotions, but after seeing the boy in front of it instinctively take a stand, it abandoned the idea.
At that moment, his heart felt icy cold.
He didn't continue explaining why he insisted on causing trouble for Harry Osborn, but instead asked the other man a question in return.
"If I insist on causing him trouble, will you choose to oppose me?"
Upon hearing this, Peter couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
"Don't do that, vulture," he said.
"Harry is my friend, and I know him well. I believe he will welcome you to the Osborn Group after seeing your invention."
Vulture snorted. "So you're an employee of the Osborn Group now?"
"That's not true."
Peter shook his head, looking at the little old man in the green flight suit with a complicated expression.
"I just don't want you to make a huge mistake because of a dead person's mistake."
"Norman Osborne is dead, and perhaps this is the price he paid for the mistakes he made, but I still believe his son is innocent."
"You can't let yourself get caught up in hatred and end up hurting innocent people."
He knows the taste of hatred, and he can still feel it to this day.
Uncle Ben's death plunged him into this emotional state.
He was just a hair's breadth away from making a terrible mistake.
Therefore, when he saw the vulture, he also did not want it to make a mistake.
Peter knew that he might be asking too much, since the other party had genuinely suffered harm from Norman Osborn.
But I am just an outsider.
"..."
After listening to Peter's words, the vulture remained silent for a long time. After a moment, he raised his head and said something that didn't fit the current situation.
"Do you remember when I said I owed you a favor?"
Peter nodded; it was a phrase the vulture had said during their second meeting.
He appeared right after I finished dealing with Dragon, probably out of... "repayment"?
He said he owed him a favor.
Frankly, Peter felt it was completely unnecessary.
"I remember, what's wrong?"
The vulture folded its wings, and the engine unit on its back flight suit began to make a loud whirring sound.
"That's the end of this favor. From now on, we have no further connection!"
"etc--"
Before Peter could finish speaking, the engine on the vulture's back ignited instantly.
With a whoosh, it soared into the sky, and then its pair of emerald green wings unfolded and disappeared into the clouds.
"What have I done...?"
Peter slapped his forehead in regret, convinced he must have said something wrong.
Everything the other side has done so far seems to be for the purpose of one day taking revenge on Norman.
As a result, he's here pretending to be a nice guy and advising others to be magnanimous.
"Ugh!"
Peter scratched his head vigorously; he really didn't know what to do.
It wouldn't be fair to Harry if I didn't tell him.
Tell me, it's unfair to the vultures.
Although the two people clearly hold unequal importance in his heart, some things are not determined by relationships.
"I need to talk to Harry and ask him to bring the vulture back to Osborn."
Peter thought to himself, then put on his suit jacket, jumped down into an inconspicuous corner, and after making sure no one had noticed him, returned to the church.
At this point, the sermon in the church seemed to have come to an end, and all those who had come to pay their respects were offering their highest respects to the black and gold coffin, as if the person lying in the coffin were their own relative, though it was unclear who they were doing it for.
Guided by his instincts, Peter finally spotted Harry... and Oz in a corner.
Oz stood on Harry's shoulder, raised one wing to cover his mouth, and muttered something under his breath.
Harry's head bowed, ears perked up, and the way he nodded from time to time made Peter feel exhausted.
Those two heartless bastards.
One doesn't care that his father has died.
one......
Forget about Oz, let's not talk about him.
