Chapter 36: The Consequences of Removing the Breathing Tube
Chapter 36: The Consequences of Removing the Breathing Tube
late at night.
After parting ways with Gwen, Peter returned home with Oz.
For Aunt Mei, who is quite old, it was already very late, and she had long since gone to sleep.
Peter wasn't very sleepy at the moment; he was mending his tattered Spider-Man suit stitch by stitch.
"Where's the money?"
"What money?"
"It's the money the newspaper gave you! Didn't you say you were setting aside some to buy materials for new uniforms? So all you bought me were fries?"
Oz watched the boy's nimble fingers threading the needle and couldn't help but feel puzzled.
Peter smiled, his hands still busy. "I did want to buy one, but I think my current uniform is fine enough. I can just mend it a bit and it'll still be usable, so I decided to save the money."
Oz said "Oh," then rolled over on the ground and suddenly spotted a similar model.
So he jumped up, picked up the little bird model, and took a closer look.
"What is this?"
"An interesting invention I came across while shopping with Gwen... By the way, what exactly did you mean by pulling out someone's breathing tube? You can't actually do it, can you?!"
Peter seemed to remember something, put down his needle and thread, and looked at Oz seriously.
Pulling out someone's breathing tube.
Gwen probably thought this was just another instance of Oz spouting nonsense.
But knowing Oz as he did, this guy might actually have pulled someone else's breathing tube!
Oz said, "Well, you're wearing your battle armor again now, you'll see in a few days!"
Peter: "..."
He paused for a moment, then said, "You don't seem surprised at all that I've chosen to remain Spider-Man?"
"An accident? Isn't this the normal procedure?"
Oz returned to the position he had been lying on the ground, his wings flapping back and forth on the floor.
"It's perfectly normal to become a hero, give up being a hero for some reason, and then continue to be a hero because of some belief."
Peter wanted to ask more, but then Oz said:
"Okay, I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going to sleep, bye-bye."
After he finished speaking, he saw Oz close his eyes, kick his legs, and a big bubble came out of the nostrils of his beak!
This unusual appearance piqued Peter's curiosity.
He put down his needlework and stepped forward to poke the bubbles with his finger.
The next second, instead of popping the bubble with a finger, a burning pain shot through her face, as if she had been slapped by a lizard's tail.
"You bastard!"
Peter was slightly annoyed but helpless, so he let Oz sleep and went back to repairing the spider costume.
After working for a while, all the holes and tears in his uniform were filled in. Peter then stretched and yawned.
He draped his usual coat over Oz, then picked up the bird model that the strange little old man had given him that evening and went back to bed.
Peter put his hand behind his head, leaned against the headboard, and carefully observed the scientific techniques used in the bird model.
"Removing someone's breathing tube?"
Although his eyes were fixed on the bird model, his mind drifted to Oz's earlier words.
After thinking for a while without coming up with a solution, Peter simply gave up on thinking about it.
Since Oz said we'd know in a few days, let's wait and see.
......
......
......
An ordinary New York City.
An ordinary day.
Huff—
Two figures flashed quickly across the city sky.
Police officers patrolling the streets were suddenly drawn to a commotion coming from the sky above the city.
"This is Adam, above the north end of Baker Street. Spider-Man is fighting someone in flight technology... We need..."
He immediately fiddled with the walkie-talkie he was wearing on his chest, but before he could finish speaking, he saw Spider-Man being pulled away by the green figure on a web and disappear from sight.
"Officer, please repeat your request."
"I think it's unnecessary; they've left Baker Street."
......
"Hey buddy, I don't think I know you, do I?!"
Spider-Man gripped his webs tightly and glanced at the green figure above. The figure was wearing a highly technological flight suit, with a pair of steel wings spread out in the air, blocking out most of the light in his field of vision.
Whether you know me or not is irrelevant; all I need is for you to come with me!
Dragon flipped in mid-air, and the thrusters on his back instantly reversed direction, accelerating with powerful force!
boom--
Wow!
Spider-Man was momentarily thrown off balance by the sudden flip, but his long-term practice of swinging on webs at high altitudes had already honed his amazing reflexes.
He quickly adjusted his posture, shot out a strand of spider silk that stuck to the surface of the tall building, and then pulled hard with his other hand, instantly stopping the power source of Dragon's flight suit.
"first!"
Spider-Man had no intention of wrestling with his opponent. He had learned from his previous fight with the Lizard that while he was very strong, there was no need to use that strength in a physical confrontation.
Suddenly, he released his hand from the spiderweb stuck between the tall buildings, and the force propelled him to fly in front of Dragon in the blink of an eye.
boom!
Like a pebble on a slingshot, Spider-Man punched Delamar's mask.
"Before asking me out, you couldn't even say 'please'! Is saying 'please' that hard? Or did you never want to ask me out at all? Since you're not asking me out and your attitude is so rude, why should I go with you?!"
A barrage of words, coupled with Spider-Man's punch, caused Dragon to momentarily feel dizzy.
A heavy touch came from his back; Spider-Man had already jumped onto Dragon's back.
He hesitated for a moment, wondering whether it would be more practical to directly dismantle the other party's energy core, or to force the other party to stop through other means.
But the battlefield changes in an instant, leaving him no time to think; Dragon's reaction was much faster than Spider-Man's.
Suddenly, the steel wings that were spread out on both sides of him made a strange bend, and the wingtips were as sharp as blades, stabbing straight at Spider-Man's ribs!
"Holy shoot!"
Spider-Man's eyes widened, and he performed a backflip.
It was during this backflip that Dragon seized the opportunity, launching a grappling hook from his flight suit and securing Spider-Man firmly.
"Seriously, buddy?! Even if I don't agree to go on a date with you, you don't have to kidnap me!"
Spider-Man tries to break free of the grappling hook, but the hook appears to be made of some kind of fiber, and the harder he tries, the tighter it binds him.
"Shut your stinking mouth!"
Dragon said impatiently, ramping up the power of his flight suit and increasing the speed further.
Whenever Spider-Man tries to break free of the restraints, he flips his body in mid-air, making it impossible for Spider-Man to exert any force.
Just when he thought the mission was about to be successfully completed, a playful voice rang out again.
It's not Spider-Man.
Instead...
A crow?
A black raven appeared beside them without them noticing, and its flight speed was parallel to theirs!
"That's what I mean by pulling someone's breathing tube," Oz said.
"It's you, it's you, you damned crow!"
Dragon didn't hear Oz's words, but he couldn't forget the appearance of that raven. If it weren't for the sudden appearance of that dead raven last night, he wouldn't have been flying around New York City 24 hours a day!
Thinking of this, he decisively reached out his claws to grab Oz.
But the next moment, his vision was suddenly blocked by a white obstruction, and he instantly lost sight of his target.
After shooting his webs, Spider-Man glanced at Oz. With his ever-sharp mind, he understood everything in that brief moment.
Oz's mention of pulling someone's breathing tube was no joke!
It really did pull out someone's breathing tube!
Moreover, the target of his scathing attack was none other than Norman Osborn, who was obsessed with him!
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been swinging on a spider web and suddenly been kidnapped!
This guy is absolutely wicked!
"I hate you, Oz!"
......
......
... (Bonus scene)
Spider-Man is injured again.
This time, the injury made it impossible for him to even get up.
Seeing this, Oz jumped to his side and whispered frantically near his ear.
With great power comes great responsibility.
"?What are you doing?"
"I heard that this can also fully restore your energy."
Spider-Man was speechless, and shakily stretched out one hand.
"Where's that potion I made with monthly passes, favorites, and follower engagement?! I need this!"
