The rise of the poor

Chapter 2286 We're Professionals

Chapter 2286 We're Professionals

Although the samurai let Luo Longwen and his group go, they still stood behind the shop assistants, holding their katana and staring intently at them, showing their support for the shop assistants.

"Please book one superior room and three ordinary rooms. Here is the room fee."

Luo Longwen was a fickle opportunist; he was quicker to back down than anyone else, taking out twenty-five taels of silver from his pocket and placing it on the counter.

"Sorry, that's not enough." The shop assistant took the twenty-five taels of silver in his hand and shook his head at Luo Longwen.

Luo Longwen was stunned. "Not enough?! How could it not be enough? A superior room costs ten taels of silver, a regular room costs five taels of silver, a superior room costs ten taels of silver, and three regular rooms cost fifteen taels of silver. That adds up to twenty-five taels of silver!"

"That's right, I counted it on my fingers twice, it's definitely twenty-five taels of silver. Buddy, are you sure you didn't miscalculate?!"

The two lackeys chimed in.

The shop assistant looked at Luo Longwen and his group with a leisurely air, and chuckled, "Hehe, I miscalculated?! No, you guys miscalculated!"

"We made a mistake?! Impossible! I'm not good at composing poems or painting, and I'm not good at writing essays, but I'm an expert in math, especially when it comes to money. I would never make a mistake." Luo Longwen said confidently. He would never make a mistake about a single penny when it came to money. Money was his lifeline, how could he make a mistake about his lifeline?

"You've miscalculated!" the shop assistant said, more confident than him.

"Where did we make a mistake?!" Luo Longwen clasped his hands in protest, insisting that he would never have made a mistake when it came to money!

"A superior room costs ten taels of silver, and a regular room costs five taels of silver. Those were the prices before, but now the prices have gone up." The shop assistant crossed his arms, squinted at Luo Longwen and the others, and said casually.

ha? !

Prices have gone up?!

Holy crap, you guys just raise prices like that?!

Luo Longwen was dumbfounded, as if he had swallowed a mouthful of excrement. He was about to curse when he saw the samurai behind the shop assistant carrying Japanese swords, looking at them with hostility. He could only swallow his curses.

"How much did it go up?!" Luo Longwen took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and asked, suppressing his anger.

"Now the price has doubled. A superior room costs twenty taels of silver, and a common room costs ten taels of silver. If you want a superior room and three common rooms, the total cost is fifty taels of silver. You have already paid twenty-five taels of silver, but you still owe twenty-five taels of silver. Do you want to pay now, or do you want to pay now, or do you want to pay now?"

The shop assistant extended his hand to Luo Longwen, leaving them no room to refuse.

"Holy crap, you guys really are something else."

One of the lackeys couldn't help himself; if the captain hadn't covered his mouth, he would have blurted out the words "black shop."

"Shut up if you don't want to die!" the captain whispered in the henchman's ear. "Don't drag us down with you if you're courting death!"

"Huh? What are we really?!" The samurai behind the shopkeeper glared at the lackey, pointed his katana at the captain, and ordered, "Let him go, let him finish. I want to hear what we really are!"

The captain bowed and scraped, releasing his hand from the lackey's mouth and retreating with a fawning smile.

"You guys really got your money's worth!"

Like master, like lackey; he quickly backed down and changed his words.

"Hmph, so are you going to pay now, or pay now, or pay now?!" The samurai, holding his katana, looked at Luo Longwen and the others.

"Pay now, pay now!" Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Luo Longwen decisively took out another twenty-five taels of silver from his pocket.

"One superior room and three ordinary rooms, please come in, sir."

The shop assistant took the money, his face beaming with a warm smile, and led Luo Longwen and the others upstairs to check in.

Luo Longwen had a superior cabin all to himself, his two lackeys shared a regular cabin, and the captain, Ah San, and several crew members shared two regular cabins.

"Why isn't there hot water? Give us a pot of hot water." After checking into the superior room, Luo Longwen felt thirsty and found that there was no hot water. So he called over a waiter and asked him to bring a pot of hot water.

"Hot water, one hundred coins a pot." The shop assistant held out his hand.

"Hot water costs money?!" Luo Longwen exclaimed incredulously.

The shop assistant nodded and counted on his fingers, saying, "Fresh water is hard to come by on the island; it has to be transported from outside. And boiling water requires firewood, all of which cost money. So our hot water also costs money."

"You..." Luo Longwen wanted to curse, but he held back when he thought of the samurai with a sword at the inn.

"Sir, would you like some more hot water?" the waiter asked.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Bring me a pot of hot water!" Luo Longwen was furious. He took out a piece of silver and threw it to the shop assistant.

We're dying of thirst, can't we do without hot water?

Luo Longwen initially thought that only hot water would cost money, but he soon realized something was wrong—everything cost money.

Room cleaning is charged at 100 coins per cleaning; changing bed linens is charged at 100 coins per changing; bath water is charged at 300 coins per tub; wash water is also charged at 100 coins per basin; providing a chamber pot is charged, and emptying the chamber pot is also charged, and so on.

There was only one room available, and everything else was chargeable. Luo Longwen was furious, but thinking of the samurai with the Japanese sword in the inn, he could only suppress his anger and dared not lash out.

While Luo Longwen was fuming in his room, the captain took Ah San out of the inn and to the island's clinic.

There is only one clinic on the island. The clinic is neither too big nor too small, and there are three doctors on duty.

Since it was already evening, there weren't many people in the clinic, so the captain led Ah San into the clinic.

"Are you here to get medicine or for a consultation?" the clinic's clerk asked, approaching the captain and the Indian man.

"We'll consult a doctor, but we'll need a consultation with all the doctors in our clinic." The captain took out a tael of silver and discreetly slipped it into the waiter's hand.

"Understood. The gentlemen are all here. Please wait in the private room for a moment, and I will go and call them over." The waiter sensibly led the captain and Ah San to the private room.

Soon, three doctors arrived.

"Which of you is the patient? Let us take your pulse," the three doctors asked.

"The patient is not here," the captain replied.

"The patient isn't here, how can we have a consultation?" The three doctors were taken aback.

The captain took out a silver note and placed it on the table. "Although the patient is no longer here, I know all about his condition."

“This…” The three doctors exchanged glances.

The captain then took out another silver note and placed it on the table.

After about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the captain and Ah San emerged from the private room with beaming faces, clasped their hands in farewell to the three doctors, and said, "We entrust everything to the three divine physicians. We will also send you a generous gift afterward."

"Don't worry, we're professionals." The three doctors smiled and saw them off. (End of Chapter)
