Chapter 68 Goodbye, Tonks
Chapter 68 Goodbye, Tonks
"Mr. Moody said that no matter how talented someone is, they have to finish their studies at Hogwarts first." Tonks smiled sheepishly. "You did such a good job; I'd completely forgotten you haven't even started school yet!"
"Anyway, let's talk about formal Auror training after you graduate, shall we?"
"But if you'd like, I can teach you some things in advance during the holidays."
Tonks said confidently, "By the time you graduate, I'll definitely be an elite Auror. Sign up, and I'll be your teacher!"
Lucas hesitated for a moment, but seeing Tonks's beaming face and excited expression, he remained silent.
In fact, I never said I wanted to be an Auror!
I'm just interested in practical magic applications; my real dream is to become a magical chef.
Even if Moody hadn't said that, Lucas already realized that he still had a lot to learn.
Although Tonks called me a genius, it was only because of my superb culinary skills and knife skills, and my meticulous control over the power exerted by my upper body, waist, back, shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, palms, and fingers.
He only managed to use a feint with his wrist when he was standing upright and casting the spell, but this can only be called casting spells while standing still.
Once you're actually fighting in motion, you need to observe your opponent's shoulders, feet, and wrists while coordinating your upper and lower body to launch an effective attack while successfully dodging. It's impossible to do that without years of hard work and consistent training.
Besides, I only know a few spells right now, and I must keep improving my spellcasting skills, from level one to level five, and then to level six silent casting... That's a long journey, and I can't slack off.
In short, existing skills need to be refined and improved, and those that have not yet been mastered need to be learned and practiced.
I've only just seen this door, which is a good starting point, but I'm still a long, long way from truly entering the inner sanctum.
"Okay, thank you, Tonks." Lucas stood up with a smile. "You're leaving early tomorrow morning? Let me treat you to a good time tonight."
Tonks' eyes lit up and he jumped up.
"Oh, that's exactly what I was waiting to hear!"
Upon hearing this, Hannah immediately threw down the playing cards, causing a violent explosion.
"Preparing dinner so early today? Ellie, tonight you'll get to taste the world's best... uh, you've had Lucas's cooking before, haven't you?"
Ellie hummed in agreement, "I guess so. It smelled so good in the forest. What, does Lucas cook for you guys every day?"
Hannah nodded happily, while Ellie's eyes widened in surprise.
Oh no, there's a murderous aura!
Lucas quickly disappeared into the kitchen.
"Lucas McGregor!"
……
At night, the group from Leaky Cauldron gathered around a round table, enjoying the fragrant and delicious food.
Many bar patrons were drooling with envy, but unable to buy anything, they could only angrily finish their drinks and leave early to avoid seeing the sight of the drink.
"Wow, France, Italy, Spain..." Old Tom was dazzled and exclaimed in admiration, "A collection of famous dishes from various countries. Today I have truly witnessed what a genius chef is."
"It's not a famous dish, just some home-style cooking," Lucas said with a smile. He had deliberately avoided making any Asian dishes today. "Please try it, my guests."
There was no need for him to even call out; the round table was already a flurry of knives and forks, spoons flying, and plates and bowls clinking softly.
Ellie, Hannah, and Tonks were all stuffed with food, and could only occasionally utter a word of praise like "Merlin."
Ellie is the strongest fighter. Her eyes gleam, she moves with lightning speed, and she wields her knife and fork in a whirlwind as she eats without any hesitation. Even Tonks is intimidated by her aura.
Lucas looked at her with a smile, at this girl who grew up in the wilderness, surrounded by dragons since childhood, and raised on a secluded island. Forget about table manners? Forget about ladylike manners? This is what straightforwardness is all about—that's Ellie!
The meal consisted of six courses: mushroom soup with puff pastry, Spanish garlic shrimp, confit duck leg, white wine stewed mussels, pasta with assassins, and finally, dessert, chilled crème brûlée.
Lucas, on the other hand, was much more elegant. He watched with satisfaction as the group ate heartily, taking only small portions of each dish. Pepper, perched on Lucas's shoulders, looked down arrogantly at the girls who had no regard for their image.
Because when these dishes were being plated, Lucas had taken a bite from each dish and put it in a small bowl for Pepper to taste and train.
Now it flaps its wings and cries out, "Oh, son of a bitch! Eat my—"
Before he could utter the swear word, Lucas grabbed the bird's beak.
The food was so tempting that Tonks was so engrossed in eating that he didn't have time to cause trouble for Pepper.
Only old Tom remained calm, chatting with Lucas.
"A meal like this can only be found in upscale restaurants in Diagon Alley. It's quite expensive; it would cost at least several hundred gallons," Tom joked. "We've all gotten a great deal today. If Rita Skeeter came again, we could probably get a few more articles out of it."
Lucas laughed. "Forget it, I don't want to face Skeeter again. Mr. Abbott, which restaurant in Diagon Alley is the most famous? I'd like to try it."
Now Gringotts has nearly 400 Galleons in its coffers, which gives Lucas plenty of confidence.
Now, I can finally enjoy the magical feast I've been looking forward to!
Tom named a few people, which Lucas remembered, and he decided to book a table for them the next day.
Tonks stuffed the last piece of caramel pudding into her mouth, then sprawled back in her chair without any regard for her image, patting her belly contentedly, her pink hair shimmering.
"Lucas, how can I live without you? I don't want to leave you for special training anymore..."
Ellie took the last bite of the duck leg and gulped down the mushroom soup.
"Merlin's underwear!" Ellie grabbed Lucas tightly, her eyes gleaming. "Now I know what food is! What have I been eating for the past eleven years on this island?!"
She suddenly became furious again: "Lucas, you're absolutely awful! This is the first time I've had this in so many days! How could you betray our friendship?"
Lucas readily surrendered: "Okay, Ellie, I'm planning to try some magical food tomorrow, and I'd like to invite you to come with me, okay?"
Hannah hesitated for a moment, then raised her hand: "Can I come with you? I... I'll pay for it myself."
......
The next morning, Tonks stood in front of the fireplace at the Leaky Cauldron and gave Lucas a big hug.
As Lucas parted from her, a large pig's snout suddenly appeared in front of him, startling him so much that he leaned back.
"Hahaha..." Tonks laughed triumphantly, turning his pig nose back to normal. "Goodbye, Lucas. Study hard at school, and I'll check on your progress during the holidays."
"I'll write to you, and you must write back!"
"Of course," Lucas nodded with a smile.
Tonks waved, turned around with a flourish, and then—
Her foot got caught in the fireplace, and with a scream, she plunged headfirst into the demonic fire and vanished.
Uh, it seems she hasn't called out the address yet.
I hope you're alright... Take care, Tonks.
You go to receive Mr. Moody's rigorous training, and I go to Hogwarts. We both have bright futures ahead of us.
Alright, let's calm down, get the money from Gringotts, and get ready for my first magical culinary experience!
I've been waiting for this for so long!
