Chapter 24 Memories
Chapter 24 Memories
Jiraiya, sent flying by Hiruzen Sarutobi's punch, traced a graceful arc before crashing heavily to the ground with a loud thud. His legs twitched twice as he fell, dangling in the air.
Just as Kakashi realized what was happening and was about to help Jiraiya up, he saw that Jiraiya had instantly recovered to full health.
Jiraiya suddenly jumped up and walked nonchalantly to the Hokage's desk, complaining, "What are you doing, old man! You're so old, why are you still so irritable? But your strength is indeed not what it used to be, much weaker than Tsunade's punch."
Kakashi: ......
As expected of Jiraiya-sama, both in terms of strength and personality.
And, it's really great that Minato-sensei doesn't resemble either the Third Hokage or Jiraiya-sama.
Kakashi expressed his heartfelt gratitude.
Seeing Jiraiya's unreliable behavior, Hiruzen Sarutobi felt his fists itching again.
Taking a deep breath and suppressing the urge to punch Jiraiya again, he coldly questioned, "What nonsense are you spouting! How could Minato possibly have an illegitimate daughter! Have you finally lost your mind from writing all those ridiculous novels?!"
At this moment, Kakashi also looked at Jiraiya with a deep gaze, for this matter concerned Minato's reputation!
Jiraiya realized from Hiruzen Sarutobi's attitude that he might have misunderstood something. His mind, which had been a complete mess since hearing Naruto's words by the river, finally began to calm down.
He recounted what had just happened to Hiruzen Sarutobi, and then, in an attempt to deflect blame, said, "So you can't blame me for misunderstanding!"
Hiruzen Sarutobi's eye twitched, and he couldn't help but curse again: "Just because of that one random sentence, you think Mavis is Naruto's sister? Is this how I taught you to gather information, you idiot!"
After hearing Jiraiya's explanation, Kakashi helplessly covered his forehead, speechless, and emphasized again, "Lord Jiraiya, Mavis is absolutely not Naruto's sister!"
Furthermore, Minato-sensei absolutely did not wrong Kushina-sensei!
"Really? That's great, haha, hahaha." Jiraiya, finally realizing his blunder, laughed awkwardly. He silently thought to himself: Minato, teacher, I just misunderstood, you'll understand, right?
(At this moment, Minato, who is communicating with Kurama inside the Shinigami's belly, smiles: Okay, Jiraiya-sensei, I hope Kushina can understand too.)

Jiraiya then skipped over the slightly awkward topic, cleared his throat twice, and changed the subject, saying, "So, old man, what exactly is the purpose of calling me back to Konoha in such a hurry?"
When it came to serious matters, Hiruzen Sarutobi and Kakashi's expressions instantly turned serious.
Kakashi stepped forward and recounted the events involving Zeref, Mavis, and Orochimaru that had occurred during this period.
As Jiraiya listened to Kakashi's description, his expression gradually became serious.
At this moment, he finally understood why Hiruzen Sarutobi had unexpectedly summoned him back to Konoha.
"Is that girl named Mavis I met actually from another world?" Jiraiya said in surprise. "She just looks like a frail little girl."
Hiruzen Sarutobi said in a deep voice, "Don't underestimate her, Jiraiya. According to her, she and Zeref are much older than they appear."
Jiraiya's expression turned even more surprised: "Oh? That's really unexpected."
He scratched his chin and pondered, "No wonder Orochimaru was attracted to Zeref. Orochimaru must be insanely jealous."
It has to be said that Jiraiya's guess was absolutely correct, considering they were former teammates, and perhaps even best friends.
"However, the ninja world is cruel enough as it is, are we going to drag in the conflicts of another world too?" Jiraiya sighed and said.
Hiruzen Sarutobi silently took out his pipe again, turned to Kakashi, and ordered, "Kakashi, go and invite Mavis here."
"Yes, Hokage-sama." Kakashi nodded in agreement and instantly disappeared from the Hokage's office.
On the riverbank, facing Jiraiya's sudden appearance and departure, Mavis and Naruto exchanged glances, both somewhat puzzled.
"Oh no!" Mavis suddenly exclaimed.
Naruto looked at Mavis with a puzzled expression and asked, "What's wrong, Mavis?"
Mavis said with a look of regret, "I didn't have time to explain to that person that we're not siblings."
"What does it matter?" Naruto pursed his lips, put his hands behind his head, and said, "It's just that the old man misunderstood. Besides, that old man looks weird."
It can only be said that Jiraiya not only failed to make a brilliant appearance in front of Naruto as he had hoped, but also left Naruto with the impression that he was unreliable.
However, after spending time with him, Naruto will find that Jiraiya... is indeed not very reliable, but that's another story.
Just as Mavis and Naruto continued their conversation, Kakashi suddenly appeared in front of them.
The moment Naruto saw Kakashi, his eyes lit up, and he immediately rushed to Kakashi, asking with shining eyes, "Kakashi-sensei, are you here to help me train?"
Looking into Naruto's bright, expectant eyes, Kakashi suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
A bead of cold sweat appeared on his forehead. He coughed and said, "I'm here to take Mavis to see the Hokage."
"What the hell!" Naruto glared at Kakashi reproachfully and complained, "You didn't come here to train with me?"
Thinking of Jiraiya, who would likely be staying in Konoha for the foreseeable future, Kakashi smiled and reached out to ruffle Naruto's hair, saying, "Well, barring any unforeseen circumstances, an even stronger teacher will soon come to teach you. At that time, I'm afraid I won't even have the chance to teach you anymore."
Naruto's eyes lit up, and he asked, "Really? Is the person who taught me strong? Stronger than Kakashi-sensei?"
Kakashi smiled and nodded, affirming, "That's right, much stronger than me."
Naruto's eyes shone even brighter as he murmured, "The person who taught me is stronger than Kakashi-sensei, so after being taught by him, I'll definitely be stronger than Sasuke who was taught by Kakashi-sensei, right? Ahahahahaha!"
Kakashi and Mavis, watching Naruto's smug laughter: ...That's not how it's calculated, Naruto!
Kakashi was speechless, yet also amused. He looked at Mavis and said, "Let's go, Mavis."
Mavis nodded, said goodbye to Naruto, and then walked with Kakashi toward the Hokage's office.
On the way, Mavis asked curiously, "Kakashi, is that the ninja you mentioned who will teach Naruto the one we just saw by the river? The one with white hair and the 'oil' character on his forehead?"
Kakashi looked at Mavis with some surprise and asked, "Why do you think it would be him?"
Mavis smiled slyly and said, "That ninja just now seemed quite strong, and it seemed like he was initially after Naruto, but then..."
At this point, Mavis looked somewhat speechless: "He seemed to have misunderstood me as Naruto's older sister and kept asking Naruto questions. Before I could explain, he left quickly."
Then, Mavis explained to Kakashi the whole story of what had just happened by the river.
Finally, he said, "So, he really cares about Naruto, and considering that he knows nothing about my situation, he is probably a ninja who has just returned to Konoha. Kakashi, you never mentioned before that Naruto would have a new teacher, but you mentioned it after that white-haired ninja came back, so I guess that the ninja who will teach Naruto in the future is probably him."
Kakashi's gaze turned serious. Looking at Mavis's confident smile, he couldn't help but exclaim, "You're really smart, Mavis."
Mavis raised her chin and smiled confidently, "After all, I am a mage from Fairy Tail."
"Fairy Tail, that's the name of your mage guild, right?" Kakashi asked curiously.
Mavis nodded vigorously, her face filled with nostalgia: "Fairy Tail is my home, and my comrades in the guild are my family. No matter what happens, as long as we have the support of our comrades, we will not be afraid of any difficulties!"
Kakashi listened silently, imagining what Fairy Tail's guild was like from Mavis's words.
Suddenly, Kakashi asked, "The mage guilds in your world also rely on taking on quests to survive, right? So, if a quest conflicts with your companions, what choice would you make?"
"Of course, we'll choose our companions!" Mavis said without hesitation, not for a second. "No matter what the mission is, we will never abandon our companions! That's Fairy Tail!"
"...I see...That sounds good..." Kakashi lowered his head, concealing the complex emotions in his eyes, and spoke softly.
"By the way, why is it called Fairy Tail?" Kakashi changed the subject.
Mavis noticed that Kakashi seemed a little off, but seeing that Kakashi didn't want to talk about it, she didn't press him for details.
Upon hearing Kakashi's question, Mavis's memories instantly returned to the time when Fairy Tail was founded.
She gave a bright, nostalgic smile and said, "Do fairies really have tails? Or rather, do fairies even exist? This is an eternal mystery, an eternal adventure. That's why I named the guild Fairy Tail."
Meeting Kakashi's surprised eyes, Mavis tilted her head and smiled: "I seem to have forgotten to tell you, I am the first guild master of Fairy Tail."
Seemingly transported back to the past by Kakashi's question, Mavis turned to look at the distant sky, and images of her companions and guild flashed through her mind one by one.
She couldn't help but say the exact same words she had on the day Fairy Tail was founded: "I hope this guild is a guild that values harmony and is like a big family. Being a comrade isn't just about words; it's about being able to unconditionally and sincerely believe in each other."
"Rely on me as much as you want, because one day I will need to rely on you too. No matter when you encounter pain or sorrow, I will be by your side. You are never alone."
"The stars shining in the sky are all hopes, and the breeze that caresses our skin is a premonition of the future. Let's take a step together, in harmony with the songs of the fairies."
Kakashi stared blankly at Mavis's retreating figure as she spoke, feeling as if the description Mavis had given him was a dream come true.
Mavis turned around and smiled at Kakashi, her whole being seemingly sparkling. She concluded, "An eternal adventure, but always a place to return to. Fairy Tail is that kind of guild!"
As if Mavis's words had painted a picture of Fairy Tail, Kakashi couldn't help but reach out and press his headband covering his left eye, muttering, "Sounds really good... Fairy Tail."
