The spaceship passed through the spatial rift and slowly entered the Shadow Realm. "You've finally arrived." The phantom's voice was deep and mocking, as if it resonated directly in everyone's minds. "I've been waiting for a long time."
"A rift?" Ares gripped his rune sword, his gaze sharp as lightning. "What are you hiding here?"
The phantom chuckled softly. "Hidden? No, I haven't hidden anything. The Shadow Realm is a place beyond the reach of your rules, and I am merely its master."
"Bullshit!" Wagner roared, raising his battle axe as he charged at the phantom. "No matter who your master is, you're going to be smashed to pieces today!"
His battle axe, imbued with the power of thunder, slammed down, but the phantom casually extended a hand, easily blocking the attack. Then, with a backhand swing, Wagner's body was flung away like a rag doll, crashing heavily into the ground some distance away.
"Wagner!" Selena fired quickly, aiming her sniper rifle at the phantom's head and firing continuously, but all the bullets were swallowed by the darkness as they approached the phantom, unable to harm it in the slightest.

“Then we must destroy it.” Selena raised her sniper rifle, but quickly discovered that the core’s surface was covered with complex runes, making it far more defensive than any target they had encountered before.
Wagner stretched his shoulders and grinned. "Whatever it is, there's always a way to smash it."
The three engaged in a fierce battle around the Rift Core, but the core's defensive mechanisms were far more complex than they had anticipated. It not only possessed a powerful barrier but could also summon waves of Rift Guardians to disrupt their attacks.
