Chapter 264: The Beginning of the Cosmic Reshaping
Chapter 264: The Beginning of the Cosmic Reshaping
As the power of the crystal flowed into the guardians, their figures were enveloped in a powerful light. The light, like a flowing river of time, isolated them from the surrounding space. Their bodies became light, as if supported by some higher power, and deep within their consciousness, countless fragments of cosmic languages seemed to whisper softly.
"Is this the power to repair the rift?" Lysa felt the surging energy flow within her body. The power was so strong that it almost pushed her body to its limit, yet it also carried a strange warmth.
“This power is dangerous.” The Arbiter gripped his twin blades, his gaze sweeping over the changes around him. “It doesn’t simply belong to us; it’s part of the universe. It seems to be trying to redefine our existence.”
“We are not isolated individuals.” The observer’s voice came from the star map, deep and slow. “The power within you is the core essence of the crystal—a collection of fragments from all dimensions of the universe. Through it, you can repair the rifts, but the cost may far exceed your expectations.”
Kane stared intently at the core of the rift. "Will the price... be our annihilation?"
The crystal's voice echoed once more in the void: "Not disappearance, but fusion. You will become part of the laws of the universe, integrated into the repair of the rift. You will no longer be complete individuals, but your existence will be forever etched in the universe."
Upon hearing this, Lessa gripped his spear tightly, closed his eyes to contemplate for a moment, then opened them with a resolute gaze: "If this price can restore balance to the universe, we are willing to bear it."
“Leza!” A flicker of struggle crossed Kane’s face. “Do you understand what this means? We may no longer be ourselves!”
“But the universe will continue to exist.” Lysa turned to Kane, her voice calm and resolute. “We are the Guardians. From the beginning, our mission has not been for any individual, but for the future of all life.”
“Now that the choice has been made, there is no need to hesitate.” The Arbiter’s gaze was cold, and his twin blades slowly rose in the light. “Whether we disappear or not, as long as the universe can continue to exist, it is all worth it.”
After the guardians reached a consensus, the crystal's radiance suddenly intensified, and the entire core of the rift began to tremble violently. Within the space, runes of cosmic language converged around them, forming a massive energy vortex. The center of the vortex pointed directly to the deepest part of the rift; that void seemed to resist silently, yet it could not stop the restorative power from gradually seeping in.
"Energy has begun to flow!" The observer's voice carried a hint of surprise. "The core of the rift is being stabilized, and your power has resonated with the laws of the universe."
Lysa felt the connection between the spear and the crystal, her body seemingly merging with the surrounding universe. She could sense every flow of energy within the rift, and even perceive every fluctuation in the depths of the cosmos.
“The wounds of the universe are healing,” Lysa said softly, a hint of relief in her voice. “The expansion of the rifts is stopping, and the balance between dimensions is being restored.”
Kane and the Arbiter both felt the changes within their bodies. The energy of their dual blades and the crystal merged into one, radiating a dazzling light. With each swing, they severed the flow of energy within the fissures, guiding it towards the laws of the universe.
However, as the repair process progressed, their bodies gradually became ethereal, as if this power was withdrawing from their existence.
“Our existence is being reshaped.” The Arbiter’s voice was low, but without complaint. “This is the price we must pay.”
"Don't forget, all of this is for the future of the universe," Lessa replied firmly. Although her figure became ethereal, her spear still exuded an unshakeable power.
Just as the rift was gradually being repaired, a familiar voice came from the void—it was the Terminator. Its power suddenly appeared outside the core of the rift, carrying an undeniable sense of oppression.
"Your choices may bring about a new balance, but I must remind you that this is not the only way out for the universe." The Terminator's voice was deep and cold. "Your attempts at repair will inevitably create new cracks."
Kane looked up abruptly, his eyes flashing with anger. "A new rift? We've done everything we could to repair the rift, and you're questioning our efforts?"
"This is not a question, but a warning," the Terminator said slowly. "The universe is a cycle. No matter how you repair it, the existence of the rift is not accidental; it is an inevitable result of the universe's evolution. Your repairs only delay it, not end it."
Lysa gripped his spear tightly, staring directly at the Terminator. "If this is an inevitable cycle, we must buy time! Delaying it is the only thing we can do; we cannot stand idly by!"
"In that case, I will not stop you." The Terminator's voice was deep and cold. "But your actions will open a new chapter in the universe, a future I cannot predict. Be prepared to accept this unpredictable fate."
As the Terminator's power receded, the repair of the Rift Core neared completion. Space gradually returned to stability, the Rift's energy was absorbed by the crystal, and the light around the Fate Pivot became soft and warm.
As the rift closed completely, the Guardians' bodies almost entirely dissolved into nothingness. Their consciousness began to merge into the universe, becoming part of the laws. But at the very last moment, the crystal's voice rang out once more.
"Your determination has moved the very source of the universe. I will preserve your consciousness, but you will no longer be the original individuals, but rather the perpetrators of the laws of the universe."
Lessa smiled slightly and said softly, "Our purpose is to protect the universe. In whatever form, as long as we can watch the universe continue, that's enough."
Kane and the Arbiter exchanged a glance, their eyes revealing their final resolve. "Sacrificing for the universe is worthwhile."
As the final ray of light faded, the Guardians vanished completely, and the universe returned to its tranquility. The rift ceased expanding, the pivot of fate stabilized once more, and the balance between dimensions was restored. The star map shone even brighter, foreshadowing the coming of a new cosmic era.
After the rift closed, the universe was renewed. Dimensions that had been eroded by the rift gradually recovered, and life forms that had survived the crisis began to readjust to the new rules. Although the Guardians' existence had become part of the laws, their names and sacrifices are forever etched in the memory of the universe.
"Have they... really left?" A surviving dimensional guardian gazed at the starry sky and asked softly.
The observer's voice came from the star map, deep and calm: "They have not left. They have become part of the universe, forever guarding this starry sky."
