Inside the parking lot, sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows.
. . .
In the luxurious office of Shanshui Group, Zhao Xiaohui sat with a furrowed brow, the documents in her hands crumpled into a ball.
"Liu Xinjian, why are you still in China?" Zhao Xiaohui asked sharply, staring at Gao Xiaoqin.
Gao Xiaoqin gave a bitter smile, crossed her hands in front of her, and bowed slightly: "Sister Xiaohui, I have no choice. Liu Xinjian doesn't want to leave. I've tried to persuade him many times."
Zhao Xiaohui's eyes were cold, revealing a hint of murderous intent: "What time is it? You don't want to leave?"
"Sister Xiaohui, Liu Xinjian is, after all, a prominent figure in Handong Province. He has too many concerns," Gao Xiaoqin sighed helplessly.
"His sudden disappearance might arouse suspicion from the prosecutor's office."
Zhao Xiaohui snorted coldly and tapped her finger lightly on the table: "Can face feed you?"
“Xiaoqin, Liu Xinjian’s identity is special. If he is arrested, it will have far-reaching consequences.”
Gao Xiaoqin frowned and pondered for a moment: "Sister Xiaohui, perhaps we can try a different approach and make Liu Xinjian...disappear."
Zhao Xiaohui's eyes sharpened, and after a moment of silence, she asked, "Xiaoqin, do you want to kill him?"
Gao Xiaoqin nodded slightly, her tone firm: "Only in this way can we completely eliminate future troubles. Sister Xiaohui, Liu Xinjian knows too many secrets."
"Back then, Liu Xinjian (bjah) was the former Party Secretary's administrative secretary. Now he serves as the General Manager of Handong Provincial Oil and Gas Group."
Zhao Xiaohui tapped her right knuckles rhythmically on the desk: "Xiaoqin, you can go out now. I'll take care of things."
Gao Xiaoqin replied expressionlessly, "Yes, Sister Xiaohui."
After she left, Zhao Xiaohui made a mysterious phone call: "Crippled man, come to Handong now. I'll be waiting for you in Jingzhou."
This person is from her husband's family, and he's the one who keeps the black gloves. He's not a local from Handong, but from Lingnan.
"Crippled" was just his nickname; he was an orphan. He had been involved in the underworld since childhood and had even been to the Golden Triangle.
In other words, if you were to search for it, you wouldn't find anything.
. . . . . .
A day later, Liu Xinjian had just finished get off work and took the elevator to the first basement level of the underground parking lot.
Just as he was about to drive home, he suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind him. Liu Xinjian's heart tightened, and he turned around to see a burly man with a ferocious face rapidly approaching him.
Liu Xinjian turned pale with fright and turned to run away, but it was too late.
The burly man strode forward, grabbed him, covered Liu Xinjian's mouth with his large, veiny hand, and dragged him into a van.
Inside the car, Liu Xinjian struggled desperately and cried for help, but the man was extremely strong and covered his mouth tightly.
A short while later, everything went black before Liu Xinjian's eyes. A black hood was put on his head, and he completely lost consciousness.
When he woke up again, he found himself in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by darkness, with his hands and feet tightly bound.
Liu Xinjian knew in his heart that he was likely in grave danger this time.
He was filled with regret. If he had listened to Zhao Xiaohui's arrangement and left Handong for Los Angeles, he might not have ended up like this.
But it was too late to say anything now; Liu Xinjian could only silently wait for the kidnappers to appear.
"Mr. Liu, are you awake?" A hoarse voice reached my ears.
Liu Xinjian's voice trembled, his face filled with terror: "How much money do you want? Brother, please, please let me go!"
"You've offended too many people, Mr. Liu."
Before he could finish speaking, a sharp pain shot through him. A steel bar pierced through Liu Xinjian's left chest, going straight through his heart.
Liu Xinjian coughed up a mouthful of blood and his breathing became weak.
Liu Xinjian's eyes widened, filled with resentment and terror, before he slowly collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
After confirming that Liu Xinjian was dead, the man coldly pulled out the steel bar and threw it aside. Then, he lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, looked at Liu Xinjian's body, picked up a can of gasoline, and poured it over the corpse.
Light the lighter and throw it on the corpse.
Bang!
Liu Xinjian's body burst into flames.
He took out his phone and dialed a number: "Sister Hui, the mission is complete."
Zhao Xiaohui's voice was cold on the other end of the phone: "Very good, well done, cripple. You leave Handong immediately and go to Annam and northern Myanmar to lay low for a while."
“One million US dollars, in five installments, will be deposited into your overseas account.”
"Thank you, Sister Hui."
The man responded and hung up the phone. He walked to the van, opened the door, started the engine, and sped away.
Zhao Xiaohui sat in her office and breathed a sigh of relief upon learning of Liu Xinjian's death.
She knew that with Liu Xinjian's sudden disappearance, many leads had gone cold, making it difficult for the procuratorate to continue the investigation.
There was no other way; Liu Xinjian knew too many secrets. Only by completely dying could he keep them.
She picked up the teacup on the table, took a small sip, and a hint of smugness flashed in her eyes. She believed that as long as she was ruthless enough, there was nothing she couldn't accomplish.

As the sun sets, its afterglow filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows.
Inside the office building of the Jingzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.
Political Commissar Luo knocked on the door, holding a police report in his hand: "Director Lin, there's a situation..."
Lin Yunfei snapped out of his daze, put down his phone (he was playing Candy Crush), and asked, "What's going on?"
"Our municipal bureau received a case from the wife of Liu Xinjian, the general manager of Handong Oil and Gas Group," Political Commissar Luo said slowly, recounting the story in a deep voice.
Upon hearing the name, Lin Yunfei's face showed surprise: "Liu Xinjian?"
"He's missing?"
"We don't know yet, because a disappearance requires 48 hours. Our officers can't report it until they're certain," Political Commissar Luo said in a deep voice.
"Because Handong Oil and Gas Group is a state-owned enterprise. The general manager of the oil and gas group has an administrative rank of director-general."
"A department-level official has suddenly disappeared. We can't get through to him on the phone."
Lin Yunfei frowned, lost in thought.
Zhao Xiaohui is currently still in Jingzhou City, Handong Province.
He estimated that it was most likely Zhao Xiaohui who did it.
The struggle between two factions: Zhao Lichun and Zhong Zhengguo.
Let them fight however they want.
Lin Yunfei didn't want to get involved, nor could he intervene. His attitude represented the attitudes of both the Lin and Zhao families.
"Old Luo. Follow the procedure. The case will be filed in 48 hours." Lin Yunfei said seriously, extending his right index and middle fingers.
Political Commissar Luo hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, I understand."
Lin Yunfei said earnestly, "Old Luo, you need to understand. The situation in Jingzhou City is very complicated right now."
"What if this Liu Xinjian goes to his mistress's house?"
"What if Liu Xinjian goes to visit his illegitimate son?"
"No one can prove that Liu Xinjian is really missing. Even if we take a step back, Liu Xinjian is not a child."
Lin Yunfei spoke slowly, counting on his fingers with his right hand as he analyzed, "He's a man, so he couldn't have been abducted. That eliminates the suspicion of abduction."
"To put it bluntly, there are so many corrupt officials in Jingzhou City."
"The deputy secretary of the Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee was guilty of embezzlement and bribery, and committed serious violations of discipline and law."
"Ding Yizhen, the former Party Secretary of Guangming District, committed treason."
"Dong Guohua, the former executive deputy head of Guangming District, embezzled and accepted bribes totaling more than ten million yuan. He abused his position to help others secure engineering contracts and seek illicit gains."
"The former director of the Guangming District Land and Resources Bureau was also brought down for embezzlement and bribery."
Lin Yunfei made a startling statement: "We will hand over all these people to the procuratorate. The entire chain of evidence will be sent to the Handong Provincial Procuratorate."
Political Commissar Luo hesitated for a moment: "Director Lin, what you said is indeed true. But Liu Xinjian's situation is different; he is a department-level cadre, and his influence is much greater."
"Whether Liu Xinjian is a corrupt official or not, we don't know."
Lin Yunfei's expression was serious, his eyes sharp: "Therefore, we need to be even more cautious. Two days later, Liu Xinjian did not show up or come to work. We are opening a case."
"After all, missing persons cases require a full 48 hours; that's the procedure."
"We live in a society governed by the rule of law, and we act in accordance with the law. No one can find any fault with us."
Lin Yunfei slapped the table with his hand: "As long as we make a fundamental mistake, we will be invincible."
"Old Luo, remember, the rule of law is the bottom line." Lin Yunfei's gaze was firm. "No matter where Liu Xinjian is, we must follow the rules. If there is still no news after 48 hours, immediately open a case for investigation."
Political Commissar Luo nodded, his expression serious: "Understood, Yunfei. I'll go and give instructions to the subordinates right away."
. . . . .
Before leaving get off work, Lin Yunfei deliberately didn't leave. He opened his phone and checked the time and date.
November 6, 2017.
Lin Yunfei was startled; this wasn't part of the original storyline. The main storyline, the January 16th Incident.
After careful consideration, and just in case, Lin Yunfei dialed Sun Liancheng's number.
"Liancheng, I need your help."
Upon hearing this, Sun Liancheng immediately said, "Yunfei, just tell me what's wrong, and I'll do my best to help you."
Lin Yunfei's expression was serious: "I'm still worried about Dafeng Factory."
"Because Li Dakang gave a death order: the demolition must be completed on schedule."
"If an accident happens and someone dies... the consequences would be unimaginable."
