Chapter 3 Bloodstained Bats
Chapter 3 Bloodstained Bats
Jaeger Winchester aside, after some questioning, it turned out that this poor young man was just an unlucky guy who had just arrived in Gotham that day. He had come to Gotham University to visit his classmates, but unexpectedly ran into the case.
He literally stumbled into the scene by mistake; he didn't even see a single bat.
Moreover, as a newcomer to this place, Jaeger didn't even know who Batman was, let alone the Batman murder case.
So much so that the police, unable to bear it any longer, sent him away after only a few questions.
And Bruce Wayne? He's even more despicable.
This well-known Gotham playboy and tycoon claimed to have seen Batman leave the scene on a motorcycle, but knew nothing of any use and was clearly more interested in the motorcycle and driving skills.
He even grabbed the already busy police officers and, in his drunken ramblings but with great enthusiasm, promoted his charity car race.
Throughout the process, Bruce's blue eyes shone with a natural, clear naiveté, causing the officers in charge to experience a surge in blood pressure, though their anger was only momentarily brief.
...First of all, this is Bruce Wayne, and you can't expect him to say anything too clever, especially when he looks like he's still a bit tipsy.
Secondly, there's Bruce Wayne, one of the GCPD's most generous investors. The officers are able to eat their daily donuts thanks to this eccentric big shot, so he's definitely not someone you can afford to offend.
Besides, this big spender has already cooperated with the police investigation, so what more could you ask of him?
The police on the other side were furious with Bruce, while Jaeger was staring at the empty card table.
As a poor player who was thrown into the crime scene at the start of the game without knowing anything, Jaeger knew that the lies he had made up to get through the game were indeed not credible.
The only reason they were able to get away with it was because the police were currently overwhelmed with work, and Jaeger looked like a harmless young man, which made them temporarily focus their attention on more important matters.
But if the police actually find the time to investigate Jaeger Winchester, that would be another problem.
The "occult detective" doesn't seem like a legitimate identity at all. It's also a question why the protagonist is in Gotham and why he's at the crime scene at this particular time.
So before the police discover the problem, Jaeger intends to investigate the case himself... at least to find out the real reason Jaeger Winchester was there.
If he really just got randomly assigned to a crime scene at the start of the game, then he's just unlucky.
But if Jaeger's presence there has a special reason, then it's worth pondering... Damn, wait a minute, could it be that I'm not actually a passerby, but really connected to the case? Or is my identity actually related to that killer, Batman?
Just as Jaeger was lost in thought, a rustling sound, like the sound of cards being folded and flipped during a shuffle, flashed past his ear:
A brand new card immediately appeared on the void card table.
You have triggered a special event card.
[The Bloodstained Bat has been added to the poker table]
[Description: On February 21, a former criminal who had just been acquitted was found dead in his home, setting the stage for a series of murders.]
The 14 cases involved victims of varying identities and methods of death, yet all were marked with blood bat symbols at the scene.
Both the markings left at the scene and the surveillance video found by the police pointed the finger at Batman, who should have been a vigilante in the city, as the true culprit in this series of cases.
The dark knight has broken his vow of killing, and the wings of the bat are stained with blood.
But is that really the case?
Objective: To investigate the true culprit behind the Batman murders.
The case background described on the event card is basically consistent with the police's account, but the last sentence made Jaeger a little concerned.
...Indeed, all the evidence now points to Batman, but is that really the case?
How could the city's vigilante, whom others described as a dark knight, suddenly start killing people without warning?
But if Batman didn't suddenly change his personality, then who was the person impersonating Batman in the surveillance footage? What was the real purpose of this series of cases? Was it merely to frame Batman?
After much thought, I still couldn't come to any conclusions, since I had too little information to make any effective inferences.
Wait, speaking of information...
Jaeger's gaze suddenly shifted and landed on the two policemen who were chatting quietly to the side.
The policewoman in charge of interrogating Jaeger seemed to have said that these two were new police officers who had just joined the GCPD, didn't have much work to do, and were considered a hindrance by their seniors even though they wanted to help.
No work? That means these two must be free.
The fact that these two are new, young police officers suggests they are easier to get information out of than the other experienced officers present.
In conclusion, these are two people who know a lot of information about the case and have time to share it.
Conclusion: Information point!
Jaeger's eyes lit up, and he instantly had an idea.
With light steps, he walked straight toward the two new police officers.
With a kind smile on his face, he took the initiative to strike up a conversation: "Good evening. I heard you're new officers at the GCPD? I'm Jaeger Winchester, the one who wandered into the crime scene tonight. I have something I'd like to ask you both..."
