Chapter 20 Rumors and Gossip
Chapter 20 Rumors and Gossip
Before Boruto could even think things through, several kunai suddenly flew out from the shadows, shooting straight at him like arrows.
Boruto panicked and retreated repeatedly, dodging quickly to avoid being hit by the kunai.
"Who ambushed me!?" After dodging the attack, Boruto's eyes were fixed on the direction from which the kunai came, his muscles tense, ready to deal with any attack that might follow.
At the same time, Boruto quickly reached into his ninja tool pouch, grabbed several kunai, and threw them in that direction. The kunai drew sharp arcs in the air, heading straight for the enemy lurking in the shadows.
Sparks flew from the darkness, accompanied by the crisp sound of metal kunai clashing together.
The person hidden in the shadows precisely struck down Boruto's kunai one by one.
Boruto inwardly felt a sense of unease. The current situation was extremely unfavorable to him. His opponent's reaction speed was exceptionally fast, and his control and precision over kunai were superior to his own, which increased the pressure on him.
Worse still, the enemy is hiding in the shadows while you are exposed to their view, putting you on the defensive in the ensuing confrontation.
However, the other party did not seem to intend to continue hiding. The person slowly emerged from the shadows and ceased to conceal themselves.
He appeared directly in Boruto's line of sight, confronting him face to face.
Boruto looked at the two people in front of him, and his eyes involuntarily narrowed.
The newcomers were none other than Sasuke and Sakura.
Boruto stared at Sasuke and Sakura as they slowly emerged from the shadows, a sense of surprise welling up inside him.
He never expected that the two of them would be the ones attacking him tonight.
Boruto's gaze was fixed on Sasuke and Sakura in front of him. His voice carried a hint of displeasure as he directly questioned, "Sasuke, why did you suddenly attack me? I don't recall doing anything to offend you recently, have I?"
Boruto looked around and realized that Naruto had disappeared without a trace in the distance. He could no longer stay here and get entangled with Sasuke and Sakura.
"I'm not going to waste any more time with you guys. I'll settle the score with you later." With that, Boruto quickly turned around, preparing to leave.
Sasuke stood in front of Boruto and said in an unquestionable tone, "That's precisely why I have to stop you."
As soon as he finished speaking, he quickly pulled out several kunai from his waist, flicked his wrist, and the kunai flew towards Boruto.
After dodging Sasuke's attack, Boruto angrily berated Sasuke, "Are you crazy?"
"Did you approach us from the beginning with the intention of replacing Naruto? If so, I won't allow it!" Sasuke stared intently into Boruto's eyes and said in an unusually cold voice.
Sasuke paused for a moment, realizing that what he said might be wrong, and continued, "Although that loser is annoying, he is still a member of Team 7."
"Exactly! Naruto is so good to you, providing you with food and lodging, why would you frame him?" Sakura also found this very incomprehensible.
Boruto was completely bewildered by Sasuke and Sakura's accusations. He frowned in confusion and said, "What are you talking about? Why would I frame Naruto for no reason?"
"Stop playing dumb. Iruka-sensei saw you deliberately investigating Kurama and Naruto, as well as the rumors circulating in the village," Sakura said, pointing at Boruto with a hint of displeasure in her voice.
"Iruka-sensei? And those rumors in the village...?" Boruto frowned, looking completely bewildered by the rumors Sakura mentioned.
Seeing Boruto's genuine expression, seemingly oblivious to everything, Sasuke and Sakura exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with confusion.
......
After training, Sakura silently followed behind Sasuke, but her heart felt like it was pounding with excitement.
She cautiously approached Sasuke, and mustered her courage to suggest, "Sasuke, it's not too late yet, how about we go on a date together?"
However, Sasuke's answer was like a bucket of cold water poured over Sakura's head. He remained as indifferent as ever, not even turning his head, and simply said, "No time."
"How could this be..." Sakura's smile froze on her face instantly, like a wilted eggplant.
My mood was plunged into a localized downpour, and I lost all color in that moment.
Sakura's inner voice started complaining: Sasuke is such an idiot! He still speaks so coldly, completely disregarding the fragile feelings of a young girl!
She was initially excited about the date, thinking that being in the same class as Sasuke would be a new starting point for their relationship to quickly heat up.
However, Sasuke was always so indifferent, and his words always carried a sense of detachment. He didn't care at all about the feelings of those around him.
Sakura couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She had already taken such the initiative, so why was Sasuke still unmoved? Did he really not have any feelings for her?
Although Sakura felt a little frustrated, she did not give up and decided to try a different approach by inviting Sasuke to dinner.
Sakura secretly cheered herself up, believing that one day she would be able to win Sasuke's heart.
Just as she was about to speak, the two were drawn to the whispers coming from the side.
Villager A whispered to the person next to him, "Have you heard that the child next to that fox demon is named Namikaze Hiroto?"
Upon hearing what Villager A said, Villager B immediately nodded in agreement, his voice tinged with excitement: "I've heard, I've heard! He's the son of the Fourth Hokage and Lady Kushina, right?"
Villager A nodded, a look of recollection appearing on his face: "That's right! I remember that Kushina-sama encountered the Nine-Tails' attack during her pregnancy. I thought that the child had met with misfortune before birth and died at the hands of the Nine-Tails."
Villager B: "It's a real pity that the Fourth Hokage sacrificed himself at such a young age, but fortunately, his descendants are still alive in this world."
Villager C: "Then why is the Hero's Son with the Nine-Tailed Fox's incarnation? And it seems like they have a good relationship. You can always see them traveling together."
Villager A frowned, saying uncertainly, "This... I don't quite understand either..."
Villager B speculated, "Maybe it's because he doesn't know yet. If he knew that the fox demon was the murderer of his parents, he would definitely feel disgusted by the fox demon just like we do."
After hearing this, Villager C nodded in sudden understanding: "I see..."
Upon hearing the villagers' whispers, Sasuke frowned slightly, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.
However, he did not take these gossips to heart, because his years of experience had made him accustomed to the villagers' habit of spreading rumors, and he was even somewhat numb to it.
After all, during the Nine-Tails' rampage back then, some people groundlessly accused the Uchiha clan of using the Sharingan to control the Nine-Tails.
This led to the Nine-Tails' rampage, which in turn triggered this disaster, causing incalculable damage and loss to the entire Hidden Leaf Village.
They will prove everything one day and shut up those who have slandered their family.
