Chapter 59 Dr. Emlyn White
Chapter 59 Dr. Emlyn White
Raphael was initially reluctant to accompany Calvin Thomas to his appointment. Although he didn't care much about his reputation, he still felt awkward about accompanying someone to see a doctor for a sexually transmitted disease.
The key point is that he wasn't that close to Calvin, and he couldn't be bothered with Calvin's messy affairs.
However, Caven came to visit in a carriage and promised to talk to Raphael about the Aurora Society.
Raphael has been informed by Mr. C that because he helped Calvin resolve a problem, he will be introduced to the other members of the Aurora Society in Backlund tomorrow. He wants to learn more about the Aurora Society before agreeing to come along.
In a way, the Aurora Society's practice of introducing its members to each other is completely different from other secret societies. Other secret societies try to keep their members in one-way communication, even the notoriously mad "Rose School" does this.
However, the Aurora Club requires its senior and middle-level members to get to know each other.
While in the carriage, Raphael chatted with Calvin and learned that it wasn't that the Aurora Society was being overly arrogant or crazy; only members of the Aurora Society in Backlund were doing this.
Kaven didn't know exactly why this was happening.
Raphael didn't make wild guesses, but instead chatted with Calvin about other things.
Raphael only stopped talking after he had extracted all the information that Kaven had learned.
At that moment, Calvin received a patient, a young girl with somewhat alluring features.
The other person's facial features seemed not to have fully developed yet, but they were able to skillfully make some charming movements and expressions.
This reminded Raphael of the girl he had teamed up with to kill the "conspirator" Petrov. She looked to be only fifteen or sixteen years old, but she was already a Sequence 6 "Judge".
Tomorrow is the agreed-upon time for the two to divide the spoils, and Raphael hopes the other will bring good news.
At this moment, Calvin looked out the car window at the homeless and shook his head: "I really don't understand why the Loen authorities don't drive these filthy guys out of Backlund? They're just ruining the city's appearance by wandering the streets."
Raphael smiled and hummed in agreement, offering no further comment.
"Or let them make the most of what they have left," Calvin said, seemingly nonchalantly.
Raphael glanced at the other man; after their recent interactions, he had come to know this down-on-his-luck nobleman quite well.
This guy is a master of bluffing; all his apparent composure is just a bluff.
Moreover, he was both wicked and stupid. Raphael could tell at a glance that Calvin was about to reveal the real reason for inviting him to accompany him.
Raphael remained silent, but Calvin turned to Raphael and said, "I heard recently that someone is buying homeless people for 10 pounds each!"
"By the goddess above, how can these homeless people be worth so much!"
He stared intently into Raphael's eyes and said seriously, "How about we go out and do a big deal together? You take care of catching the man, and I'll find the buyer."
The girl next to him also understood Calvin's "big deal" and looked at him with some surprise.
Raphael retorted, "Friend, what do you take me for?"
Kavin was taken aback; Raphael's reaction was completely beyond his expectations.
Raphael continued, "I treated you like a friend, and you treated me like a human trafficker!"
"This..." Calvin frowned. "What's wrong with this? Many gang leaders also engage in human trafficking."
Raphael smiled and shook his head: "Can buying and selling people be called a crime? Gangs should act like gangs. They've turned themselves into a general store, doing all sorts of shady things. It's a complete insult to the gangster profession."
"And you, my friend, actually compared me to those fools! That's an insult to me!"
Calvin was getting a little embarrassed: "Raphael Collins! I am the son of Viscount Thomas. It is your honor to discuss cooperation with a commoner like you. Don't be ungrateful."
Raphael snorted coldly, a glint of icy light flashing in his eyes. But suddenly, a brilliant idea struck him, and his gaze softened considerably.
Calvin was startled by Raphael's gaze, and he stiffened his neck and snorted coldly: "Fine, don't cooperate then, there are plenty of people lining up to cooperate with me."
The carriage was quiet for a while before the two of them started chatting again, as if the unpleasantness from before had never happened.
As the journey continued, Raphael thought about it more and more and felt that his idea of sending the other person on their way was brilliant, and he couldn't help but smile.
Kaven thought Raphael was apologizing for the argument earlier, and sneered inwardly.
They soon arrived at River Bend Avenue, at Dr. White's house.
The driver knocked on the door, and a handsome man with black hair, red eyes, and his hair combed back to the side, who looked to be about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, opened the door.
He said with a somewhat arrogant tone, "Are you looking for my father to see a doctor? He just went out."
As he spoke, he glanced at Raphael, his expression somewhat unnatural, but he quickly regained his composure.
This was Emlyn White, a member of the Tarot Club, who had seen Raphael's portrait at the Tarot Club, which is why he seemed a little unnatural.
However, after he joined the Tarot Club, he underwent some trials and matured considerably, so his awkwardness was fleeting.
Raphael also gasped. Before he came, he suspected that Dr. White might be a "pharmacist", so he used the white jade bead to investigate. But he didn't expect that the person who claimed to be Dr. White's son was actually a Sequence 5!
Kaven, standing to the side, looked somewhat displeased: "When is he coming back?"
"I'm not sure either." Emlyn glanced at the black spots on Calvin's neck, then at the girl, showing a hint of sympathy before suddenly turning stern to Calvin: "Sir, I must give you a serious warning: you must immediately stop assaulting this girl, or I will call the police."
He immediately recognized that the richly dressed man was a syphilis patient and the girl was infected.
Calvin scoffed, "Sir, you're a doctor, not a judge!"
"Besides, she's already 13 years old. Do you think the police would care about something like this?"
Raphael remained a detached observer, as Calvin, having run a brothel, was well-versed in the relevant laws; currently, the age of sexual consent under the Ruhnn Constitution is 13.
This means that even if a 13-year-old girl is assaulted, as long as enough money is spent to bribe the victim and her parents, the victim will not file a lawsuit, and it will not fall under the jurisdiction of the public prosecutor's office. In other words, the rapist is not guilty.
Seeing that the girl showed no sign of resistance, Emlyn stopped interfering with the sordid affairs of these wealthy people.
But he couldn't help but say, "This girl's illness can be cured with just one dose of medicine."
Calvin clearly didn't believe him: "Sir, I think you're a lawyer, and your ability to boast is top-notch."
Emlyn was about to shoo them away when Raphael stepped forward and said, "Alright, then please prescribe some medicine for us."
He certainly wouldn't miss this opportunity to befriend a Sequence 5!
