"Thanks to you!"
To be able to do this much, what is his strength? Many people looked at the unconscious Kaido thoughtfully.
Chapter 90, They Survived After All
Kaido's escape incident passed by quietly, and in the days that followed, Yi Shuihan continued to stay by Punk's side, watching Punk carry out various inhumane experiments on Kaido.
Because of Yi Shuihan's presence, Kaido behaved much better and at least did not attempt to escape again.
"If this continues, when will I be able to leave this place?" After failing to kill Kaido again, Yi Shuihan had the idea of simply sending Kaido to his death himself.
"But even if I wanted to do it, Punk wouldn't agree! He seems to be enjoying it and has gotten a lot of inspiration from Kaido."
Of course, these numerous experiments were not without results. Punk managed to extract a number of useful things from Kaido's blood, and even conducted genetic experiments, creating a bunch of monsters. Of course, compared to Kaido, these monsters were just small fry.
Not only does it lack rationality, but it is also far inferior in strength. The most important thing is that although its recovery ability is amazing, it consumes its own life force.
Of course, it still has its uses, and it is said to have been of great help in several secret operations.
"Hey, I'm telling you, that's enough, isn't it?"
"what?"
"There are clearly ways to kill him, so why haven't you done it yet?"
"Did you find out? I thought you would have asked earlier, I didn't expect you to be so patient."
It really was true. Yi Shuihan felt a little helpless after getting the exact answer. He was speechless at Punk's reckless behavior. If it weren't for him suppressing him, Kaido would probably have killed Punk long ago.
"If I don't ask, you'll just keep going like this." Yi Shuihan's expression was somewhat displeased.
Punk stopped working, wiped his hands with a handkerchief, and looked directly at Yi Shuihan, saying, "No, it'll be soon. Give me a few more days, and you'll be back."
"What do you mean?"
"In a few days, Kaido's threat will no longer exist."
He won't exist? That means he might not die, but he will no longer pose a threat to the Navy.
What exactly will happen?
"They actually kept it from me, how unpleasant." At Marine Headquarters, Yi Shuihan was no longer serving as Punk's bodyguard. Yi Shuihan, who had originally wanted to see how Punk would eliminate Kaido, this threat, had been kicked out the day before.
You read that right, he was suddenly kicked out, which clearly means someone doesn't want him to know certain things.
Especially a few days later, when Yi Shuihan received news that Kaido had reappeared in the New World, he became even more dissatisfied.
"Why did Kaido escape without any reason?" Yi Shuihan looked at Sengoku, waiting for his answer.
A hint of guilt flashed in Sengoku's eyes, and he sighed, "This is a decision made by the higher-ups, and it seems that Dr. Punk has some method of controlling him."
"For the sake of balance? Don't they know just how brutal Kaido is? Letting him go will hurt so many people." His tone was low, as if he had suffered some major blow. Of course, this was just an act; otherwise, his behavior would be too illogical.
Upon hearing this, Zhan Guo nodded silently.
"The World Government wants to see a relatively stable world, even if it's just on the surface. Kaido's departure has made the New World too chaotic, even though this chaos is clearly beneficial for wiping out all the pirates in the future."
"Is that so? I understand!" Yi Shuihan didn't condemn the World Government like a typical chuunibyou protagonist, but turned and left. In fact, he didn't care much about it.
Watching Yi Shuihan's dejected figure, Zhan Guoyan raised his hand, then lowered it again. "I hope he doesn't stay depressed forever. That damned World Government, such a good opportunity."
Although Kaido can be said to be in control, the actual control does not lie with the Navy, but with the World Government. Kaido doesn't even need the Navy anymore.
Therefore, the world of One Piece has returned to the original story, with the Four Emperors and the Navy at odds, and the formation of the Seven Warlords of the Sea seems imminent.
"A candidate for general! Is this compensation?"
When he received the news, Yi Shuihan was not excited at all. On the contrary, he felt that the Navy was being a bit stingy. With his achievements, it was not impossible for him to become an admiral. He was only promoted to admiral candidate now, which was obviously due to the obstruction of some people in the World Government because he was too young and was being envied.
"Well, let's just put this score on the World Government. Sengoku has his own difficulties too!"
After becoming a candidate for general, Yi Shuihan was once again sent to investigate the Temple of Myriad Realms, which meant he was free again and could travel all over the world at will.
And then Yi Shuihan really went off on a wild ride, happily playing with Robin all over the New World, completely ignoring the mission. He originally planned to figure out a way to deal with it when asked, but Sengoku always chatted with him calmly and didn't seem anxious at all.
Since the Warring States period didn't care about the progress, Yi Shuihan naturally didn't even need to think of a solution and continued to live a carefree life.
Yi Shuihan had some guesses about Sengoku's attitude. It was simply because of what happened with Kaido that he felt guilty towards Yi Shuihan, so he was very lenient towards him. Of course, Yi Shuihan's strength was also a very important influencing factor.
Furthermore, the world is not always smooth sailing. Yi Shuihan killed many powerful pirates, demonstrating the strength of an admiral. He has a great influence in the world and is regarded as an extremely loyal naval dog. In the eyes of pirates, he is just an admiral who has not been officially awarded the rank of admiral.
Because of his intervention, he saved many innocent people and earned the navy a great deal of reputation.
Thus, although Yi Shuihan was a candidate for admiral, he almost never returned to the Navy Headquarters after that, and instead wandered around outside, living a very comfortable life.
Three years later, Yi Shuihan finally arrived at the East Sea.
"After a period of silence, it's time for me to stir up the world."
Windmill Village
"So, uncle, what do you want from me?" Luffy asked curiously, looking at the man who had suddenly appeared before him in a very casual manner.
"I'm asking you, do you want to become the Pirate King?"
"Of course, I'm determined to become the Pirate King."
Chapter 91, Getting to Know Your Dad and His Grandfather
Looking at Luffy's expression that said "I'll definitely be the Pirate King," Yi Shuihan's lips twitched.
He's definitely a deep-seated chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) sufferer. But that's not quite right either; if his chuunibyou might eventually come true, then it wouldn't be considered chuunibyou anymore.
It's common knowledge in Sakurajima that boys and girls save the world, and the same applies to the protagonist's chuunibyou (middle school syndrome).
It seems like you can feel the strong World Power emanating from Luffy?
Well, this is just Yi Shuihan's wild imagination.
"So, do you know how to become the Pirate King?"
Luffy seemed very excited about the question Yi Shuihan asked, since no one around him had ever talked to him about this topic before, and they even took his desire to become the Pirate King as a joke.
"As long as we find One Piece, that's all that matters!" Luffy's eyes seemed to gleam with gold when he mentioned One Piece.
If that were really the case, that would be great. There are more than just one or two pirates who have the ability to find One Piece, so why can't they become the Pirate King?
If you want to wear the crown, you must bear its weight. The burden that a true Pirate King has to carry is not simple. Luffy's understanding of the Pirate King is completely different from the real Pirate King.
The Pirate King, as the embodiment of pirate faith, stands in opposition to the World Government and the Navy. They absolutely do not allow him to appear, as his appearance would result in unimaginable attacks.
It's only because Luffy is a second-generation heir with a powerful background that he's been able to survive; otherwise, he would have been killed long ago.
Perhaps in Luffy's eyes, the so-called Pirate King is simply about successfully finding treasure, without anything else. It's just a child's simple idea. He hasn't even thought about what he would do after becoming the Pirate King.
Should we make someone like that the Pirate King, then reform him, turn him into a role model, and change the worldview of pirates? That's probably what Shanks is thinking!
I wonder if that red-haired guy's strength has decreased after losing his arm.
"Hey, hey, uncle, say something!"
Oh, they've gone far away.
Refocusing his attention on Luffy, Yi Shuihan revealed a smile that Luffy would never understand.
"It seems you really have the potential to become the Pirate King! However, becoming the Pirate King is no easy feat. With your current strength, it's still a stretch. Would you like to increase your chances of becoming the Pirate King?"
"Really? You also think I'm suitable to be the Pirate King! Great, from now on you're my friend." Luffy grinned foolishly, seemingly only understanding Yi Shuihan's first sentence.
So you've become friends? What a cheap friend you are!
I really liked Yi Shuihan when watching the anime, but when I actually encountered him, there was always a sense of incongruity.
"Becoming the Pirate King isn't something you can just talk about. What else do you need?" Yi Shuihan said again.
"What is it?" Luffy asked, bewildered.
"First, you need to have a certain level of strength. The sea is terrifying, and you will often encounter indescribable dangers. If you are weak, you will die unexpectedly on the way to find One Piece. Only by being strong can you easily deal with all kinds of accidents and eventually become the Pirate King."
Luffy nodded, agreeing with Yi Shuihan's point about needing to be strong. "That's right, if I'm strong enough, I won't have to be afraid of Grandpa's iron fist."
Is this all you're interested in? That's very Luffy-esque logic!
"Do you know how to become stronger?" This reaction was still within the normal range.
But I didn't show you anything, and you easily believed me. Are you just thick-skinned, or are you really a chosen one with strong intuition?
I had prepared a whole bunch of things to say to fool them, but I didn't expect it to be so easy...
"Luffy, Luffy!" Just then, a freckled boy ran over.
"Hey! Ace, I'm here." Luffy waved his little hand and showed a bright smile.
"Bang!" Ace punched Luffy on the head as soon as he arrived in front of him.
"It hurts...it hurts...it hurts! Why did you hit me, Ace?" Luffy clutched his head, his expression falling.
Ace glanced at Yi Shuihan, his eyes showing wariness. He naturally treated this stranger who had suddenly appeared with the same attitude one would show a stranger.
"It's lunchtime, and you're still standing here. Hurry up and leave!"
"Food! Is there meat? I want meat! Meat!" Luffy shouted excitedly, eager to eat right away.
"Then let's hurry up and leave." Ace said, grabbing Luffy's hand and trying to leave.
Luffy wasn't completely brainless, though; he remembered Yi Shuihan's existence and didn't just walk away.
"Uncle, would you like to go eat together? The meat is delicious."
"Then let's go together."
Normally, most people would politely decline such an invitation, but Yi Shuihan was unsure whether Luffy would understand the true meaning behind it if he actually said it, and it wouldn't be good if he just left without saying anything. So he simply accepted.
Luffy didn't react to this unconventional move and was even quite pleased, but Ace looked at Yi Shuihan with a very dissatisfied gaze, his eyes filled with suspicion.
"Don't invite strangers to dinner. Besides, your portion isn't even enough," Ace said irritably. Luffy is a big glutton, and usually, several portions aren't enough for him.
"Hehe," Luffy seemed to realize something was wrong, and chuckled, "It's okay, I'll just eat less this time."
"Hey, who are you? What's your purpose? If you dare to have any designs on my brother, I won't forgive you." Ace made what he thought was a fierce expression, but it had no real intimidation power, after all, he was still just a child.
"I don't look like a bad guy, but don't let my appearance fool you. I'm one of your elders. I know your dad and his grandfather!"
"Grandpa! Do you know Grandpa?" Luffy asked with surprise, clearly regarding Yi Shuihan as one of his own.
"My dad? You know absolutely nothing! How could someone like you know my dad!" Ace reacted strongly, but unlike Luffy, he was filled with anger, thinking that Yi Shuihan was lying. After all, how could someone he just met know his dad? Although he didn't want to admit it, anyone who knew his dad was at least someone of a certain level, and he obviously didn't believe that Yi Shuihan was someone of that level.
Chapter 92, Was there an iron block under the clothes?
Am I being underestimated? I wonder how he would react if I told him right now that I was the real murderer who killed his father.
No, since he knows who his father is, he can naturally know his information as well, after all, he was the one who did the dirty work back then.
Is it Garp? He deliberately kept my information from me.
It's best not to reveal your true identity; you always have to be careful.
"Then what would it take for you to believe me?" Yi Shuihan's calm demeanor surprised Ace, as it didn't seem like the reaction of someone who had lied.
Could he be telling the truth? Impossible. He doesn't look much older than me. How could a child like me know my father?
"Hmph, I'll expose you." Ace pondered for a moment and said, "To know Luffy's grandfather and my father, you must be very strong. Can you let me see for myself?"
"Let's not do it! It's completely unnecessary." Yi Shuihan said hesitantly. He really had no interest in it, but if it really needed to, he wouldn't mind showing off a little.
Feeling guilty, Ace's eyes lit up, and he was secretly delighted. He said with a smile, "Eh? Were you lying to me before?"
"Is it a lie? I thought he really knew Grandpa!" Luffy also looked doubtful when he heard Ace say that.
He's so easily influenced. On big issues, like becoming the Pirate King, nothing anyone says will affect him. But on small things, it's like he has a negative IQ; he believes anything you say without thinking.
With that kind of intelligence, without a reliable crew, you really wouldn't be able to go anywhere!
"You really want to see it for yourself?" Yi Shuihan pretended to be a little angry.
A bluff? Absolutely! Ace had already formed a preconceived notion; otherwise, he would have definitely noticed something was amiss. Yi Shuihan's gaze remained unchanged from beginning to end, that mocking look in his eyes.
"You have to see for yourself, otherwise you're just lying."
"But how should I demonstrate this? You don't expect me to break rocks with my bare chest, or plunge oil into a pot without getting hurt, or breathe fire!" Yi Shuihan said, making gestures that looked somewhat comical.
"Wow! That's amazing! He said he can breathe fire!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly, his eyes filled with admiration as he looked at Yi Shuihan, like a die-hard fan.
Unlike Luffy, Ace became increasingly convinced that Yi Shuihan was a fraud.
Is this all you've got? You're not even as good as me! Let me teach you a lesson.
"Fight me! If you can defeat me, I'll admit that what you said is true." Ace said, cracking his knuckles, eager to try.
