Chapter 137 Contradictions
Chapter 137 Contradictions
The shareholders' meeting was scheduled for 3 p.m., and Wei Hongsi used the time before then to meet with the five technical personnel recommended by Department 1 and Department 3.
Although these people showed surprise upon seeing Wei Hongsi, it was quite mild, and they asked relatively restrained questions, which was quite different from the situation in the morning.
Wei Hongsi estimated that this was because their recommenders had communicated with them and informed them of certain details in advance.
Xu Xinwan and Xue Ying hold mid-level executive positions, meaning they have closer ties with frontline technical staff and don't issue direct instructions like Director Yu. Furthermore, being women, their communication is more nuanced and thorough.
Therefore, this round of interviews ended earlier than expected, giving Wei Hongsi time to monitor the diagnostic results of the individuals commissioned by the police.
At this point, the first two batches of 70 people had completed their diagnoses, and 61 of them had been infected with "mental contamination" to varying degrees, accounting for more than 87%, which shows the high infection rate of "psychological viruses" created for individuals.
Based on this ratio, the total number of infections could exceed 120. While this would put considerable pressure on subsequent treatment efforts, it would be highly beneficial for the prevention and research of "psychological viruses."
When it was almost time, Wei Hongsi left his office and went to the 22nd floor to prepare for the meeting.
The meeting was held in conference room 2210, where Wei Hongsi first met the company's senior executives up close.
As he entered the conference room, he couldn't help but recall the scene of Li Yunxiang losing control that day, only to find that the layout of the room was different from that day.
The conference tables were arranged in a "冂" shape, with one end facing a large screen that almost occupied the entire wall. Below the screen was a wooden lectern base about three meters wide and 20 centimeters high, with a dark blue carpet covering the surface; in one corner of the base was a smart lectern table.
Place cards bearing the names of shareholders were placed on the conference table. Seating for observers was arranged behind the row of conference tables directly opposite the large screen.
At this moment, only Qian Jiayu and Lin Fangzhe were in the meeting room.
Wei Hongsi walked along the wall and greeted the two men. Seeing that there were place cards on the row of tables, and that his seat was at the very end, he sat down there.
Not long after, Ji Yongsheng, Gu Shiming, and Jiang Kai arrived one after another and took their seats in the same row. They chatted for a few minutes about things unrelated to work, and seemed quite relaxed.
As the meeting time approached, footsteps and conversations could be heard outside, occasionally punctuated by soft laughter. After a moment, a group of shareholders, led by Dai Songquan, entered the meeting room. Executives, including Ji Yongsheng, stood up and greeted them with smiles, showing their respect for the shareholders.
Wei Hongsi naturally stood up as well. A shareholder, seeing him, said in surprise, "Our company has such a young executive?"
Dai Songquan said, "His name is Wei Hongsi. He is attending the meeting today to report on key projects."
The shareholder said "Oh," and then smiled and praised, "Young and promising! It's clear that General Manager Dai is a good leader."
Several shareholders smiled and echoed, while glancing at Wei Hongsi a couple more times.
Wei Hongsi smiled in response, secretly noting down the astonished shareholder's name. His attendance at the meeting was written in the agenda; this was a classic case of feigned ignorance.
The shareholders found their seats according to their name cards. Those who were familiar with executives such as Ji Yongsheng came over to exchange pleasantries, creating a very harmonious atmosphere.
Wu Wenjun instructed the staff to pour water and tea for everyone, and to serve fruit platters. Soon everyone was seated, the staff left, Wu Wenjun closed the meeting room door, walked to the audience seating area, and sat down next to Wei Hongsi.
Dai Songquan, as the company's chairman and president, as well as its founder and largest shareholder, was the host of this meeting.
He turned on the gooseneck microphone on the table, announced the start of the meeting, and immediately moved on to the first item on the agenda.
Qian Jiayu took to the podium. His task was to read out the explanation of the legality of the meeting's convening procedure, verify the shareholders' attendance, confirm the proportion of valid voting rights, introduce the attendees, and announce the meeting rules and voting methods, etc.
These contents are basically just going through the motions, yet they are indispensable.
Zhiwei Technology has a total of 18 shareholders. Except for Xia Yuansheng, who was absent due to illness, the other 17 were all present.
There should have been seven non-shareholder executives present, including Vice President Ji Yongsheng and the general managers of the six centers. Meng Haolin has been criminally detained by the police, and his position is temporarily vacant.
In addition, there was Wei Hongsi, who was preparing to give a report. When Qian Jiayu mentioned him, several other shareholders glanced at him.
After Qian Jiayu returned to his seat, Dai Songquan announced the start of the second agenda item, in which Lin Fangzhe, General Manager of the Financial Settlement Center, would give a briefing on the company's operations in the first half of the year.
Just as Lin Fangzhe stood up, someone raised their hand and said, "President Dai, please wait a moment, I have a question."
The speaker was named Tai Liqun, over fifty years old, and was the shareholder who had just "mistakenly thought" Wei Hongsi to be an executive.
Dai Songquan said, "Please speak, Mr. Tai."
Tai Liqun stared at Wei Hongsi and said, "This agenda involves highly sensitive matters such as the company's revenue and financial budget for the first half of the year. This young man is only the project leader, and the project itself has not yet been finalized. I don't think he should have access to this information."
After he finished speaking, he glanced around the room and asked, "Do you all agree with what I said?"
Several shareholders immediately nodded in agreement, and two others voiced their support.
Dai Songquan nodded slightly and said into the microphone, "Mr. Qian, is it compliant for Wei Hongsi to be present as an observer?"
Qian Jiayu stood up and said, "Wei Hongsi is the designated attendee for this shareholders' meeting. He is responsible for reporting on the key projects in the third agenda item. His attendance throughout the meeting is to ensure the continuity of the agenda and the consistency of information, in accordance with the company's rules of procedure."
Although he didn't have a microphone in front of him, his voice was clear and powerful, reaching the ears of everyone present.
Dai Songquan gestured behind him, indicating for Qian Jiayu to sit down, then spoke into the microphone, "Mr. Tai, what do you think?"
Tai Liqun glanced at Wei Hongsi again, then remained silent, as did those who had echoed his sentiments.
In fact, everyone present knew perfectly well what was going on. That young man was clearly a confidant that Dai Songquan was planning to promote. If Dai Songquan wanted to show him the company's financial statements, he could do so at any time outside of the shareholders' meeting. What use would their objections here be?
Wei Hongsi was well aware of this. That Mr. Tai didn't really want to prevent him from listening to the second agenda item; he just wanted to put some pressure on him in this way.
If he is under too much pressure, it will inevitably affect his subsequent reports, at which point the opposition will have an opportunity to make a fuss about it.
So should we show some pressure and feint?
After a moment's thought, Wei Hongsi decided to give up. He had no acting experience, and everyone present was a seasoned veteran; such affectation would be easily seen through.
