Chapter 31 Spider-Man's Complete Upgrade
Chapter 31 Spider-Man's Complete Upgrade
Chapter 31 Spider-Man's Complete Upgrade
The engines of the Kun fighter jet roared over the Pacific Ocean, and the rear hatch slowly opened, letting in a whistling wind. The gold and red armored suit fell in like a meteor, and Iron Man landed steadily. His visor popped open with a "whoosh," revealing Tony Stark's perpetually mocking face.
"Does anyone miss me?"
Seeing everyone's disheveled hair and innocent eyes caused by the sudden airflow from the door opening, Tony knew what the answer was. He simply smiled and told Jarvis to close the door properly.
"That kid got busy after you left, Tony." Janet didn't look up, her fingers swiping rapidly on her tablet, monitoring the real-time status of Avengers Tower. "I've never seen anyone so addicted to the 'superhero business'."
Tony glanced at his teammates. Ant-Man, Hank, was still studying the data from the smuggled vibranium samples. Bruce Banner, wearing noise-canceling headphones, was probably listening to some kind of yoga music to calm him down; even Captain America in the driver's seat was unusually distracted, his blue eyes fixed on the empty sky outside the porthole, as if some answer was hidden there.
As for Thor, oh, he should still be in Asgard.
"Isn't that great?" Tony shrugged, plopped down next to Steve, and glanced at the flight data with feigned interest. "I arranged it this way because I didn't want the building to be idle—what do you think, Captain?"
“That kid’s fine guarding New York. I’m thinking about something else.” Steve looked away, paused, and continued, “Perhaps we could invite King T’Challa to join the Avengers. I know his grandfather; we fought side-by-side on the battlefield. I know every Black Panther has been a top-tier warrior.”
After finishing his statement, the captain said something that seemed contradictory: "But we cannot interfere in Wakanda's internal affairs. We are not the US government... The biggest problem for this operation may not be the enemy, but politics."
Tony smirked, revealing that "I can do anything" grin: "Politics? I've dealt with more politicians than I've studied the suits of armor. Trust me, Captain, it's just the king of an African country, I can handle it."
—A few hours later, the Avengers' Kun fighter jet was hit by a vibranium weapon and crash-landed deep in the Wakanda jungle, billowing black smoke. It looks like they won't be able to get back for at least a month.
Peter, of course, had no idea that the Avengers would be offline in New York for several days. No sooner had Tony left than he got busy. He tossed his backpack onto the table, stuffed his old uniform inside, and dashed into the lab to prepare for researching the new suit. He even dug out his old, worn-out camera, casually tossing it to Jarvis to have the trouble of developing the photos.
"Alright, let's get to work!" Peter rubbed his hands together, his eyes fixed on the rotating model of the old uniform in the holographic projection. His mind raced, giving orders as many as possible: "Jarvis, keep an eye on things in New York. Let me know immediately if anything happens. Also, pull up the surveillance footage from the Osborne Tech Show on March 12th—can you do that?"
Mr. Stark has archived the relevant data.
"Alright." Peter wasn't surprised at all, swiping his finger across the virtual screen. "Also, list everything Herman stole. I want to see exactly what he took."
A detailed list of thefts lay on the table. Peter studied the design of the old uniforms as he asked, "What material were the Captain and the others' suits made of?"
Stark Industries' latest high-tensile composite fiber material has the following main structure...
"Then use the same model, but enlarge the spacing of the spider webs in the red part by 1.2 times..." He said as he pulled off the eye mask from the projector, tossed it aside, and redesigned a pair of more rounded white eyepieces to replace the original slender black ones. Although it was his first time operating this system, he picked it up incredibly quickly.
"It looks friendlier this way, don't you think, Jarvis?"
To convey a positive mood, it is recommended to use brighter colors.
"Good idea."
A few minutes later, a completely revamped Spider-Man emerged from the high-rise restroom. The new suit featured a brighter red and blue color scheme, and the 3D-printed composite fabric perfectly hugged his body. Spiderweb-like wings were added under his armpits for gliding, and white goggles could change size to reflect his facial expressions, thus conveying his emotions.
The spider logo on the chest has shrunk, and the pattern on the back has changed from a menacing spider to a cute circular design. Upon closer inspection, you'll find that it's actually a clever storage device; the suit can automatically fold and shrink into a palm-sized spider disc, making it easy to carry.
Concealed pockets on both sides of the waist replace the original, conspicuous belt. A spider-shaped light is hidden in the center of the waist, designed for dark environments such as sewers. Of course, the coolest feature is the tactical display built into the goggles, capable of connecting to the Avengers' satellites for real-time communication and analysis.
In short, it looks like a classic battle suit, but it has some high-tech gadgets added. Moreover, to avoid any unexpected situations, Peter made two suits.
"Okay, I'm uploading my keyword search program. Unbelievably, I've memorized the entire code." Peter typed on the projected virtual keyboard. "Jarvis, can we access the Avengers and the NYPD's collaborative network? You should have the necessary permissions, right?"
[Hacks into the New York City Police Department's emergency and fire services systems have been completed.]
"Hacked?!" Peter was taken aback, not expecting the Avengers to have bypassed the proper channels. But he couldn't worry about that now; getting the system was the priority. He figured the NYPD wouldn't mind... right?
"Oh, uh, integrate my program, then match it with dispatch information from all police stations and fire stations, and conduct a comprehensive analysis of the situation."
The goggles immediately project real-time emergency information—where a crime has occurred, whether the police or fire department can arrive in time, whether the criminals are armed and Spider-Man's intervention is necessary—everything is clear at a glance. This system allows him to avoid the trivial matters that the police can handle themselves and focus his energy on things that require Spider-Man's intervention more.
Next, he pulled up the Osborn Tech Show surveillance footage that Stark somehow obtained, and created a holographic model using footage from different angles. This investigative method appeared in Iron Man 3, and Peter was now using it to recreate the scene where he was bitten. He filled his glass with water from the water dispenser and stood to the side watching everything being recreated in the model.
The holographic projection recreated the scene: he and Gwen were walking and chatting among the exhibits when suddenly, the glass case containing the mutated spider shattered without warning, and the crowd instantly descended into chaos. The image zoomed in, showing Cal King bending down to pick up the spider, silently approaching, and pressing the deadly creature against the back of Peter's neck.
What caused the display case to break?
No relevant record found in the Osborne database.
"No record?"
Peter continued watching, instinctively swatting away the mutated spider that had bitten him. In the corner of the monitor, a blurry figure suddenly crouched down—but the footage seemed to have been altered, and Peter couldn't make out the person's face.
"Could you retrieve that person's information, the one who was squatting down?"
[Data has been encrypted. Warning: This data has been modified externally.]
Someone modified the information? S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra? Hmm, it might be the same group. Realizing it was pointless, Peter temporarily shelved the matter and turned to the list of high-tech products Herman had stolen: exoskeleton spinal cord connectors, extreme environment survival devices, light particle projectors…
He pulled out the holographic projection of the light particle projector from the list.
"A fish tank?"
The light particle projection device, developed by Horizon Labs, functions by manipulating the reflection of light particles to generate virtual images.
"They only stole half-finished products; someone must be responsible for perfecting them—Jarvis, investigate the researchers in the field of light particles?"
The person he was looking for was not there.
"Or perhaps a special effects artist with relevant research experience?"
Jarvis seemed to pause for half a second, clearly not expecting this unconventional line of thought, but he quickly retrieved the files that matched the criteria:
Quentin Baker, one of Hollywood’s most creative special effects artists, has been missing for a month.
Got you.
Mystery Guest.
