Chapter 21 Potions Class
Chapter 21 Potions Class
Over the next few days, Vaughn's life at Hogwarts got back on track.
Attending classes every day, answering professors' questions, and receiving feedback from them satisfies my thirst for knowledge.
On the first day of school, during Charms class, he earned high praise from Professor Flitwick for his superb Levitation Charm. This Charms expert, who was suspected of having elven blood, also examined Vaughn's notes.
But he did not invite Vaughn to join his Curse Club.
"Your magic is still developing, Mr. Vaughn Weasley. Young wizards your age need to practice basic spells more in depth, rather than pursuing too advanced research."
Professor Flitwick said to Vaughn in a high-pitched voice, "But I promise you, when you're in your third year, I'll invite you to join, as long as you have the time. After all, the Transformers Club will probably take up a lot of your time."
To show his appreciation for Vaughn's spellcasting skills, he added 20 points to Slytherin's score that day.
This pleased Vaughn greatly.
He didn't want to miss any opportunity to gain extra points, because the system activated a new task after the main storyline ①!
[Main Quest 2: Help Slytherin win the House Cup at the end of this school year]
[Reward: 1 Talent Point, 50 Scale Magic]
It may not seem difficult, but anyone who knows the future knows it's practically hellish...
The greatest white wizard of our time is preparing to train his savior, and for this he is even willing to shamelessly add points.
Although this is the only time in the next few years, it happens to conflict with the system's mission.
Vaughn hadn't come up with a good solution yet, but he didn't want to give up easily; he would just keep trying.
Two days passed, and after a boring history of magic class—Professor Binns' hypnotic skills amazed Vaughn, who fell asleep halfway through, he still earned a 5-point commendation from Professor Binns.
Although the other person called him by the wrong name.
I also experienced an ordinary astronomy class. It is said that the reason why astronomy is a compulsory course is because it is the foundation of divination.
Out of respect for his divination talent "2", Vaughn shamelessly copied the astronomical knowledge he had learned in his previous life, which amazed Professor Sinister. She was just very curious as to why Vaughn was so concerned about whether the solar system had eight or nine planets.
Professor Sprout's herbalism class was also very interesting.
Of course, she didn't let the first-year students do any hands-on work in the first class. She just took them to the Hogwarts greenhouse and gave them a brief introduction to the various magical plants grown there.
But more than the plants, the students were curious about the greenhouse—it was enchanted with a seamless extension spell, dividing it into areas such as forests, wetlands, plateaus, and deserts according to the different living environments of various plants.
It felt like entering a dream world.
In this class, Vaughn scored 20 points each with Hermione, relying on rote memorization of textbook knowledge, but Neville of Gryffindor unexpectedly had a passion for herbalism.
He actually earned 10 points... Fortunately, that same night, Gryffindor lost 20 points because Fred and George played pranks in the hallway.
Thank goodness!
We should also thank Professor Quirrell, who was wearing a large scarf around his head and was disliked by everyone because of the unpleasant smell of garlic. His teaching skills were also problematic; he just read from the book.
When Seamus Finegan of Gryffindor pressed him for details about defeating the resurrected zombies, he even began to ramble incoherently.
Professor Quirrell was very grateful when Vaughn came to his rescue and gave Slytherin an extra 10 points.
Then, a little while later, as if he had lost his memory, he added another 10 points to Slytherin's score.
(Note: This book adopts a curriculum arrangement that combines the film version and the original novel.)
Ron and Harry bet: "...he must have had his brains sucked dry by a vampire!"
But Vaughn knew why.
The later 10 points were probably at the behest of Professor Quirrell by the Socket Man. Speaking of which, Voldemort really loved Hogwarts and Slytherin deeply.
At the height of his career, his greatest wish was to become a professor at Hogwarts. When he failed to get the job, he simply cursed the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
What I can't have, no one else can have!
True love!
Time flies, and it's Friday. Today is the last class of the first week of school: Potions!
Harry and Ron were sighing and groaning early in the morning.
"I think Professor Snape doesn't like me. I mean, the way he looked at me at the opening banquet...it was terrifying!"
"Don't be silly, Harry. I think he sees everyone as if they owe him 500 Galleons. I heard he's especially biased towards Slytherins. Hmph, Vaughn must be ecstatic!"
Ron couldn't help but glance at Ravenclaw's long table, his expression sour.
That's right, Vaughn is sitting with Ravenclaw today.
Before the first week of school was even over, the freshmen discovered the biggest oddball among them: Vaughn Weasley!
On his first day, when he sat at the Gryffindor table, everyone assumed he was Weasley and that's why he went to Gryffindor.
But the next day everyone realized they had been too naive.
He actually went to Hufflepuff again, and got along quite well with those silly little badgers. It's said that he even took a stroll around the Hufflepuff common room that night.
This "rumor" came from Ron, who told him that the Hufflepuff common room was next to the Hogwarts kitchen.
And just like that, before a week was even over, Vaughn Weasley, that terrible boy, had already visited every house!
Now, every morning when students come to the auditorium for breakfast, they first look around their college's long table to see where that red-haired guy is today.
This strange new habit quickly spread to all grades, becoming almost a spectacle.
The most baffling thing is...
No matter which college Vaughn goes to, there will always be at least one person he can have a lively conversation with.
Slytherin has Malfoy (who doesn't really want to), Hufflepuff has Cedric, and Gryffindor has even more.
Hearing Penelope's silvery laughter coming from across the Ravenclaw table, Ron curled his lip.
"Hmph, he's always loved playing with little girls since he was a kid, and he hasn't changed at all."
As he spoke, he saw Hermione suddenly lose her temper, slamming the book shut: "Then why didn't you, as his younger brother, try to persuade him? All you do is spout nonsense here!"
Ron was baffled: "Are you crazy? What does this have to do with me?"
Hermione, however, seemed to have taken a jab. She abruptly changed the subject, her thin lips spitting out a torrent of words: "What else can you two do besides gossip and complain behind people's backs? If you're worried about Professor Snape's favoritism, why don't you do more pre-class preparation? Classes have been going on for a week already..."
After a fluent and engaging speech, the girl left with her book in her arms.
Ron, still reeling from the verbal abuse, snapped, "She's insane! It's not like I let Vaughn flirt with other girls, so why is she yelling at me? Just wait and see, she'll be chatting and laughing with Vaughn again in class later, you stupid little girl!"
As expected, Vaughn was right. In Potions class, he sat down with Hermione again and easily made her smile with just a few words.
But Ron and Harry, who had guessed the result correctly, couldn't be happy at all.
Because their other guess also came true—
"Ah, Harry Potter!"
In the dark basement, Professor Snape, half-hidden in shadow, stared intently at Harry with his dark eyes, his expression somber and cold.
