Chapter 5 Underachieving Students in Preschool Education
Chapter 5 Underachieving Students in Preschool Education
At Professor Sprout's strong suggestion, Irving did not have breakfast in Professor Flitwick's office, but returned to the Great Hall.
Then, in front of all the professors, he flew close to the ground for a while, and then truthfully explained the technique and why he had studied it.
For a moment, the professors' expressions turned strange.
Simply output magic power, then use the reaction force to lift yourself up...
Such behavior would be considered utterly brain-dead in the wizarding world, because no wizard would complain about having too much magic.
But this suddenly made perfect sense when it came to Owen, because they could see that Owen's magic was improving every day. If this continued, what they were most worried about was not anything else, but what Owen would be like during the second magic outburst!
If it were to explode, Hogwarts would probably be flattened, right?
The ability to rationally consume magic power to achieve a certain balance is probably unique in the world.
"What have you all taught this child?!"
Professor McGonagall suddenly erupted, startling everyone, and then she reached out and hugged Owen tightly: "He's still a child!"
Professor Sprout tilted his head: "I was just teaching him how to handle various herbs."
Snape calmly replied, "He's learning from me how to handle medicinal herbs."
Only Professor Flitwick touched his nose guiltily: "I'm teaching him the technique of wandless spellcasting."
……
The auditorium fell silent instantly; even the sound of the wind ceased.
Even Dumbledore, who had been smiling with his eyes half-closed, opened his eyes wide. He couldn't believe what he had just heard.
Owen was quite embarrassed because he had not yet fully mastered the technique of wandless spellcasting. So far, he could only use this technique to cast two spells.
It's like in preschool education, where they teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, but he has only learned addition and subtraction, not multiplication and division yet. That's why it hasn't been released yet, because... sorry.
It's that feeling of a struggling student being embarrassed to show their abilities to their parents...
"The fireflies are twinkling."
Under the strange gazes of the professors, Owen flicked his wrist, and a ball of light the size of a soccer ball appeared above his fingertip. But that wasn't all; he then pulled his hand upwards and said, "Yugadimur Leviosa."
The ball of light took flight and, following his will, swirled and turned in the air, making the auditorium, which was not very bright due to the overcast weather outside, much brighter.
One Light Charm, one Levitation Charm. What surprised the professors most was not his staffless spellcasting, but his ability to control the Light Charm with the Levitation Charm. This... was no longer simple staffless spellcasting, but multi-casting.
After her initial surprise, Professor McGonagall looked at Professor Flitwick with a serious expression. In her view, how could such a dangerous spellcasting technique be taught to a young wizard who didn't even have a wand?
Professor Flitwick was overjoyed; the young wizard's genius far exceeded his expectations!
Because of this exhibition, Irving had to adjust his schedule once again. Starting today, he has one more place to go.
Flying close to the ground finally came in very handy. His morning run was shortened from 5 a.m. to 4 a.m. After that, apart from eating, sleeping, studying and reading, Irving's feet never touched the ground. Flying at full speed at low altitude saved a lot of time.
This intense study continued until the start of the new school year. When the students returned to school, Irving's study time suddenly became much more relaxed because he now needed to study alongside the first-year students.
Because he was too young, Owen wasn't a normal student. He didn't have a wand, nor was he sorted into a house. The older wizards found this strange, but the first-year students found it fascinating. They noticed that Owen seemed very familiar with the castle, but none of them knew which house he belonged to.
Owen did not participate in the Sorting Ceremony. Although he was wearing a magic robe, it was different from the standard robes of the four houses. It was a black magic robe embroidered with golden magic runes. This was a gift that Professor McGonagall had specially taken him to Diagon Alley to buy before the start of the semester.
The thoughtful Professor McGonagall didn't want the young wizard to feel too different from others, but little did she know that doing so would only make the young wizard stand out even more.
Fortunately, Owen didn't care about any of that. Magic is something you only realize how little you know and how much you still need to learn the more you study.
He ignored everything else and focused solely on reading the magic book.
But people don't seek out trouble, yet trouble finds people. The Slytherin students all have a certain arrogance because the vast majority of them come from pure-blood families.
At first, they didn't know Owen and thought he might be a relative of some professor, but when they heard from somewhere that Owen was just a Mudblood from a Muggle family, the way they looked at him changed.
But Owen never interacted with them, and sometimes he seemed very busy, which led some people to speculate that Owen was not there to study, but rather to work at Hogwarts like the house-elves, because some people had seen Owen helping the Squib janitor Filch with cleaning.
They're on the same level as house-elves...
As this perception spread throughout Slytherin, more and more Slytherins naturally found Owen incredibly irritating, especially the first-year Slytherins, who felt that having Owen in class with them was an insult to them!
It has been proven that people are most focused and resilient when they are preparing to do something bad.
They spent a week figuring out Owen's daily routine, even though they couldn't find out where he lived. It all started when a first-year wizard, who had eaten something that upset his stomach, went out to use the restroom and saw Owen jogging in the morning.
That's how Owen's habit of waking up at four in the morning and jogging around the castle became known to outsiders.
Four o'clock in the morning...
Just a short time was enough to almost make half of the little snakes give up. Is this some kind of madness? Getting up to run in the middle of the night??
But among the little snakes, there were some ruthless ones. One of them actually got up at four o'clock and secretly followed Owen around. But what he discovered next made his legs go weak.
Because Irving's morning run time has become shorter and shorter, he hasn't changed his morning exercise schedule; he just uses half for running and the other half for boxing.
He would finish his run at 4:30, then go to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, choose a sturdy tree, and practice boxing there.
