Chapter 37 Dumbledore: Owen, I'm so disappointed.
Irving didn't want to come; he could have used that time to read a book.
He also knew that Professor Snape, whom Harry and the others were so determined to stop, was currently hiding in his secret room, brewing Felix Felicis for a savior who was determined to capture him and imprison him in Azkaban.
It's ironic just thinking about it!
As the wizard chess game progressed, the old wizard nodded with satisfaction, especially when he saw Ron willing to sacrifice himself to protect his companions and continue the journey; he even wiped away a tear.
"Friendship, no matter how many times I see it, it always moves me... Kyrie, what do you say?"
To be honest, Ron's actions did change Irving's opinion of him somewhat, but not by much. In Irving's view, there was actually a better way to play this game, but there was no need to say it, because the next adventure was about to begin.
There were only three of them this time. If they left Hermione behind and helped Ron back, Hermione wouldn't agree. So the two of them had to work together to help the unconscious Ron continue forward.
"Ah, what a pure friendship."
Owen couldn't take it anymore. He raised his hand and conjured a row of stretchers in front of Harry and the others, then cast a levitation charm on them.
"Having studied at magic school for almost a year, yet having absolutely no wizarding mindset, Headmaster, if it were me, Gryffindor would be penalized."
The old wizard's smile froze for a moment, and then he suddenly reached out and grabbed the young wizard's face: "Owen, I've actually had a wish for many years, but it hasn't come true yet. That is... to be able to personally educate the younger generation like a father or grandfather. Could you please grant this wish of a hundred-year-old wizard?"
Irving's eyes practically flew to the sky: "Ah! What a magnificent, pure friendship! So touching!"
The tone of voice when reading aloud...
The old wizard was so angry he laughed. He gave the young wizard a light tap, then continued walking, and then he saw...
"No, I don't agree to put Ron up there. What if it's a trap?"
Harry is stubborn, and Ron is willing to sacrifice himself, but he can no longer put his friend in danger.
"Harry, do you think we can still guard the Philosopher's Stone with Ron like this?"
Hermione was still somewhat clear-headed, and she naturally recognized that it was a transfiguration spell. However, Harry was right, so she took out her wand, turned a piece of wood into a stretcher, placed Ron on it, and used the Levitation Charm to lighten the weight. After doing all this, they continued on their way.
Owen was practically dying of laughter: "Headmaster, I really want to ask these three, how little do they respect the title of 'professor'? They haven't even learned many spells, and their Defense Against the Dark Arts class was a complete mess over the course of the semester. Tell me, where does their confidence come from?"
The old wizard didn't say anything, but simply reached out and pulled Owen to his side. He then wrapped his left hand around the young wizard's neck and covered his mouth, physically sealing him.
There's really no way to force a compliment here...
"Owen, I see changes in Slytherin, but I don't see any changes in the other three houses. That's not right of you."
Owen couldn't speak at all, his mouth was covered by the old man, so he could only follow the old man and watch them pass through one level after another, but in the end, only Harry made it to the final level.
As Hermione dragged Ron out, she looked up and saw someone she never expected: "Owen, what are you doing here?"
"Why can't I come?"
Irving raised his hand and the stretcher floated up on its own. Then he pressed his wrist down, and a stream of water poured down from the sky, hitting Ron's face directly.
He had clearly seen that the kid wasn't injured at all; he had just fainted from fright.
Sure enough, Ron shivered and woke up after being doused with water. He was still in a daze when he saw Owen: "Owen? You came here to help Snape steal the Philosopher's Stone?"
Hermione's lips twitched, but Owen raised his hand and slapped him hard across the face. After hitting him, he stared into his eyes and said, "Are you awake now? If not, I'll keep hitting you."
"I'm... I'm awake..."
Ron had never been hit like this before; he was completely dazed. But when he saw Irving's hand raised high, he finally snapped out of it.
"First of all, Professor Snape didn't care about the Philosopher's Stone at all. He was a Potions Master, and the Philosopher's Stone was an alchemical artifact. He was determined to concoct an elixir of immortality without the Philosopher's Stone."
"And..." Owen held up a second finger: "In that Quidditch match, it wasn't Professor Snape who was casting a curse on Harry; he was casting a counter-curse to save Harry. When Hermione set his robe on fire, making him stand up, she blocked someone's view and interrupted the casting of the curse."
"Finally, Professor Snape, whom you all suspect, is currently preparing Felix Felicis for Harry, while you have been doubting him, even falsely accusing him of trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone, and even including me in your suspicions..."
Ron's face turned pale!
"So... the one who really wants to steal the Philosopher's Stone is..."
Owen sighed deeply: "Ron, your two brothers have something called the Marauder's Map. From it, you can see the names of people active in the castle. If you're not too arrogant, you can get the map from them and see a name that keeps overlapping with Professor Quirrell's."
Ron struggled to jump off the stretcher: "Harry, Harry's in danger!"
"Don't worry, Dumbledore is inside too. Alright, you can all go out now."
"Irving, did you know all this? Then why didn't you tell us?"
The little witch understood everything, but she was somewhat unhappy, feeling that Owen's actions were not how friends should behave.
"Did you consult me when you were taking action and making plans?"
From the very first sentence, Ron and Hermione were immediately overwhelmed...
"When you asked me for help, did I tell you the truth? But did you believe me?"
Their momentum waned further, and they didn't even dare to lift their heads...
"Did you notify me when you were carrying out this operation? Did you even check if Professor Snape was in his office?"
Ron felt that he deserved the slap, that he hadn't been slapped for nothing.
Hermione, on the other hand, felt that she was the one who was truly not a good friend, because when she was with Harry and Ron, she really didn't think about bringing Owen along.
"Go back and rest. I'll give you three days. I need to see your action reports, starting from the very beginning. Tell Harry the same thing. Come to my lounge when you've finished writing them."
Watching the two leave dejectedly, Owen laughed. He seemed to have... found a way to change Gryffindor.
The difference between courage and recklessness is not much; it's just a matter of having a plan. From now on, he wants the little lions to get into the habit of making a plan before taking any action, and even if there isn't enough time at the time, they should make up for it afterward.
Flaws are things you can't change if you can't see them, but when they're right in front of you, even the most foolish or impulsive person won't repeat them.
