Chapter 86 The Gap Between Wizards
Chapter 86 The Gap Between Wizards
The group decided to go back to the Leaky Cauldron for a drink, and Siren went along, but he was distracted the whole way.
"Hey, Celen, what are you thinking about?"
Xilun felt his arm being pulled hard and woke up with a start, only then realizing that they had arrived at the Leaky Cauldron.
But he kept walking forward out of habit; otherwise, if Fred had grabbed his arm, he might have bumped into the door in front of him.
"Thank you," Siren said.
"You're welcome." Fred looked at Siron and asked curiously, "But what were you thinking about just now? You didn't even acknowledge us when we were talking to you."
"Thinking about something else," Celen said, glancing at Ginny who was stealing glances at Harry. After a moment's hesitation, he went over and asked.
"Excuse me, Ginny, did you see a black-covered diary at Flourish and Blotts before?"
"Child, have you lost your diary?" Mr. Weasley, who was walking ahead, turned around and asked, "Did you drop it at Flourish and Blotts? Let's go back and help you look for it."
"No, I don't know," Siren said dismissively, while staring at Ginny.
The little witch frowned and thought hard for a while, then shook her head and said, "I didn't see it, but if it says your diary, I'd be happy to help you look for it."
Her expression was very serious; she probably wasn't lying.
"Ah, no need," Xilun shook his head and said, "It's just an empty notebook, it doesn't matter if I lose it."
"If you don't mind, we can give you a new one." A man in a suit walked over; it was Hermione's father.
Although Mr. Granger knew nothing about the wizarding world or so-called wizarding families, he could tell that the child had just spoken up for them.
Both out of courtesy and reason, they should express their gratitude.
A diary is a good topic, but I wonder if this little wizard will use their diary... Muggle? I think that's the correct term.
"Ah, thank you." Xilun didn't pay attention to what he said and nodded again perfunctorily.
"Sorry, I might have something else to take care of, so I'll head back now."
Hearn waved his hand and, without waiting for anyone to say anything, turned and returned to Diagon Alley.
He didn't go anywhere else, but returned to Flourish and Blotts.
The chaos had just subsided, and the shop assistants were preparing to restore the messy scene to its original state.
Xilun joined in under the guise of helping, while carefully observing every corner of the ground.
Even after all the books were returned to the shelf, he still couldn't find the diary.
He checked the bookshelves, the countertops, even the crevices repeatedly, but there was nothing there.
How is that possible?
Xiren stood in the middle of the street, his brow furrowed; things seemed to have taken him somewhat unexpectedly.
He deliberately targeted Lucius Malfoy, not only because he disliked his pureblood supremacist attitude, but also for another purpose... to provoke Lucius and make him hand over the diary directly.
He even picked out a book to carry with him.
However, Lucius seemed a bit intimidated after hearing his own name called and didn't do it.
Perhaps he was worried about revealing that Malfoy was once a Muggle.
Xilun then realized that he probably shouldn't have introduced himself.
In the 11th century, Armand Malfoy, a young wizard from an ordinary family, disguised himself as a common knight and followed William I across the sea. He then used his wizarding abilities to suppress a Muggle uprising, thus gaining privileges and eventually leading to the Malfoy family in the wizarding world.
Isn't that interesting...?
Malfoys were once wizards from Muggle families. Their current status, wealth, and honors originally came from a Muggle monarch's bestowal.
However, because it happened so long ago, almost no one in the magical world knows about this... but Ollivander is obviously not among them.
Lucius was well aware of this as well. Even if he were to reveal this information at Sirius's age, people might not believe him, and it would be difficult to shake Malfoy's current position.
But the cautious Lucius didn't want to take any risks, so he chose to back down.
"Oh, I should have just said my name was Celen Weasley." Celen scratched his head.
Lucius was furious at the time, and might have shoved the diary at him the moment he heard the Weasley name.
As long as he can get the diary, he doesn't care if Draco exposes his identity.
As a result of Lucius's cowardice, not only did his plan fall through, but the diary that was supposed to be given to Ginny also disappeared without a trace.
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, a reluctant Siron went to Knockturn Alley again, but old Bokin still had no idea about the diary.
He only said that Lucius had sold him some dark magic items, and even generously produced a list... Siren looked at it three times, and there were indeed no names related to the diary on it.
After this long journey, it was already evening when Siron returned to the wand shop.
The dim, yellowish sky mirrored Xilun's somber mood.
It's unclear whether the diary was picked up by someone in the chaos, or if Malfoy simply didn't bring it with him in the first place.
Xilun struggled with this decision for several days.
During this period, he didn't even feel like promoting stickers. Every morning, he would push his work onto his grandfather and run to Flourish and Blotts.
After several days, the owner of Flourish and Blotts felt quite embarrassed. She had always thought that Celen was helping to organize the bookshelves every day because she felt guilty about the fight that day.
But the boss didn't think that the matter had anything to do with Sirius. He had only said a few words and hadn't done anything. The real culprit was Lucius Malfoy, who had suddenly gone mad.
As a result, Celen came to help every day, but Malfoy couldn't even see him, and didn't even receive an apology letter.
No wonder the Ollivanders are the oldest wizarding family in the magical world. Their refinement and demeanor alone are unmatched by those guys who constantly talk about the supremacy of purebloods.
So every time Xilun came to help, she would give him something as a reward.
Since it's a bookstore, the freebies are naturally books.
*A Modern History of Magic*, *Practical Spells Explained*, and the *Standard Spells* series (Parts 3, 4, and 5).
These are all relatively popular books, among which "Standard Spells" is a textbook used at Hogwarts, corresponding to the third, fourth, and fifth years. Giving it away now is equivalent to indirectly saving Siron the cost of three books.
However, just as she was preparing to deliver "Standard Spells VI", Siron did not show up that day.
He stopped looking. With Harry around, he wasn't worried about encountering Voldemort's soul again, so why bother with a diary?
With that time, Xiren felt he would rather do something else, like figuring out how to deal with the dried-up shapeshifting lizard he'd gotten from the Death Eaters.
