Chapter 581 Unexpected Companion

Chapter 581 Unexpected Companion

After sleeping for two days in the base, Han Zu used the equipment in the base to re-check various data of his body. They were very stable. When he did not perform high-intensity actions and only maintained the most basic life activities, his physical energy was almost not consumed. His ability to convert energy seemed to have become more intelligent. Even if he did not need to control it himself, the energy conversion would be automatically adjusted according to Han Zu's current situation.

After getting up, Han Zu took a cold shower to refresh himself, then walked out of the base gate, stood under a tree at the gate for a while, and began to think about the previous conversation with γ4.

According to γ4, while he could conserve and utilize vast amounts of energy, he currently lacked the ability to generate such power. To further enhance his power, Han Zu must first find a way to generate such immense amounts of energy. Even now, Han Zu's energy conversion abilities made it virtually impossible for him to run out of energy. However, he was wary of the worst. During his battle against γ4's new unit, while he had destroyed it and thus emerged victorious, he himself had been depleted of energy. The reason γ4 hadn't pressed their advantage was that they were currently allies. Han Zu firmly believed that within the vastness of the universe, there must be beings or entities with power equal to, or even greater than, γ4, who wouldn't wait for the right moment to strike back and leave him a chance.

Even though γ4 said that his mecha was able to fight Han Zu so well because it was constantly receiving energy from the giant energy core and could not leave the base, given the contractors' technological level, they must have combat units that were more powerful and did not require external power. γ4 was right; he was indeed not strong enough for them.

He took a moment to glance at the Infinite City forum. Even though three months had passed and Adenauer's performance in Johor Bahru had lost some of its popularity, it was still easy to find. The hype hadn't completely faded, so Han Zu wouldn't return to Infinite City for the time being. He still had some time. Since that was the case, he could do something else, like finding a way to generate massive amounts of energy.

However, according to Han Zu's experience, while his own strength increase wasn't entirely dependent on absorbing objects or creatures with Death Path energy, significant enhancements still relied on this. If he wanted to improve his energy generation, the best option was to find more objects with Death Path energy. However, these objects weren't easy to find. Han Zu had even searched for them many times in dungeons created in Infinite City. But Han Zu wasn't planning to return to Infinite City. Even if he did, the effects of absorbing the energy from each Death Path object he found wouldn't be guaranteed, and there were still uncertainties.

Improving one's own strength is still a matter of urgency. After so many events, Han Zu gradually realized that impulsiveness is not a wise decision.

But Han Zu wouldn't sit idly by; after all, he had other matters to attend to. The situation in Xinshan City seemed to be connected to the now-reformed Infinite Company. If that was the case, then their research might also be connected to the Ferdinand family. And based on what he had seen, the scientist who created the synthetic human also seemed to have a connection to these things. Although she seemed much younger than in the photos he had seen before, her appearance hadn't changed. It was likely her, or even if not, perhaps a clone. It was time for Han Zu to visit the somewhat crazed scientist; perhaps he could extract some information from her.

However, the biggest problem now was that Han Zu couldn't find the other party's specific location. Although Han Zu had used the contractor's equipment to locate the scientist's location when he was in Johor Bahru, after three months of training, the original contractor's equipment had an irreparable malfunction, and the upgraded contractor's equipment he was wearing was unable to preserve the data from that time.

The situation in which he had located the scientists might have been discovered by them, and they had used some special method to block the detection of the contractor's equipment. Even the upgraded contractor's equipment could not locate their position.

It wasn't entirely without clues. Through his own research, Han Zu had found a place where they once lived, a castle somewhere in Europe. The last sighting of them was years ago. While it was highly likely they had long since left, it was at least a clue he could investigate. Han Zu planned to go over and take a look. At his current speed, it wouldn't take more than two minutes to reach the castle from here.

After thinking it over, Han Zu decided to go eat something. He was not hungry, but after all, he hadn't eaten proper food for three months. For him, eating was not a necessity, but it was also a hobby.

"Unstable spatial energy fluctuations detected."

"Ok?"

Just as Han Zu was about to leave the island and return to U City to find a restaurant, the contractor's equipment suddenly detected a strange spatial energy fluctuation. This energy fluctuation was unfamiliar, and Han Zu didn't think he had seen it before. Even if he had, he wouldn't have had a deep impression of it. It wasn't the contractor's technology, nor was it something from the Infinite City. As for the rat extermination company, to Han Zu's current level, they were no longer considered a serious concern. Moreover, Han Zu had more contact with them in the early days. If it was them, they would have detected some kind of altar-like portal, not a simple, unstable energy anchor.

The main problem now is that, apart from the contractors and Gloria, no one else should know that he is here. There should even be people on this isolated island. The sudden fluctuation of space energy obviously means that someone is being teleported to the island. Someone coming at this time naturally made Han Zu alert immediately.

Suddenly, the unstable spatial energy fluctuations vanished. According to the contractor's equipment, Han Zu's passive energy conversion ability absorbed the energy used to stabilize the spatial rift, disrupting the opponent's transmission. However, soon after, the contractor's equipment detected the same spatial energy fluctuations again. This time, Han Zu actively stopped the energy conversion and absorbed these energies, instead outputting some energy to strengthen it.

"Om~"

After a barely perceptible fluctuation in space, a figure appeared where the energy had previously fluctuated. However, Han Zu sensed the moment it appeared. The energy within the figure had depleted, and the exhaustion from this depletion caused it to instantly lose consciousness, causing it to fall face-first to the ground. Han Zu reached out and caught the figure, then lifted his head. It was indeed someone he knew, though he had only met them a few times and wasn't particularly familiar with them.

"Christina?"

"Testing in progress... Completed."

"The subject is energy depleted, has no other injuries, is in good condition, and requires energy replenishment."

"Analysis of required energy amount... Completed."

Christina's identity is something of a mystery. Back in Q City, she served as a key aide to the then-chairman of Infinite Company, responsible for many covert operations and sent by the chairman to assist him. Later, it was revealed that Christina was also the second-most powerful member of the Ferdinand family, at least superficially, with access to many of the family's secrets. Initially, their interactions were limited, and Han Zu didn't fully grasp Christina's true potential. He simply expressed his interest in future collaboration, but soon after, Han Zu became embroiled in the affairs of the contractors and the Tigres. After a brief hiatus, he encountered the dramatic changes taking place at Infinite Company. If it weren't for Christina's sudden appearance today, he would have almost forgotten about her.

Han Zu remained wary of Christina's sudden appearance. He used the contractor's equipment to check if she was carrying any communication or positioning devices. However, contrary to his expectations, she had nothing. This meant she wasn't trying to gather information about him, but finding him was no small feat; she must have something to say. However, any clarification of these doubts would require waiting for Christina to wake up.

Han Zu carried Christina into the secret base and replenished her with some energy so that her body would not continue to deteriorate due to energy depletion. Then he left the island and went to U City to buy some food and drinks. Then he returned to the base, searching for information about Christina while waiting for her to wake up.

When Han Zu first came into contact with Christina, or her other identity, he had not yet come into contact with the contractor, so he could not find any information related to her by relying solely on conventional means. Logically speaking, with the help of the contractor's equipment, he should be able to thoroughly investigate Christina's identity, but when Han Zu actually used the contractor's equipment to conduct an intelligence search, a strange situation occurred.

There are hundreds of pieces of information related to Christina.

Each piece of intelligence contained incredibly detailed information, from name, age, date of birth, and place of birth to details like where the individual had been and what they had done. Every detail was even labeled with precise measurements. Furthermore, each of these hundreds of pieces of intelligence contained different information. However, there was one consistent point: the photograph of Christina. Han Zu determined that the identical photos in these pieces of intelligence weren't taken recently, but rather during Christina's teenage years. While the overall appearance differed significantly from the current Christina, the contractor's equipment confirmed that the person in the photo was indeed her.

What intrigued Han Zu even more was that, according to the contractor's equipment, using the photo of Christina, the location where she had taken the photo wasn't some mansion or ancient castle, as befitted her Ferdinand family's status, but rather a laboratory. The clothing she was wearing wasn't the typical aristocratic attire in the photo, but something else entirely. However, the clothing had been altered and manipulated dozens of times, making it impossible to recover it. Therefore, even the contractor's equipment couldn't recover it without sufficient data to reveal the truth.

Although there were hundreds of pieces of intelligence that contained a lot of information, the computing speed of the contractor's equipment only took an extra minute or two. In less than five minutes, all the intelligence was analyzed by the contractor's equipment. Based on the above description, all the recording devices nearby at the places and events that occurred were searched. Finally, a definite conclusion was reached, that is, among these hundreds of pieces of intelligence, except for the photo of Kristana, not even a punctuation mark was credible, and all of them were false news.

Since conventional methods had yielded no results, Han Zu decided to investigate from other perspectives. Using the contractor's equipment, Han Zu performed a complete medical scan of Christina's body, analyzing her genes and blood for any clues. While he still found nothing, he did discover a small secret.

"Ok?"

According to the blood and gene comparison, unless the entire Ferdinand family has undergone genetic programming and transformation, otherwise, according to the comparison results, Christina is actually not a descendant of the Ferdinand family, not even a collateral branch.

For the higher-ups of the Ferdinand family, genetic modification for safety wasn't a problem. Given Christina's current position as the second-in-command of the Ferdinand family, she should have undergone genetic modification. If so, it would explain why her genes differed from those of the other Ferdinands. However, this wasn't the case. Genetic modification, of course, was a technological feat, making it vulnerable to the contractor's equipment and impossible to conceal. However, the contractor's equipment's detection results clearly indicated that Christina had not undergone any form of genetic modification. Even Christina's powerful ability to teleport freely wasn't derived from genetic modification or anything like that. It wasn't the same as Infinity's method of creating superhumans. That ability was innate to Christina. Of course, it was also possible that she had undergone some kind of biological modification since infancy.

Based on the current clues, Christina is not of the Ferdinand family, so the latter seems more likely.
