Chapter 11 The Sealed Underworld
Chapter 11 The Sealed Underworld
In the distant woods, two figures were silently watching Lin Yu leave.
One of them was a burly man with white hair and beard, wearing a white robe embroidered with gold patterns that fluttered even without wind. He was none other than Qian Daoliu, the Grand Elder of the Spirit Hall.
The other person was even taller and more robust, with bulging muscles. He wore a golden robe embroidered with the image of the Golden Crocodile King and exuded an aura of unparalleled dominance. He was the Second Elder, Golden Crocodile Douluo.
"Brother, it's just a kid. Is it worth you making this trip yourself?" Jin E said in a gruff voice. He was impatient and felt it was unnecessary to waste time on such a little guy.
"Although that aura was strange, its soul power fluctuations were very weak; at most, it was a mutated martial soul."
Qian Daoliu did not turn around; his deep eyes remained fixed on the direction where Lin Yu had disappeared.
"Second brother, didn't you feel it?" His voice was calm, yet carried an undeniable solemnity. "That's not the aura of this world. It's cold, deathly still... yet it contains the power of laws. This has already exceeded the scope of a normal martial soul."
"Laws?" Jin'e paused for a moment, then retorted gruffly, "Brother, you overestimate him! I think he's just a mutated ghost martial spirit, all flash and no substance. That woman, Bibi Dong, just likes to pull these weird and strange things to attract attention!"
Qian Daoliu slowly shook his head, his sacred aura fluctuating slightly.
"No, this is not the same."
He raised his hand, and a wisp of pure golden light flowed from his fingertips.
"Just now, I could feel my six-winged angel... was afraid. Although it was only a fleeting tremor, it was indeed afraid of that silver-gray spirit ring, and what was behind that door."
The impatience on the golden crocodile's face froze instantly, and his large, bell-like eyes were filled with horror.
"This...this is impossible!"
Are you kidding me?! What kind of martial soul is a six-winged angel? It's a god-level martial soul! It stands at the pinnacle of all martial souls! Would it fear the martial soul of a six-year-old child? That's utterly absurd!
"That's why I had to come and see for myself." Qian Daoliu withdrew his hand and placed it behind his back. "Bibi Dong's newly accepted disciple... is interesting. This child may be a gift from the gods to our Spirit Hall, or perhaps... a calamity capable of overturning everything."
He paused, then added, "Let's observe further."
……
Lin Yu had no idea that he had been targeted by two top figures from the Spirit Hall. He had only one thought in mind: to get back to his room as soon as possible.
"Bang!"
He dashed back to his villa, slammed the door shut, and bolted it shut.
"call--"
Lin Yu let out a long breath and leaned against the door, still shaken.
"Finally got rid of her. That Hu Liena was like a walking roast chicken; anyone who got involved with her was doomed. My life is more important; becoming stronger is the only way forward!"
He muttered to himself, giving himself a thumbs-up for his cleverness.
Once he was sure no one was around, Lin Yu's face immediately lit up with barely suppressed excitement.
"Hehe, but today's deal wasn't bad. That goofball Yan was the perfect sparring partner, giving me a clear understanding of the Ghost Bride's fighting power. Now, let's see just how powerful my cheat ability really is!"
He rubbed his hands together, walked to the center of the room and stood still, a thought forming in his mind.
"Buzz!"
An invisible ripple spread through the air, and the ancient, bluish-gray stone gate reappeared out of thin air.
With the appearance of his martial spirit, a stream of information flooded into his mind without warning.
Lin Yu closed his eyes, quickly processing this information, his face growing increasingly joyful.
"So that's how it is! Beyond the Gates of Hell lies a sealed underworld!"
"Each time you acquire a Soul Ring, you can unlock a portion of the Underworld and gain the ability to summon a ghost!"
"The ghost bride is just the appetizer; there's something even bigger to come! This wave... is taking off!"
Lin Yu opened his eyes, staring intently at the impending doom before him, his heart pounding. This wasn't just a cheat code; this was a super powerful backer!
"Fortune favors the bold; how could I, a transmigrator, not go in and see for myself!"
Without further hesitation, he stepped forward and placed his hands on the cold, rough stone door.
It felt incredibly heavy when he held it, so he mobilized his soul power and pushed it forward with all his might!
"Creak—"
A tooth-grinding scraping sound rang out, and he slowly pushed open the two huge stone doors, creating a gap just wide enough for one person to pass through.
The crevice was a bottomless darkness, accompanied by wisps of cold mist rising from it.
Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Yu stepped inside.
The scene before my eyes suddenly changed.
He found himself standing in an endless gray space, with nothingness beneath his feet and thick fog swirling around him, making it impossible to distinguish east from west.
Just as he was looking around, the thick fog in front of him suddenly began to churn violently and disperse to both sides, revealing a straight and wide ancient road paved entirely with bluestone slabs.
The road stretched into the distance, eventually disappearing into the thick fog.
"This is... the Road to the Underworld?"
Lin Yu murmured to himself, a strange sense of shock welling up inside him.
Just then, he saw a red figure standing quietly not far from the roadside, head bowed. It was the ghost bride who had just displayed her power.
She remained motionless, like a statue, the poignant and violent aura emanating from her completely subdued, leaving only absolute submission to her master.
Lin Yu glanced at her briefly before looking away.
"They know the rules quite well."
He had no interest in interacting with his summoned creatures; his goal was to explore this mysterious space.
He started walking, heading straight ahead along this road to the underworld.
The surroundings were deathly silent, with only the sound of his own footsteps echoing in the empty space, sounding exceptionally clear.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Lin Yu stopped.
The road to the underworld ends here, completely blocked by a thick, impenetrable wall of gray fog.
He instinctively raised his hand, wanting to touch the wall of fog.
However, just as his fingertips were about to touch the mist, a tremendous fear from the depths of his soul suddenly gripped his heart!
A cold, emotionless warning exploded in his mind.
Stepping in will kill you!
It is the kind of complete death where both body and soul are destroyed, leaving no chance for reincarnation!
Lin Yu's movements came to an abrupt halt, a fine layer of cold sweat instantly seeping from his forehead, and he quickly withdrew his hand.
"Holy crap, is it that exciting?"
He patted his chest, still shaken, and dared not have any more thoughts of testing the waters.
It seems that this sealed underworld has strict rules, and it's not a place where a newbie like him can just wander around.
However, although he could not move forward, he could vaguely hear the sound of flowing water coming from behind the wall of mist.
"Splash... splash..."
"This commotion... could it be the River of Oblivion?" Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat. "It seems that to unlock the next area, I'll have to get my second soul ring first."
The urge to become stronger was stronger than ever before.
Since he couldn't move forward, Lin Yu began to carefully examine the area that had been unsealed.
A road to the underworld, a ghost bride, that seems... nothing more?
Undeterred, he scanned both sides of the road, hoping to find something useful.
Soon, his gaze was drawn to a black silhouette on the roadside that was almost swallowed by a thin mist.
What is that?
Lin Yu immediately walked over, parted the thin mist, and a black object was revealed.
It was a stone tablet about two meters high, completely black, made of an unknown material, exuding an ancient and desolate aura.
On the stone tablet, lines of twisted and ancient characters are engraved.
He didn't recognize any of the characters, but strangely, when he stared at them, their meanings automatically surfaced in his mind.
He moved closer, stretched out his finger, and gently touched the top line of characters on the stone tablet.
