Its combat power can be said to overwhelm the entire Azeroth. Although it cannot unleash its full combat power, it can still defeat all the strong beings in Azeroth with its terrifying fel magic.
Ultimately, Maiev Shadowsong personally released the demon hunters she had imprisoned, giving players a new class option.
"So, I'm going to fight that night elf with these deep-sea naga, but isn't there a problem with that?"
We only formed an alliance with the Night Elves during the Battle of Mount Hyjal, and it's only been a little over 20 days, not even a month!
Are we going to become enemies with the Night Elves? We were just discussing the Night Elves joining the Alliance! Are you sure you want to do this?" Gianna asked, somewhat puzzled.
She couldn't understand why Rhode would cooperate with this night elf who was full of demonic energy, as well as these deep-sea monsters. As the princess of the powerful maritime nation of Kul Tiras, Gianna knew the Naga better than anyone in the Alliance. They were an extremely dangerous and ferocious race.
Even Jaina suspected that Illidan was a lackey of the Burning Legion, because Rhodes had previously said that the mission Illidan was currently undertaking was ordered by Kil'jaeden, the commander of the Burning Legion.
“I know your concerns, but you can rest assured that Illidan is using Kil'jaeden this time, and the target of his attack is the Lich King.”
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If the plan succeeds, it can severely weaken the Scourge and also allow us to take advantage of the situation to defeat Kil'jaeden.
Regarding the Night Elves you mentioned, you can rest assured that the Night Elves we cooperate with are the regular Night Elf army, and they also have a proper leader.
"This night elf army, strictly speaking, is a private armed force, not part of the regular night elf army," Rhodes said with a smile.
You can tell just by listening to their titles. In the campaign storyline, other Night Elf Sentinels call Tyrande "High Priestess," and Malfurion calls her "Grand Mentor Druid of the Stormrage."
But the Watchers call Mistress Maiev.
"Okay, I hope you've made the right decision, but Rhodes, don't mess it up."
"Trust me, you will stay here to assist the Naga army. I also need you to do something else."
"Although this force is a private army, they are still Night Elves. We can't afford to strain our relationship too much. So, if things get too serious, you can reveal the Phoenix to intimidate them and try to make them give up their attack. The longer you delay, the better," Rhodes said.
Jaina nodded. She now understood what Rhodes meant. Although Rhodes didn't particularly like this night elf army, he didn't want to launch a devastating attack on them.
After finishing his conversation with the female mage, Rhodes approached Illidan.
"It's all planned out. The Naga forces will be led by Vashj, along with your sorceress, to delay Maiev Shadowsong and her Wardens."
But I only need to delay them for a short while before letting them into the Tomb of Sargeras. I'll set a trap there; this time, I'm going to give her a big surprise. Having Gul'dan's memories, Illidan knew very well just how dangerous the Tomb of Sargeras was.
He and Rhodes could sneak in and take the Eye of Sargeras, as long as they tried to avoid some powerful demons along the way, because Illidan knew the route, which the orc Gul'dan had explored with his own life.
But Maiev Shadowsong and her Watchers didn't know that by luring them into these traps, they could trigger a massive earthquake once they obtained the Eye of Sargeras, burying the madwoman and her army together and permanently solving the problem.
"You're ruthless! Maiev only wanted to capture you, but you actually tried to kill her and all her subordinates."
"A petty person is no gentleman, and a ruthless person is no true man. This is what you taught me, and it fits perfectly with the Pandaren culture of Pandaria."
"But the peaceful Pandaren wouldn't have invented this language; you're the one who modified it," Illidan said, looking at Rhodes.
When he first heard the words, he didn't understand what they meant, but then Rod demonstrated them to him.
This immediately made Illidan realize that this was the mindset he needed to deal with the Burning Legion and his enemies.
"Don't talk nonsense. I never said that, okay? Maybe you taught me, right now." Rhodes rolled his eyes. Damn it, he definitely said that, but he couldn't admit it!
"Is that so? Then take it as if I said it! Remember to tell my past self 1 years ago: never be soft-hearted when dealing with enemies."
"Mae's pursuit of me will not stop, and my ultimate goal is to completely destroy the Burning Legion. This woman is an obstacle to me, and I must eliminate her completely," Illidan said.
"No, no, no, I don't think so. I don't think this plan is perfect. You may be able to eliminate all of Maiev's Watchers, but you definitely can't eliminate Maiev herself."
Although I've never met the Wardens, I know what these Night Elf special forces are good at. Maiev has a special Blink ability, which allows her to teleport a certain distance.
With this one move, she'll definitely be able to escape, and after you wipe out all her men, just imagine how much she'll hate you.
This hatred will only make her more determined to deal with you, so we'd better revise this plan.
“As expected of you, Rhodes. You’re right, this plan isn’t very safe and it certainly can’t completely kill Maiev Shadowsong.” Illidan agreed with Rhodes’s point of view.
This made Rhodes nod in satisfaction. As long as Illidan didn't offend Maiev too much, there was still room for negotiation. But then Illidan's attitude changed.
“I need to prepare a more powerful killing move for Rhodes, such as creating a fel bomb, or even using some anti-magic items. You should have anti-magic items now, right? Let’s set up an ultimate trap and then kill her completely,” Illidan said, looking at Rhodes.
Rhodes discovered a flaw in the plan; he had indeed been somewhat negligent, overlooking Maiev's special ability. A simple cave collapse could only kill her subordinates, but not Maiev herself. He needed to prepare a fel bomb.
And Tyrande would probably be very happy to kill Maiev, right? These two have always been at odds. (Actually, Maiev was quite restrained; otherwise, during the Night Elf campaign, when she was alone with Tyrande, any normal person would have already drawn their sword and attacked Tyrande.)
"Ahem, no, what I mean is, can we stop thinking about killing them? We just need to stall for time, and maybe even prevent Maiev from entering Sargeras' Tomb." Rhodes rolled his eyes.
Damn it, Eggman, I thought you understood what I meant, but you wanted to do something even more ruthless. You're going to install a fel bomb and some magic immunity items to just take down Maiev!
The problem is that among our current troop types, only the magic elemental can be immune to magic, but this immunity is only self-immunity and cannot achieve a complete magic-suppressing effect.
Weapons made from other anti-magic metals didn't work either. It seems that Illidan must have obtained something like an anti-magic orb ten thousand years ago, which is why he had this idea.
"When did you become so soft-hearted? Or is there another reason?"
“I never show mercy to my enemies, but Maiev, your methods are really not good. She will be very important to Azeroth in the future.”
"In short, we can't kill her, and if I really wanted to kill her, I wouldn't need to set a trap. This operation is my decision," Rhodes said.
"Can you guarantee she won't interfere with me again? Do you know how important my mission is?" His ultimate goal is to destroy the Burning Legion, and he's willing to stop at nothing to achieve it. (Of course, as long as Tyrande isn't harmed.)
“I also need to deal with the Burning Legion. This time, we’ll make it quick. You just need to have someone hold her off for a bit. Once we get the Eye of Sargeras, we can discuss our strategy more thoroughly,” Rhodes said.
"As you wish!"
The Lich King can cause a little trouble, but Northrend cannot sink.
After bidding farewell to Illidan, Rhodes immediately used a disguise spell on the female mage, making her look just like the Naga standing next to her.
There are also many arcane mages among the Naga who use ice magic, and Jaina can blend in perfectly with the Naga.
"Gina, remember this: never reveal your identity," Rhodes repeatedly instructed before leaving.
Chapter 172 Entering the Tomb of Sargeras, Slaughtering Demons
“I understand, Rhodes. I will do my best to deter the night elves and not harm them. Don’t worry, I also hope to maintain peace with the night elves,” the female mage said.
The relationship between the Night Elves and the Alliance is extremely important. If Rhodes hadn't insisted, she wouldn't have participated in this battle at all. But since Rhodes said so, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and go for it.
Moreover, according to Rhodes's previous recollections, this special night elf force did not accept orders from Tyrande or Malfurion; they only obeyed their mistress.
“I trust you to handle things. If things really don’t work out, just withdraw from the battle. Just don’t let them discover your identity,” Rhodes said.
After making all the necessary arrangements, Rhodes and Illidan entered the Tomb of Sargeras together.
The Tomb of Sargeras is a very special territory. Hundreds of years ago, Aegwynn buried Sargeras's avatar and sank it to the bottom of the sea. It wasn't until a little over a decade ago that Gul'dan raised this underwater tomb. (The campaign's claim of 20 years ago is incorrect, as the Second War was lost because of Gul'dan's betrayal of Orgrim, and the Dark Portal had already been open for several years when the Second War occurred.)
The two entered the dilapidated ancient night elf building, which exuded an eerie aura, including fel energy and an aura of death.
Around the Tomb of Sargeras are the remains of many orcs, the orc warlocks brought by Gul'dan. Upon sensing the presence of Rhodes and Illidan, these orc undead immediately awoke, and orc-shaped skeletons attacked the two.
Rhodes snorted coldly, and golden light shone in his hand. Holy Light magic was activated, and a holy storm of holy light flashed, instantly clearing out the surrounding undead orcs.
“Holy Light magic is indeed very effective against orcs. You can summon some Holy Light elementals,” Illidan said to Rhodes.
“That’s exactly what I was thinking too.” Rhode immediately equipped himself with a fire elemental magic scroll and then summoned a total of 14 holy light elements, which floated around Rhode.
Their bodies shimmered with gold, and they had beautiful, shimmering golden hair. Their female appearances were more solidified. These holy light elements had been enhanced after Rhodes obtained intermediate-level air magic.
Unfortunately, the quantity hasn't changed much yet. Perhaps the number of Holy Light Elements will increase once I acquire advanced air magic.
The appearance of the Holy Light element immediately cleared away the gloom in the Tomb of Sargeras, and the holy light illuminated the dark space.
Some creatures infected by the demonic power generated by fel energy died instantly upon contact with this holy light.
After Rhodes summoned the Holy Light elementals, Illidan clearly felt a sense of unease. He had been completely transformed into a demonic creature and had an instinctive aversion to these Holy Light lifeforms.
However, as an ally, Illidan didn't say anything. When he was born, his eyes shone with golden light, which was somewhat similar to the energy of these holy light life forms!
Upon noticing the golden light in his eyes, Sargeras immediately intervened, extinguishing it and granting him Fel Vision.
Unfortunately, Illidan sought absolute power, and the power of the Holy Light didn't quite suit him, even though it was a power he was born with. (In patch 7.0, it was stated that the golden light in Illidan's eyes was the Holy Light, and Illidan was the prophesied Son of the Holy Light.)
"I told you to keep those things away from me, let's keep going!" Illidan nodded to Rhodes, and the two headed deeper into the Tomb of Sargeras.
Along the way, they encountered a large number of orc undead, who still retained some of their abilities from their previous lives, such as casting some fel magic spells.
They were all orc warlocks, members of the Shadow Council founded by Gul'dan. Rhodes remembered that there seemed to be another surviving old orc from the Shadow Council nearby during the battle.
But what was this person's name, and where exactly was he now? Rhodes couldn't remember.
After clearing out some orc skeletons on the outskirts, Rhodes and Illidan encountered some low-level demons, such as some imps, some demon guards, and hellhounds.
Without hesitation, Rhodes would command the holy light elements to rush forward, and then use some holy spells to strike these demons.
Rhodes practically swept through everything in his path, showing no sign of letting any demon he encountered escape. He even summoned several golden and diamond beings to protect himself, and at the same time, he also summoned his Holy Light Angel.
After the powerful angels of holy light appeared, they immediately dealt a devastating blow to these demons; basically, no demon could withstand the angels of holy light.
This thing's true combat power is enough to kill Archimonde. Although Archimonde was restricted, it still managed to sever his head.
Originally, Illidan intended that there was no need to get entangled with these demons; they could simply go around them. He could use his demon hunter abilities to help Rhodes enter stealth mode.
But Rhodes said, "I always like to push through, I can't let my 14 Holy Light Elementals just stand by! I can't let the Holy Light Angels do nothing!"
“We should conserve our strength. There are very powerful demons deep within this tomb. You don’t mean to wipe them all out, do you?” Illidan asked, frowning.
"Why not? Let them live so they can wreak havoc on Azeroth in the future. We two just need to eliminate them directly," Rhodes said nonchalantly.
"This will take up a lot of time."
"No, no, no, it won't waste any time at all. With these holy light elements present, plus my powerful magic, these demons won't last long." Rhodes said confidently.
Putting everything else aside, even if I were to simply use the Magic Sword now, a single Magic Sword strike would already deal 200 damage. Keep in mind that the Fire Spirit Orb has been enhanced, and the Magic Arrow belongs to the 4-elemental magic. With the support of advanced earth magic and the Fire Orb, a single Magic Arrow strike would have over 200 power, and it would only consume 4 mana points.
Demons with more than 200 health points are not common in this tomb. The majority of them are low-level demons, and none of them have much intelligence.
“You’re really good at causing me trouble. Why don’t you stay here and clear out the demons while I go in and get the Eye of Sargeras!” Illidan said.
My main purpose in coming here is to find the powerful artifact, the Eye of Sargeras; eliminating the demons inside is not within my consideration.
If Rhodes wants to cleanse all the demons in the Tomb of Sargeras, he won't play along.
Moreover, the element of holy light already annoyed him, and this creature, whose entire body burned with holy power and had a pair of giant wings on its back, made Illidan even more uncomfortable.
Just standing in front of these archangels of holy light made Illidan feel uneasy all over, and he even felt a faint stinging sensation on his skin, which was the effect of the holy light burning.
After Illidan finished speaking, he didn't give Rhodes a chance to reply. He immediately went into stealth mode, disappeared instantly, and then turned into a blur as he rushed into the depths of the tomb.
"Hey, wait, Illidan, we need to move forward together." Rhode immediately tried to call out to Illidan, but once the Demon Hunter entered stealth mode, even Rhode couldn't sense him.
Moreover, Illidan's speed was simply too fast. Demon Hunters are assassins by nature, and once he dashed out, he vanished without a trace.
Damn it! It's obvious Illidan doesn't want to play this tomb-clearing game with me! But buddy, is this a game?
