Chapter 27 The Jinyang District Basketball Hall Incident
Chapter 27 The Jinyang District Basketball Hall Incident
Just as the two moved from the front to a spot not far from the back door, a student wearing a uniform from another school squeezed through from behind.
"Are you also going to Jinyang District?" The boy wasn't very tall, about the same height as Wu Yun, around 1.77 meters, but he had a very healthy tan, which made Wu Yun envious, especially his muscle definition.
Wu Yun sensed that if the other party really wanted to fight him, they could probably beat both of them.
Qin Yu was now wearing a mask, a hat, and sports glasses. If he hadn't left the school gate with Qin Yu, you wouldn't have recognized him at first glance.
Wu Yun looked at Qin Yu with a head full of question marks. Qin Yu gave him a wink, which peeked out from behind his sports glasses.
Wu Yun nodded, half understanding—it must be telling him not to reveal his identity.
Thinking back to yesterday when Qin Yu was wearing a mask the whole time on the basketball court, although I don't understand why, as his childhood friend and older brother, I just let Qin Yu do as he pleases.
"Is there something you need?" Qin Yu didn't speak, so Wu Yun answered to avoid an awkward silence.
"I'm also going to Jinyang District. If you guys want to play basketball, then we can form a team together."
"Okay." Before Wu Yun could speak, and was thinking about how to respond, Qin Yu snatched the reply away.
Wu Yun stared at Qin Yu in astonishment. Didn't they just say they were just going to take a look? How come they've already formed a team before the car has even started?
"Thank you, thank you. It's been so long since I played, I'm rusty."
"Which school are you from? Your school uniform seems to belong to that newly built experimental middle school over there? Are you a new student this year?"
"Yes, it's the Experimental Middle School, not far from the Third Middle School. It's a newly established school, so I'm practically one of their veterans, haha. By the way, my name is Du Dewu, what's yours?"
"My name is Wu Yun."
"Wu Yun, what a great name! Although I don't know what's so great about it, haha, I just think it's a good name."
Wu Yun was speechless. This guy... are they going to get beaten to a pulp today?
"What's your name?" Du Dewu asked, turning to Qin Yu.
"Zhou Biao," Qin Yu replied coldly.
Wu Yun turned his head, his eyes wide as he stared in astonishment at Qin Yu beside him, who had calmly given a false name. What was the boss up to?
"Well... that's pretty good too. Is it the 'Biao' in 'fierce'? That's quite impressive. You must be really good at basketball, right?" Du Dewu continued with a smile.
So you'll praise any name you hear, huh?
And what does this name have to do with basketball? Does having a good name automatically make you a great basketball player? Wouldn't it be even better to just name yourself "Jordan"?
Wu Yun was speechless.
Seeing the somewhat awkward atmosphere, Du Dewu scratched his head and then laughed.
"Here's some chewing gum, want some?" Du Dewu took out a box of unopened Wrigley's gum from his pocket, took out two pieces, handed one to Wu Yun, and the other to Qin Yu.
Qin Yu shook his head.
Wu Yun and Du Dewu chatted along the way. Wu Yun also learned that Du Dewu's grades were actually quite good, and that the newly built Jiangzhou Experimental Middle School was considered a very strong school.
There wasn't a basketball team before, but it will be established soon, possibly in time for this year's Jiangzhou Middle School Basketball League.
Their physical education teacher has already started mobilizing people, and many have signed up. The selection will take place next week, so Du Dewu brought his basketball today, intending to go to the court to practice and learn.
"That's pretty good. I can teach you a thing or two today."
"It shouldn't be too difficult to get into the newly formed basketball team. When you're playing, watch carefully; I'll tell you everything I know," Wu Yun said.
"Okay, thank you, thank you, Brother Wu Yun."
"Don't call me big brother, just call me Wu Yun."
"Okay, okay, Brother Wu Yun." Du Dewu looked at Wu Yun with a simple and honest expression. Seeing that he couldn't change it, Wu Yun stopped insisting.
[Ding! Next stop: Jinyang District Sports Center. Passengers disembarking, please proceed to the rear exit.]
The bus sounded its approaching stop announcement. The group moved to the back door.
"Boss, boss. Let's go in," Wu Yun called out.
"It's been a long time since I've been here." Qin Yu looked at the huge Jinyang Sports Center.
Is two months a long time? Wu Yun was a little doubtful. After all, looking at Qin Yu like this, he thought it had been years since he last came. But at the beginning of summer vacation, it was he who brought Qin Yu to the Jinyang Sports Center to play basketball.
"Let's go, hurry up, I can't wait. I've heard there are many experts in Jinyang."
"Of course. We'll find a more relaxed place to go later, but don't pick any experts, otherwise you won't learn anything if their skills are too high," Wu Yun said to Du Dewu.
"Okay, okay." Du Dewu nodded quickly, looking attentively and devoutly listening to the lecture.
Qin Yu frowned. How could Du Dewu, with his physique and coordination, possibly not be a good player? One dared to speak, and the other dared to believe.
Qin Yu, walking behind the two, scanned Du Dewu and Wu Yun back and forth with his eyes.
"Wow! Jin Yang Gymnasium has so many courts?" Du Dewu, who was visiting Jin Yang Gymnasium for the first time, was surprised to see that there were a total of sixteen basketball courts as soon as he entered the basketball court. It was really unbelievable.
Only two basketball courts were playing full-court games, while the remaining fourteen were playing half-court games, meaning there were twenty-eight basketball games in progress.
Bang!
"Good shot!" A man who was 2.02 meters tall hung on the rim, and the basketball slammed heavily onto the ground from inside the rim.
"Let's go, stop looking. I think that group in the corner is pretty good. I don't think they're very tall," Wu Yun said, pointing to a field in the distance.
"Okay, okay," Du Dewu nodded quickly in response.
Qin Yu remained noncommittal and followed behind the two.
He said he came to Jinyang Stadium to take a look, and it's true. Of course, if he can play, he can.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
"Hey, Bro, I'm home. Were you playing basketball today too?" A message popped up on MSN from Chamberlain.
Qin Yu took a picture of the Jinyang Stadium and sent it over.
"Wow, this is the Jinyang Stadium, right? I've played here twice. But it doesn't seem like there are many skilled players here."
"Goodbye." Qin Yu sent two Chinese characters and then logged out of MSN. To say there were no experts, this Chamberlain really doesn't even know how to be humble.
Qin Yu still finds the humble Chamberlain more endearing.
No experts?
Isn't there a ready-made Du Dewu?
Even if he's not very skilled now, he'll still train him to become an expert.
"Hey, can we come in and play basketball over here?"
"Okay, you only need three people to form a team." Wu Yun, who had walked to the front, shouted to a few people in the north half of the 12th court.
